  1. It is a trend on all new Lexus vehicles, the IS is the same - seats that are thin (to give more room in the rear) and firm but still comfortable. You don't sink into them as you may have done with older models, you sit on them. F Sport seats are no different other than you are encased with the high-sided bolsters.
  2. Then you should be okay, but they would normally put a sticker on the belt cover stating when it was changed (although these have been known to fall off).
  3. Maybe not. It originally had a 100k interval for the belt but because one of the pulleys can start to wear the belt Lexus changed the interval to 60k. If it was being serviced at an independent they may not know about the reduced interval.
  4. If you get a Lexus approved warranty you do need to service it at a Lexus dealer (either a full dealership or one which has a service only franchise).
  5. Don't let the cost of a new battery pack frighten you, it doesn't make sense to purchase a new battery pack from Lexus. Just get the old one repaired for a few hundred pounds or find a secondhand battery from a scrapped vehicle.
  6. below average reliability unfortunately. http://www.consumerreports.org/cars/tesla-reliability-doesnt-match-its-high-performance/
  7. I've unlocked a Toyota Aygo in the same way. Alarmingly it seems the number of unique codes is very limited.
  8. I'd like to think that Toyota/Lexus have supplied a battery that is suitable for this use case - certainly a standard 'flooded' battery wouldn't cope too well. Many of the Toyota range has had stop/start for years now so if there were any reliability issues those should be known and corrected by now.
  9. Lexus are refusing to support CarPlay / Android Auto for their latest cars, even though most other manufactures now provide support. Clinging on to an old business model is never a good strategy, I expect they will lose sales because of it. Vaistech are the best systems out their but are expensive and they typically cannot guarantee they will work with UK vehicles (until at least one customer purchases and tests it). Personally I just purchased a Brodit holder and hid the wire as best I could. I can charge my phone and have choice of infinitely better Nav applications that the built in system.
  10. You should use the 'General Reviews' forum provided you have no connection with the establishment. What isn't allowed is duplicate posts all over the site in multiple forums
  11. The following has some information on the TSB I referred to. http://workshop-manuals.com/lexus/gs_450h/v6-3.5l_(2gr-fse)_hybrid/transmission_and_drivetrain/sensors_and_switches_transmission_and_drivetrain/sensors_and_switches_a/t/fluid_pressure_sensor/switch_a/t/component_information/technical_service_bulletins/all_technical_service_bulletins_for_fluid_pressure_sensor/switch/sb0006-09/feb/09/engine_controls_mil_on/dtcs_p0867/p0990_set/ I'm not sure it is relevant to your situation as the TSB came out before your vehicle was built and seems to be specifically for 2007-2008 models with a VIN below a certain value. Your vehicle, being a 2010 model, should already have the modified sensor and ECU logic update. Did your dealer provide any explanation? Typically when a sensor circuit is low/high it implies the sensor itself is faulty (or bad wiring), rather than a problem with the thing the sensor is actually monitoring. If the sensor does need replacing the TSB implies it should take around 1 hour, but your dealer should follow the repair procedure for that error code to firstly determine the actual root cause rather than just swapping out parts until the fault is fixed.
  12. But it at least stops the battery draining. At the very least the phone should be showing the charge indicator if everything is working correctly.
  13. Unfortunately the LS400 uses a different MAF sensor to most other Toyota vehicles of that age (Karman-Vortex design compared to the more common hot-wire type). The LS430 uses a hot-wire sensor. In theory you may be able to use an alternative type but the ECU has specific mappings for the MAF designed for the engine so you would need some sort of convertor.
  14. This is an old thread discussing the series II IS, not the current series III.
  15. Toyota have well documented why they don't use Lithium batteries, cost and reliability. The new Prius still uses Ni-MH batteries, again for reliability, cost, and they are able to charge them at higher currents (more efficient regen braking) without overheating. The mpg my wife's new Prius can get is very impressive. As for the 400h and lack of features - it is an old design now so things like Sat Nav now look outdated. Auto folding mirrors etc. is probably more of a commercial and marketing decision. It's not as if Toyota didn't have the technology, they just choose to not include many options on UK vehicles compared to their local or US market. The 400h does drop its mirrors when in reverse, the same as the RX300 and RX350. You just need to make sure the adjuster switch is in L or R position and not neutral. It would be nice if the reverse position could be adjusted and stored in memory, but it just drops to a factory set position.
  16. Well they don't suit the car, the IS is no sports car. As I said they are in the ultra high performance category so are noisy and wear quickly compared to other categories, compromises Goodyear have to make to get the grip levels to where a high performance car demands. No one is suggesting fitting some cheap part-worn remoulds, EfficientGrip or other tyres equal to OEM performance, or one level up, don't compromise your safety. Do you also feel the need to replace all the IS brakes with 4 pot Supra or IS F Brembo brakes - these are after all what actually stop your vehicle.
  17. When I updated my old 400h I just put in the new disc and the system automatically upgraded to allow input whilst driving - no disconnecting the battery. My understanding is the series II RX never offers full post code entry, even with the latest maps disc.
  18. Asymmetric 3 are an ultra high performance tyre, completed wasted on an IS IMO. Good for an IS F though :)
  19. It would somewhat depend how long they have had it for. Some GSs sit on the forecourt for months and the dealers lowers the price £1k to £2k. If the price has already been lowered they won't be so willing to drop any further. If the vehicle was first advertised at £14,449 then they probably only paid £11k for it as a trade in.
  20. Technically if you have gaps then Lexus GB could refuse a factory warranty claim on the hybrid system etc. Extended warranty shouldn't be an issue if it was all approved.
  21. Service plans typically save no money over paying for the individual services (unless the service pricing goes up during the term), but you have the flexibility to pay monthly. If your dealer is willing to negotiate the price of the plan they would typically be willing to also give a discount on individual services.
  22. In the past Toyota dealers have been able to get TRD parts if you know the part codes, not sure if that is still true.
  23. That looks aftermarket to me, possibly a third-party tracker device or secondary immobiliser.
