  1. Take a look here for a starter: The wood pack is an option, not standard on any grade, so you won't see many with this. Massaging seats are not an option on any grade.
  2. Quality is fine, just as good, if not better, than the current genuine ones Lexus, which are nothing like the ones from 10+ years ago. The lip is quite flexible so shouldn't be an issue when the seats are down.
  3. I believe the 283hp option refers to the facelift model with the 6-speed transmission. Looking on toyodiy.com the 5 speed 2003 model has a different part code for the front brake disc compared to the 6 speed 2003 model so there is some difference: http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_E_2003_LEXUS_LS430_UCF30R-AEAGKW_4303.html http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_E_2003_LEXUS_LS430_UCF30R-AETGKW_4303.html
  4. old buying guide here - a few things to check shame the wheels are non-standard.
  5. it's quite thin though, doesn't take much to puncture it - certainly not the domestic kind.
  6. Not only people wanting something different but with the 10% import tax coming to an end over the next few years there will be more of a level playing field. That advantage could even shift the other way with electric vehicles as the Japanese manufactures have easier access to large battery manufacturers such as Panasonic, Sanyo, NEC, Yuasa etc.
  7. I'm sure it would work but copper isn't really strong enough for the constant vibration and potential for impact from stones etc. It's one thing to lose power steering if you spring a leak but to quite another for your transmission to run dry and be damaged.
  8. No they don't, not anything passed the 400h and certainly not the IS300h. Normal use - I don't have Toyota's definition, and it doesn't really have to be defined, but it would be the same for hybrid and non-hybrid. They expect the battery to last x number of days without use, and y as a minimum run time to recharge the battery in normal use. Batteries and maximum charge current are therefore sized to achieve their targets. Energy taken from the 12v battery in a hybrid is much less than a conventional vehicle, because it isn't used to turn over the engine to start it, and therefore the charge rate can be much less for the same expected recharge time y. reeac's comment that you have to drive the vehicle much longer then a conventional vehicle to keep the battery charged isn't the case. I can leave an IS300h for weeks without a discharge issue. I can also just make tiny 1 miles journeys day after day without the battery discharging. When the battery has lost some capacity due to age and/or abuse then yes you will have problems, but that isn't normal conditions that the vehicle was designed for. Under its designed conditions it operates fine.
  9. Wasn't always the case. The IS200 sport, GS sport etc. were designed and modified in Europe/UK from Toyota TTE and other European sourced parts (O.Z. wheels) - Lexus GB would order a standard GS300 for example and replace suspension, wheels, and body parts on import to convert it to a GS300 sport. That all stopped when TTE/Toyota Motorsport GmbH turned into the Formula 1 team. Back then, Lexus didn't exist in Japan and Lexus models had the Toyota badge, with TRD developing performance parts for them. The F division occurred very soon after Lexus launched in Japan, in part because they can't really use the TRD name on a Lexus, even though TRD as still producing the parts, and also in part to compete with AMG, M division, RS in the US - Europe has never really been a consideration for Lexus designers except for the CT.
  10. you can access the wiring diagrams for €3 + vat per hour at Lexus' official site: https://www.lexus-tech.eu
  11. Costs more to paint them so the consumer should pay more. The alternative is the cost is hidden in the base price and someone who just wants a solid colour pays more than they should.
  12. You are twisting my answer to your own question. reeac asked why is there such a low charging current. There isn't a need to have a higher current charing because in normal use, and with a battery in normal condition, very little is needed to recharge the battery - unlike a conventional vehicle where a starter motor is pulling extremely high current from the 12v battery.
  13. In normal use they shouldn't get that discharged for it to be a problem.
  14. My dealer confirmed that their 4-wheel alignment check is just a visual check to make sure tyres are wearing evenly. 😞
  15. Prius has them between doors and seat backs which are difficult to obstruct, 400h has them below seat base where your feet are - can be obstructed with bags etc. but in both cases they draw in air from the main part of the cabin. Given that corrosion seems to play a part in some failures (first pic on page 2), I wonder if it draws in moist air from near the rear window and passes it across the batteries.
  16. Yeah, the LC, both 500 and 500h, with sport or sport+ configurations have a carbon roof. Sport+ also has carbon scuff plates.
  17. If it was sold in the UK probably £45k to £50k so you can already purchase an RC F for RC350 money.
  18. Previously you just entered destinations which were downloaded and saved into memory. Now the portal seems to force you to enter a start and end point. I don't see why you would want to enter journeys into the portal. Even then, isn't the vehicle calculating the route so it would have got it wrong had you just entered the destination manually?
  19. Not really, compromised cooling design or moisture protection possible. Source are LOC and TOC forums - owners reporting problems. We have 10 to 1 issues with GS450h batteries compared to RX400h on these LOC forums, and the 400h outsold the GS 5 to 1 according to Lexus official UK sales figures.
