  1. warnings typically clear if the fault goes away for three consecutive ignition cycles. I'd put it down as a spurious error unless it comes back. Q4 - yes I believe that is the ignition count since the fault occurred and the freeze frame data was stored.
  2. They have much more choice, whereas the UK models come somewhat fully loaded. Individual options, including the orange callipers like the GS F and multiple wheel choices, plus a bunch of different packages including: Premium (leather heated/vented seats, memory positions, blind spot monitor, rain-sensing wipers) Performance (carbon roof and wing, plus TVD) Navigation All-weather (headlamp washers, heated steering wheel) Most of the pics of the RC F in the US with a carbon hood are either imported parts or 3rd parties selling true CF hoods, not CFRP
  3. Hi Craig The misfire and hesitation at 25 mph, did these occur at the same time? If so I wouldn't spend time thinking about the transmission. Is the idle rpm low? Do you have any warning lights? There are a few potential causes such as fuel injectors dirty (have you tried an injector cleaner?), oxygen sensors, VVTi oil control valve, carbon build up on the intake / valves due to vehicle having direct injection. How many miles has the vehicle done?
  4. It could do with AWD. It breaks traction all the time Biggest issue for me is torque steer with FWD vehicles. The RX400h suffers from this quite a bit. Will be interesting to see how the ES copes in this regard.
  5. Why question what others do? It is their decision. Some people like fresh air, for others too much AC causes health issues, and as Pete stated there is a bigger performance hit when driving at altitude. Lexus give people the choice, if a vehicle has AC they don't insist on fixed glass in the doors and no sunroof.
  6. It isn't like the newer modular platforms. N platform based vehicles have the same basic design but are different in size and strengthening for example. We know the RC F uses a GS front end, IS-C middle, and IS (series III) rear end. They are all based on the N platform but uses three different designed sections.
  7. I guess all the Toyota press cars and dealer demonstrators really bumped up the figures in the first year.
  8. IS200 water pump isn't driven by the timing belt but that belt does have to be removed to gain access to the pump so can make economic sense to replace at the same time. But if it has only done 30k miles then no reason to think it won't last for several years.
  9. Soarer has build quality of the GS. Shared many component with it and the Supra.
  10. Back in Jan 2017 Lexus GB state the following: RC F Sales in 2016: 34 Cumulative sales since launch (2014): 251
  11. My 400h was 9 years old when I sold it, my wife's old Prius was nine years old when I sold it, my Supra was 8 years old when I sold it.......all of them had working AC which was nice and cold and were never topped up, although I'll concede probably not as cold as they were out of the factory. If they lost 10% per year they would have stopped working after five years due to low pressure.
  12. Definitely worth using the parking brake every few weeks at a minimum. Or get rid of vehicles before they are three years old so you don't have to worry about MOTs. I prefer the lazy man's GS F. Put the transmission in park and let the vehicle apply the parking brake itself
  13. No it is a completely different series of engine. It is similar to the smaller one that will be fitted to the UX. These are more thermally efficient compared to the NX engine. https://newsroom.toyota.co.jp/en/powertrain/engine/ Both the engine and motors are more powerful, each more than 15 hp, but total system output is limited. The drivetrain is more efficient too so you probably get more than 15 hp extra at the wheels. It should make a noticeable difference to the NX, just need a series II chassis to drop it into.
  14. to keep him in business? I've never had any of my vehicles topped up, except one that had a leak in the system. I also don't have to get my fridge/freezer topped up every couple of years. I would have thought every five years would be sufficient, especially on an older Lexus where things were built properly back in the day.
  15. We get to hear more about it tomorrow. Not sure this picture/colour does it any favours: https://www.lexus.eu/car-models/es/#hero
  16. In drive the RC F works somewhat the same. If you use the paddles you can limit the maximum gear the transmission will go into, but the shifts themselves are automatic. The exception is if you reach engine red line, if will shift to the next gear. Put it in manual and you have full control and red line will not force a change up.
  17. If there isn't a problem then the refrigerant wouldn't need topping up as it is a sealed system.
  18. Not really, which is why Lexus now provides a paid for leather option on the carbon
  19. Is this in a certain gear, at certain engine rpm etc? Has your EGR valve been cleaned recently? It could be your MAF sensor, either needs cleaning or replacing.
