  1. Best to get the customisation changed so either shifting into P will unlock all doors, or opening the drivers door will unlock all doors. There is also a customisation to allow the hatch to be opened when the doors are locked.
  2. There is possibly nothing worse that holding a hybrid in D on the parking brake. The system uses the main brake pedal as a signal to provide hybrid power or not. Take your foot off the brake and it uses the electric motor to provide forward creep, simulating a standard automatic transmission. Holding it in that mode on a handbrake is depleting the batteries and heating up the electric motor. Either hold the vehicle in D using the main brake, or place it in Park.
  3. There is no legal requirement, and in fact it is against the law for a manufacturer to insist on using them for servicing - however this for the original manufacturer's warranty only. Used vehicle warranties are different and it is part of the T&Cs of the Lexus used warranty that it is serviced by a Lexus dealer. If you don't like it you are free to purchase some other used car warranty - hence the law isn't applied in this case. Toyota/Lexus use different brake OEMs, for the majority of vehicles destined for Europe they use Textar.
  4. I'm sure there must be some recourse, and the dealer has some against the person who sold it to them as they ask you about previous accidents, use of taxi etc. when trading in a vehicle. The Lexus dealers I've dealt with certainly didn't try and hide the fact that they were selling a press vehicle.
  5. You don't need to fit Lexus ones, although they obviously won't be covered by your warranty but they are service items so aren't covered anyway. Lexus also don't have to fit them, you just need to have your regular services conducted by a Lexus dealer.
  6. I did. Although I was told it wasn't tracked, just used on the road. My previous car, an IS300h, was also a Toyota press car. The only issues I had with that were it was one of the first ones to be manufactured and so had a couple of minor issues that TSBs were issued for and all sorted under warranty. My GS is a 2016 model so any issues found in the first 2015 models would have been resolved. There are so few Fs about you almost don't have a choice, Press and demonstrator vehicles seem to account for a lot of the ones for sale - more so for the GS compared to RC.
  7. Is the engine actually turning over and not firing, or nothing is happening?
  8. but this: Unfortunately Ultra Blue, or Ultrasonic Blue, wasn't available until 2010.
  9. The reply from Lexus just seems a generic one from someone who hasn't bothered to understand the issue. Yes the CVT transmission allows engine speed and vehicle speed to be completely independent, however there is no reason why the engine rpm would remain high when it isn't required. In Sport mode it will maintain a higher speed so that power is more quickly available should you need it, hence my question whether it still does this in standard mode.
  10. I'm with Direct Line. I actually got a premium decrease compared to my '13 IS300h F Sport, although the excess went up. I think it is around £450. No need for a tracker.
  11. You should be able to check here: https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk or here: https://forms.toyota.co.uk/recall-checker?lexus=true I got a letter though a couple of weeks ago.
  12. My 400h definitely didn't behave in that way, and I don't think there is a customisation to make it do so. Really not sure what the issue is other than a sticking locking mechanism on the rear hatch. When you try and open it, do you get a beep or any other indication that it is trying? What happens if you try and open the hatch when the vehicle is locked, without unlocking the doors first (that should work)?
  13. It is a weak spot compared to the GS, RX, and LS, but not compared to other manufacturers.
  14. Has anybody seen the instrument cluster from the vehicle up for sale?
  15. Black or red (pink) then. Choices are Arctic Pearl, Palladio Silver, Cadoxton Slate, Velvet Black or Mesa Red
  16. Press the button on the rear of the hatch and pull it up. Then close it by manually pulling it down and closing (don't just rest in the close position and let it automatically pull itself fully shut). As if you were opening / closing the door on a vehicle without any power lift function.
  17. Definitely isn't normal. Try initialising the system by opening the hatch fully manually and then closing it again manually.
  18. Looks like one of the few has been written off given a full interior is for sale https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-GS-GSF-F-SPORT-COMPLETE-INTERIOR-SEAT-LEATHER-DOOR-PANEL-RHD/322923160776?hash=item4b2fb864c8:g:p2IAAOSwTY9ZZzqW
