  1. That warning is normally only given for vehicles that have the battery inside the passenger compartment (e.g. the boot on the Prius). The battery needs a special vent hole that a hose connects to, allowing gases to be vented outside. If the vehicle is in the engine bay then there isn't an issue. Bosch do (or at least did) a battery that fits which has a slightly higher capacity than the OEM one. I believe it is size 158.
  2. My 2013 IS brake light comes on with the slightest of touches, certainly before the mechanical brakes apply.
  3. I hope that Amazon are able to tell when people skip passed the celeb part. Then they will understand that nobody is interested and get rid of it.
  4. It's 19 years old and has over 100k miles - all the shocks and rubbers will be long past their best. It mentions some suspension parts have been replaced, but which ones and was it only because they got to a point of being unsafe rather than routinely replacing parts that are no longer optimal?
  5. Updates available from your dealer or online: https://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu Don't expect any update to the interface, just map data. Possibly save your money and use your smart phone instead for navigation for something much more up to date and feature rich.
  6. for the engine maybe, but not the suspension components unless they have been changed at least once in the life of the vehicle.
  7. I'm not sure I'd say Lexus Guildford's rates were ever responsible. One of the most expensive in the country until Lexus made all the dealers use the same pricing - now every dealer is at the high end of unreasonable.
  8. One or two people have used them on these forums, I haven't heard anything bad about them. Not used them personally myself.
  9. Yes, I'm using the built-in app on my LG TV. Unfortunately Amazon don't offer 4k to computers yet. Netflix do but have some very restrictive requirements, i.e. Windows 10 Anniversary (needed for copy protection) and a 7th Gen Intel CPU or Nvidia 10x0 graphics card.
  10. There is a specific UHD version you need to find. If you just select the main HD version it doesn't automatically detect you have 4k capabilities and switch to it. If you don't have a 4k device with a built-in Amazon app you won't see the UHD content.
  11. What size wheels to you have? What pressure are the tyres? Weather won't make a big difference on a motorway, most of the drop off in cold temperatures is due to the engine getting up to temperatures and lower speed driving.
  12. The Audi has a stop/start system. That is very different from a full hybrid vehicle, which is capable of pulling away without the engine running. You cannot control the engine start/stop in normal operation. The engine may start before moving off, but only if the hybrid battery gets low and needs to be charged - or in cold weather you have the heating on and the engine temperature drops too low to keep you warm. Whilst moving the engine will cut in and out as needed. Above a certain speed the engine won't cut out but will idle if only electric power is needed.
  13. No, but it really shouldn't be of any concern whether it is running or not - as the driver you cannot control it.
  14. cylinders are numbered from the front of the engine to the back, number 1 is nearest the radiator.
  15. one of more of the fuel injectors is probably playing up, that is the usual cause when you get misfire errors on several cylinders.
  16. anti-seize so you can remove them at a later date! Denso sensors comes with a small amount in the box.
  17. I don't think there are any obvious markings so you can really only tell by actually testing the ratio. Jack up a wheel, put it in neutral, then turn the wheel one revolution whilst at the same time counting the revolutions of the prop shaft. There isn't much in it, just under four revs for a manual diff, and just over 4 for the auto. IS200 manual 43:11 (3.900) IS200 auto 41:10 (4.100)
  18. The Rav4 has the same engine as the NX, different to the IS with less power. The hybrid systems are essentially the same for Toyota and Lexus, but the tools that Toyota dealers use are normally restricted to just working on Toyota models, only if they also have a Lexus franchise to their get those vehicles unlocked. The dealership isn't underwriting the hybrid health check, it is Toyota GB (for both Toyota and Lexus), and so if a Toyota dealer performs an unofficial hybrid health check and you have a problem then your claim may be rejected.
  19. An ultra high-performance tyre, designed for sports cars, will always compromise on comfort and noise. They may be quite compared to their direct competition in the UHP category but not compared to comfort or fuel efficient designed tyres.
  20. Is this a UK vehicle or import? Auto or manual? Can't rule out a sticking needle but could also be because the wrong diff has been fitted.
  21. For the North American market yes, but it is also built in Japan for other markets. Similar to the RX, which is built in Canada and Japan.
  22. They should know everything that is officially communicated to them, and that they have a repair procedure for.
