  1. Keep a close eye on the level. If you are losing fluid from the casing or external oil cooler then it will be easy to spot under the vehicle but there is also an oil cooler built into the radiator so fluid loss will go into the coolant. If too much is lost and the pump can no longer circulate fluid around the cooler then coolant could come back into the transmission which you really don't want to happen. Always use Toyota T-IV fluid.
  2. No they blow, otherwise it would be useless in keeping your back cool pressed against the seat. On vehicles with S-Flow, it is best to turn it off so cool air entering the rear, under the seats, can be drawn in.
  3. No after sales upgrades. Toyota/Lexus hardly ever have dormant features. If a feature isn't included then the sensors aren't in place and a completely different wiring loom is used without the wiring to the sensors. The only exception that I can think of on a Lexus in the last 15 years is the retrofit of cruise control to the CT200h because the wiring is in place and the ECU has the functionality. With regards to blind spot mirror, you would need: The glass with the indicator in it. The mirror connectors won't have space for the additional wiring, the wiring loom won't be in place from the mirror to the ECU, the mirror ECUs are different to standard with the extra functionality, the system works with microwave sensors on either side of the vehicle at the rear (behind the side of the rear bumper) so you need those as well and the wiring.
  4. There have been several Lexus models that have perforated seats without active ventilation - my old GS430 and RX400h were both in that category. The F vehicles certainly aren't fully loaded compared to the Premier models. The GS F for example doesn't have the 3 zone AC system, only 2, nor the ion generator and the seats are only 10-way adjustable rather than 18-way. I'm with you on ventilated seat though, I use the all the time in the Summer, especially if I'm wearing a formal shirt.
  5. Hi, welcome to LOC. Whilst anything is possible it would be extremely expensive to add features unless you had a donor car to take the parts and wiring loom from. The F Sport centre dial can be moved over via a button on the steering wheel, that wheel is only on the F Sport so you would need that in addition to the instrument cluster plus potentially different wiring looms.
  6. Once you get to the vehicle's 5 year anniversary you will be entitled to essentials servicing which is cheaper, but you will always find an indy cheaper - just make sure they use the correct, and expensive, 0W-20 oil.
  7. The downstream sensors are quite reliable so potentially it is a cat issue or an air leak (hole) in the exhaust system. If it is a cat then it is likely to be the main one under the vehicle not the pre-cats on the manifold. Get an MOT/emissions check to see if the reading are high - that will confirm if the cat is at fault.
  8. There is no give in the key card, pressure from sitting on it will fatigue and crack it eventually even though they are quite strong.
  9. It has been dropped across all the models - NX, IS, RC, and RX.
  10. Did you ever get a resolution to this? Mine do the same. Looks like there is a TSB in the US and they will replace the pads with ones with a different material, not sure if there is a similar TSB for Europe.
  11. I'd check out the high current fuses, relays and ignition switch.
  12. They all do this unfortunately, doesn't matter where in the UK they are located.
  13. I believe there is a shutter inside the light that moves out of the way for high beam. Have you checked the high beam doesn't move with AFS? I know the description for AFS always states lo-beam but it was written before Lexus offers Bi-Xenon and they may have never updated the text. If it doesn't then there are guides inside the light that restrict the highbeam to a narrow angle.
  14. That was what my daughter said. She doesn't think any of the neighbours will notice, although she changed her mind once I started the engine
  15. If you have replaced the sensor then it rules it out and the heater circuit. Unlikely to be a cabling fault so replacing the upstream sensor is the next thing to try. I don't think it is the cat, that would produce an efficiency error code.
  16. Downstream O2 sensors are rarely the fault, even if the code states it is. Typically it is a problem with the upstream sensor. Unless it was a problem with the downstream heater in which case the error code is typically accurate. Do you know the actual error code that was produced?
  17. If possible try and find out where it is coming from in the engine bay next time it happens. Possibly a relay not switching correctly, although I'd expect something to not be working correctly if that were the case.
  18. Hill assist only works for 3 seconds. It doesn't apply the brakes, it just holds the pressure you have already applied. I'm sure it does only work when on an incline.
  19. The IS doesn't have an automatic parking brake, unlike some of the other Lexus vehicles. The sound you are hearing is possibly a hydraulic pump?
  20. might be worth paying for an hour or two for access to the workshop manual: https://www.lexus-tech.eu
  21. pre-cats have been known to break up and block the exhaust on the IS200. Initially symptoms are that the engine won't rev high. Random misfire errors are sometimes due to faulty fuel injectors.
