  1. The IS F colour code is 11GY39, but it means nothing to anyone outside of Toyota or the wheel OEM
  2. I think they check the lights are working if fitted, but the info seems to imply they will check reversing lights actually are fitted on vehicles from 1 Sept. 2009.
  3. You certainly you won't have rubbing issues that you can get on the front on full lock when putting on wider tyres by just going 10mm wider. Diameter will be around 1.5% bigger, so you will go slightly faster for the same wheel revolution - will actually bring the speedo down to be more accurate. The biggest issue is the wheel width. I believe the stock rims are 17x8", and 245 is seen as the maximum width for an 8" rim, and ideally should be narrower. The tyre will fit but will bulge out and possibly could be a reason an insurance company would look for when trying to not pay out.

  7. Change it to Bluetooth and you don't have to be on the hotspot screen for the vehicle to connect. That restriction is a wifi only security and battery saving feature.
  8. What transmission are you going to use? You are almost certainly going to need a custom propshaft as the length will need to be different.
  9. An advantage of front wheel drive and transverse engine mounting, reduces the front end length so you can extend the cabin and boot.
  10. The current series IV arrived around Jan 2016. Easy to tell by looking at the mpg figures if it is a series III or IV, other than looking pictures. Yes you would expect them all to be listed consistently, sadly there are a lot of things lacking on the Lexus GB website.
  11. Some may be series III and others are series IV, and some are quoting petrol engine, and others combined hybrid output. The series IV has a combined max. power output of 313 DIN hp, with petrol engine at 262 DIN hp The series III was 299 DIN hp combined, and petrol engine 249 DIN hp.
  12. So 40 year old cars that are more rust and filler than metal no longer need an MOT How would it get through the brake test if a disc was missing? Surely bureaucracy to keep the government department responsible for these 'improvements' in employment.
  13. Maybe try an F Sport, as they have different suspension which some feel ride more comfortably. Or an RX, much more GS like.
  14. You need to get a fault code reader that can read the error code(s) produced. One that is actually able to read all codes from all systems, not just a generic OBDII reader.

  16. That is disappointing. I guess it would be different if you had asked and they lied, but technically they are within the law if you didn't ask - you expect more from main dealers.
  17. I believe it applies the main brakes, not the handbrake, and as I said above, if they used the handbrake it would have been integrated so it doesn't cause a problem.
  18. Try starting an advert on auto trader - it will give you an estimated valuation before you commit to placing the advert. Or try webuyanycar and assume you can get more privately. LS prices at that age do tend to be all over the place. A Lexus dealer wouldn't sell it due to the age so they won't offer you anything realistic
  19. It does hold the brake pressure rather than applying the parking brake. But if it did use the parking brake, because the vehicle's electronics has performed that action it could feed that input into the hybrid system so it doesn't try and pull away.
  20. Nope, not in any shape or form. It is a Toyota engine, however they have a 50+ year working relationship with Yamaha who do a lot of development work on their cylinder heads.
  21. I'd say it will be more difficult. Toyota and Yamaha have already extracted another 60 bhp from the engine going from the IS F to the RC F so you need to work even harder to get more. Some of the extra power was from redesigned intake and exhaust headers, but to get more, and to maintain reliability, they needed to go for expensive internal lightening and balancing, to get an extra 500 rpm - they wouldn't have bothered if it was easy to get additional power with a remap and an exhaust.
  22. The 2UR-GSE engine is excellent at protecting itself though. The redline is very low when cold and gradually increases as it gets warmer. The transmission will also restrict the higher gears to protect it, and strain in the engine. Modern synthetic oils also offer great protection right from start up. My concern is more around the suspension components, if it has been repeatedly smashed over kerbs on a track, rather than the engine or transmission.
