  1. The low washer fluid warning is similar. A single message when you first start, that can be cleared, would be sufficient, but it keeps reappearing.
  2. It does seem that some people are able to get competitive quotes from Lexus. I've never been able to understand the demographic they are looking for though.
  3. Possibly, but will no doubt come back at some point. Take the lights out, check the seal at the back to stop water ingress, and use a toothbrush to get rid of the mould in that gap. It might be worth filling in the gap with some clear silicone sealant to prevent it from happening again.
  4. In this instance it would be a disadvantage, retrofitting CC isn't an official task and therefore if Toyota GB owned all the dealerships none of them would support you. To be fair to the Liverpool dealership they may not be aware it can be done, it is extremely rare that a retrofit can be performed on a Lexus vehicle. Normally the wiring isn't in place, even if you think it would be cheaper to just have a standard loom for all vehicles they normally don't do that at the factory. I'm sure the dealership will just sell you the parts if you give them the list.
  5. SE-L Premier (up to 2012) had adaptive CC as standard. After 2012 it became an option on the F Sport and Premier. I believe all 450h, from 2009, had normal CC as standard.
  6. The ES is the Lexus badged Toyota Camry, which isn't sold in the UK. It is larger than the IS, but smaller than the GS. It is front wheel drive, and uses the same engine as the NX300h (not the IS/GS300h one). There is talk of the GS being removed from the lineup and just having the ES, possibly in Europe too.
  7. Happened on my old 400h. The near side light actually started to let in water too, the rubber seal on the back came unstuck - had to seal it up again. Probably worth taking the light off and checking, you can then clean the mould at the same time :)
  8. Yes, although it is dependant on the wheel size. up to 2015, CO2 for 16/17/18" wheels were 99/103/109 and mid 2015 onwards is 97/101/107 g/km.
  9. Diff oil is not replaced on a major service, only inspected, but the cost to replace it is seems to be within the fixed price service. I've had two major services, one didn't replace it, the other one did (charged for 1.4 litres). The first major service occurred before the price rise and extra checks so maybe it will always be replaced going forward.
  10. The Mid 2015 models have slightly lower CO2 figures as the emissions were tweaked to conform to Euro 6. Combined mpg figure improves slightly.
  11. The 2015 changes were minor, it isn't deemed a facelift by Lexus.
  12. We are currently on the third generation (series) of IS. 1999 - 2005 IS200/300 (1998 - 2005 as the Toyota Altezza in Japan) 2005 - 2012 IS250/IS250C/IS220d/IS200d/IS F 2013 - IS250/IS300h/IS200t Following Toyota's standard lifecycle each series lasts around 7 years with a major facelift mid-cycle. Minor cosmetic changes occur yearly. Trim grades have changed with each series. There have been tweaks between the years, and some special editions, but roughly they are: Series 1 IS200 (base), SE, Sport Series 2 IS250 (base), SE, SE-L, Sport SE, SE-I, SE-L, F-Sport Series 3 SE, Luxury, F Sport, Premier SE, Executive, Sport, Advance, Luxury, F Sport, Premier
  13. Did the EV light come on? I think it won't shut off the engine above 50 to 55 mph. I've seen it around that figure coming off a motorway, slowing onto a slip road. Once it is up to speed the vehicle will run on batteries only at around 50 mph, it just won't accelerate up to that speed without ICE assistance. The latest generation of Toyota's hybrid system will shut off the engine all the way up to 70 mph if you lift off/coast.
  14. Lexus have also used SE-L as a grade in the past however they don't on the current generation. There is no misprint in the this case as it isn't an SE-L, it is an SE L-Navi.
  15. p0141 is for the downstream sensor after the main cat. If you are changing the ones on the manifold (either B1S1 or B2S1) then you aren't going to solve the problem.
  16. Yes, the health check gives you a 1 year extension to the battery warranty (doesn't cover other hybrid components) but only until the vehicle is 10 years old. Past that date you don't get any additional warranty, we are now getting to a point in time when the age of these vehicles can exceed 10 years.
  17. Just to make sure we are talking about the correct sensor, B1S2 has its connector under the seat inside the vehicle. Are you using a genuine Toyota sensor, or Denso OEM? Some third party sensors have a heating element with a different resistance which confuses the ECU.
  18. if you have swapped out the throttle body, complete with throttle motor, then you need to look at the wiring and ECU (possibly ECU connector). Without the throttle motor working you are just using the fallback which is via the mechanical throttle cable - this requires the gas pedal to be pushed much further down and will only partly open the throttle.
  19. Who has said the batteries only last 8 years? That clearly isn't correct, Lexus US provide a warranty for 8 years so on average it is clearly going to last longer than that otherwise they will be replacing expensive battery packs. There are Prius Gen 1 and Gen 2 vehicles still working on original batteries that are 14 to 17 years old so there shouldn't be a reason why the LS ones won't last as long, but it is somewhat of an unknown and obviously the chances of a problem increase with age. There are several posts in the GS section on battery repairs, the GS450h seems to be the least reliable for a Toyota hybrid for some reason - at the stage when Toyota's quality wasn't the greatest (2005-2010), but must be related to design as well because the Prius and RX400h don't suffer the same issues.
  20. I think it means an IS 300h SE with optional Navigation. It isn't SE-L Navi it is SE L-Navi (Lexus navigation) Insurance companies would have SE and SE L-Navi listed as two different grades, as they are different factory options. Otherwise you would have to declare an SE with options.
  21. Did he state the cost? It's probably so expensive that nobody would ever purchase one, and either get the individual cells replaced or scrap the vehicle. Having said that, there is no fundamental different to the battery pack in the LS compared to the Prius or other Toyota hybrid. The type of cells used, and over capacity built-in, means these battery packs are very reliable.
