  3. Yes that makes sense. If you start with a reasonable charge level and then have the heating on so the engine will continuously run the battery will get to full charge. In the winter I tended to turn off the heating until I new the engine was warm from normal use and just used the seat heater for warmth.
  4. The procedure is correct for a 2000 LS430. It was the same for my old 2000 GS430 too. You need the 'display' option to appear and then press top left/bottom left as shown in the video repeated three times.
  5. I'd firstly get the fluid level checked. If it is low that could explain the issue, but you then need to understand why the level is low. The other possibility is a shift solenoid has failed, or is dirty/sticking.
  6. Just gets you at the front of the queue once it becomes orderable. Important if your dealership is only given an initial allocation and you want to be in that allocation.
  7. The charge level will typically vary between 2 and 7 bars depending on how much opportunity the hybrid system has to use the battery power. Unless you are lightly braking down a long hill you are unlikely to see it completely full. It doesn't matter if your vehicle is 8 days old or 8 years old - it will behave in the same way. You could drive for 70 miles and only have two bars at the end, and another time 7 bars. The charge in the hybrid battery shouldn't be of any concern to you - the car manages this itself. When it gets low the petrol engine will recharge it. If it gets completely full then regenerative braking will turn off and the mechanical brakes will take on all the stopping.
  8. If you find it makes that much of a difference and worth the expense then why not use it all the time? How much difference is the fuel cost in your area? For me it is an extra 10p per litre, around 9%, but makes less than 5% difference in usage.
  9. No the ACIS valve - or the Vacuum Switching Valve that controls the ACIS. Check its connector, then replace the valve. When the valve opens it shortens the airflow distance into the engine, allowing maximum power. With the valve closed the air has to travel a greater distance which improves low end torque. If you didn't want to fix it you could probably use a resistor to simulate the actuator's coil so the ECU doesn't detect an error.
  10. What was originally fitted, 235/55 18? If so the closest 19" would be 235/50 19. 55 profile makes the diameter 3.5% larger and 45 would be 3% smaller - either will throw your speedo/odometer out quite a bit is one direction or the other. How close is the standard wheel from the strut?
  11. I'd say the series II RX (2003-2009) air suspension is a bit unreliable and of all Lexus vehicles I'd say the series III GS 300/450h is the least reliable. No major issues reported with the series III RX450h.
  12. Just rumoured at the moment. The CT doesn't sell that well in the US which is the reason people think it will be replaced with the UX. If Lexus want to have another model in the portfolio then we could have both - The new Auris (which the CT is based) uses the same platform as the UX and will get the 250h drivetrain.
  13. There is no camber adjustment on the rear but inside edge wear is normally due to a toe issue that can be adjusted.
  14. Older Toyota/Lexus models don't work well with the cheap readers that don't support some of the legacy protocols.
  15. I haven't heard of this occurring for years but suspension packing blocks have been known to be left in place - they are installed for the vehicle's boat trip half way around the world.
  16. Certainly doesn't sound like a belt. I'll move this into the main IS forum rather than engine so more people will see it.
  17. Normally that sort of noise is a drive belt slipping. I believe the 220d as a single belt that drives all the ancillaries which also has a tensioner. Best to check the belt and tensioner are in good condition, if they are then I'd make sure the water pump isn't starting to seize.
  18. Well you are obviously wrong, otherwise they wouldn't sell any vehicles. The GS may seise production, mainly because the GS sales figures have dropped. In the past it sold very well. In the UK the additional models (CT, NX and now UX) make keeping the GS too expensive and unnecessary. In 2016, the BMW 525 sold about 3 to 1 compared to the GS (300h and 450h combined). Other years are similar.
