  1. highly unlikely to be oil coming up from the cylinders otherwise you would have poor engine compression as air would find its way out easier than oil. Either water/oil/engine cleaner has made its way passed the coil packs or you have poor seals on the inside of the cam covers allowing oil to drop down the plug tubes to sit on top of the plugs.
  2. If they have stamped your full service space in the book then you should contact Lexus GB and also trading standards.
  3. A full service or intermediate? Filters wouldn't even be inspected on an intermediate service.
  4. That seems to be the complete suspension unit including the shock absorber: 48020-48075 CYLINDER ASSY, PNEUMATIC, FRONT LH W/SHOCK ABSORBER
  5. Unfortunately that doesn't apply to the 400h as it doesn't have keyless entry.

  7. The US have smaller gallons and economy tests that are more real-world compared to ours. The two combined lead to very different figures. For example the current GS450h in the US has a combined figure of 31 mpg. Converting that to imperial gallons is 37 mpg. The UK figure is 45 mpg.
  8. Ask them what oil they will use, and make sure the invoice states the oil that was used. If you get a drop in mpg then ask them to check the oil grade. If it turns out to be different then you can get them to put it right. The CT uses an oil that is also used for a lot of other Toyota/Lexus vehicles. They will have gallons of the stuff on-hand.
  9. I'd say the series III is still too young to know how well the air suspension will hold up, people reporting issues with the series II typically have vehicles 7 years old or more. Whilst I'd like to think the reliability has increased over time, with improvements to the design, it is expensive to put right so I'd recommend sticking with sprung suspension or budget for a warranty that will cover any issues.
  10. I've found the cruise control on the IS300h to allow the vehicle to speed up when going down hill, all my previous Toyota/Lexus vehicles have managed to maintain a speed within 1 mph of the set speed. Happens at low or high speed. It seems to be by design and I suspect it is to improve economy. It certainly isn't a 'safety' feature, that is just your dealer making things up.
  11. It really needs to be hooked up to a ODBII reader and check the fuel trims to see if it is running rich. O2 sensor(s) might be on their way out and the MAF sensor could probably do with a clean too.
  12. I think the sliding pins are priced reasonably, the rubbers are quite expensive, as are clips, shims, and springs. Some dealers don't always provide good advise and suggest parts aren't available when they are. Check for parts using http://www.toyodiy.com and just give dealers a part code to price/order. Lexus Swindon will do online ordering, although it isn't 24-hour turnaround. http://www.lexuspartsdirect.co.uk
  13. I wouldn't bank on that. European regulations, shipping costs, import duty, and VAT will bring it up almost to parity with the $ price in the US.
  14. Tested hill-start assist today on a car park ramp. Going up - stopped, released the brakes and the vehicle stayed still for just over 2 seconds at which point it started to move back slowly as the brakes were released. Going down - stopped, selected reverse, released the brakes and the vehicle stayed still for just over 2 seconds at which point it moved a couple of inches forwards and then the was held by the hybrid system until I pressed the throttle and it moved backwards up the slope.
  15. No it shouldn't do. With bluetooth audio the data file isn't transferred. The phone converts the AAC to the bluetooth audio codec on the fly, which the headunit receives and converts that bluetooth digital signal to analogue.
  16. That's the same wording as the IS manual, so yes this is fully automatic. The way I read this is if you are in reverse then it is an upwards incline when the vehicle is pointing downwards? I'm sure it works, my father's drive is steep and my old RX used to move forwards when reversing up, but I don't remember my IS ever doing it.
  17. I think you should reread my statement then, I'm not defending anyone. I said it was unfortunately that Toyota have a policy for only providing one major update during the life of a vehicle.
  18. If it is automatic then it shouldn't roll at all, doesn't matter how steep the incline is as the system will hold the brakes for 2 seconds.
