  1. I doubt the UK has much influence here. The 10th anniversary is available worldwide and is pretty much the same in all regions - just with keeping the existing regional differences (e.g. US doesn't get the carbon 'hood').
  2. Very rare for Prius, Auris, CT200h or RX400h batteries to give issues. The series III GS450h battery issues, as a percentage of vehicles sold, whilst very low is significantly higher than any other Toyota hybrid.
  3. At high revs the air will never get the chance to be heated, too much flow. At idle it is a different story, enough to be a problem I don't know.
  4. You should be asking for a refund on the first one as it clearly wasn't faulty and the garage misdiagnosed.
  5. Check that the engine check light comes on with the ignition and goes out once checks are complete. There have been vehicles with warning lights removed or covered over to hide problems. Biggest issue outside suspension and exhaust is hybrid battery failures. Not really sure what you can do to protect yourself against this as if there is an issue at the time of viewing it will be obvious but you could be unlucky and start to have an issue just months down the road.
  6. there are a few suggestions throughout this thread over on US LOC https://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/54072-serious-door-lock-problem/
  7. I believe all the current models can display a rev counter, either only when in sport mode or as a customisation. Slightly strange that the series III RX didn't have that option as it does have the simulated manual mode. The previous 400h didn't have any manual mode so there really was no reason for a rev counter.
  8. I think there is an issue with the Lexus Europe map site. When you go through get a map, select GS F and enter the part code you get no update. However if you Check Coverage, select GS F, don't know the part code and select Europe you can put the recommendation into your basket and you will see the following which is the latest version:
  9. GS F only has one Nav option, Premium Nav - system 15MM EU 2018-2019 v1 (released April 2018, map data: November 2017) I believe is the latest one, and V2 should be in Oct (two releases per year). https://toyotamaps.online/map-updates/toyota-lexus-navigation-gen8-9-microsd-update
  10. This has been talked about for years now but hasn't come out. I think the refresh time and delay of the camera/screen makes it greatly inferior to a mirror but I guess at some point technology improves and will be cheap enough to make it work economically. I wonder how much mpg improvement and noise reduction it will actual make though? Early prototypes I've seen had virtually no visible camera bulge, similar to the little aerodynamic bump you can see in the video, rather than quite a large stalk.
  11. The inside door panel comes off as below, not sure if you can get to all the screws with the door shut though.
  12. Taking this thread a bit too far off-topic but as you are clearly ignorant to how the transmission works in your vehicle you could read the following site: http://prius.ecrostech.com/original/PriusFrames.htm http://prius.ecrostech.com/original/Understanding/ContinuouslyVariableTransmission.htm For any given road speed, the computer figures out how fast the ring gear is spinning. From the power demand, it decides how fast it would like the ICE to spin. Then it just solves a simple equation to figure out how fast MG1 must spin. Then, it adjusts the power drawn off by MG1 to speed up or slow down the ICE until the desired condition is achieved.
  13. Every couple is still probably sufficient unless the fluid drained out is particularly dirty or burnt smelling.
  14. Who lets you download a map update? I didn't think Lexus provide any free updates, unlike Toyota who give you three years. Map updates contain firmware, so if you can get a map update then you will be updated. Firmware updates however come out more frequently if there are bugs that need to be fixed, so rather than wait for a new map you can get a firmware update. You don't have to pay, your vehicle is under warranty. Tell them you have issues with your nav and they will apply the latest firmware FOC. Once it is out of warranty the dealer will charge you labour for them to update it.
  15. Check for snakes under the seat 🐍
  16. Not really. The CVT allows the engine to rev up essentially without load. The same as having it in neutral and revving the engine. I'm with Peter really, in a hybrid the engine is mainly running below 2000 rpm or giving up maximum power above 5000 rpm. The throttle pedal doesn't have a direct relationship with the engine throttle as the electric motors, and battery charging, affect what the engine is doing. Might be interesting for a few weeks to understand what the engine does in different conditions but long term I don't really see the benefit. Good that you found a solution to your problem though 🙂
  17. Yes they do. Technically Lexus state it lasts a lifetime but probably best to drain/replace every couple of years once the vehicle is 8 to 10 years old, or at 80k miles.
  18. Possibly, certainly after 5 minutes on a car alarm it is considered noise pollution in the UK.
  19. I see it as a belt and braces feature. Lock the car by touching the door handle but if you forget its nice to know the car will lock itself once you get a certain distance away. Would be difficult for an insurance company to argue you didn't lock the vehicle.
  20. Toyota Guildford won't touch it, the Lexus dealership is owned by the same franchise and so they will only let the right hand side building work on it.
  21. No, that is normally an electrical issue unless there is a problem with the inverter. I'd try another 12v battery first if you can.
  22. They lied. The hybrids are more economical than standard models, even with the smaller engine. 450h is definitely better than the 400h - you should see 3 mpg or more. What that figure is depends on your driving style and type of roads you drive on, but given the same conditions the 450h should be better. I'd normally get around 33 mpg from my 400h around town and drop to 28 on runs. 450h courtesy cars I've had were always better than that.
  23. Shoes will outlast the vehicle unless you are in the habit of engaging the parking brake whilst moving. Or constantly driving off without releasing the brake first.
