  1. It is partly because the RAV is a new vehicle and the NX is showing its age now but still a couple of years away from a full revision. The added benefit for the RAV is 5 year warranty and 30% cheaper servicing costs.
  2. you need a data connection, either wifi or bluetooth. The vehicle will then download the destination as a memory preset.
  3. 103 Nm - same for all Toyota/Lexus cars.
  4. I accept the NX may be good compared to some of the competition but it isn't as good as it could be which is a shame. The RX is larger, heavier and with a much more powerful, smoother and quieter drivetrain and yet can almost match it for economy. The NX engine doesn't have direct injection which makes it lack some power and the transmission makes the engine rev much sooner than in the IS/GS, and the hybrid system is 1 to 2 generations out of date. The new Toyota RAV4 is where the NX should be, with a modern engine and hybrid system. They are the same size yet the RAV is faster and more powerful but with over 20% economy. The NX has a 35.5 to 40 mpg Combined – WLTP against 49.5 to 50.4 mpg for the RAV.
  5. US and UK vehicles have very different personalisation settings. The list provided in this thread is a US list. Carista or similar would list the options available to your vehicle. If it isn't listed, the firmware doesn't support it. Auto locking seems to be one of those features that comes and goes with different years with no consistency across different Lexus models.
  6. Have you tried getting the list of nearby stations and selecting one of those or are you just going through presets, because if they were set out of area they may not be available and the system doesn't always do a good job of finding another station.
  7. It doesn't have the same motor, that is one of the issues with the NX - lacks a bit of power and economy.
  8. I don't agree with that. Moving from an series I RX300 to RX400h was a massive upshift in refinement for me. Less noise, greater comfort, much smoother ride, no transmission jolts between gears. Series II RX has the best looks too out of all of them.
  9. I go out of my way to avoid them. After they damaged my vehicle on three separate occasions and had other poor service issues I've given up on them.
  10. I believe it still only covers the battery - the easy bit to get fixed by specialists. A failure of the inverter, transmission, or electric motors however will cost you four figures at a main dealer.
  11. I believe it is in the boot, right hand side near the rear lights.
  12. Toyota claim they can charge at a higher rate on NiMh so you get more regen benefit and they work better at lower temperatures. Quality NiMh batteries can typically go through double the number of recharge cycles compared to Li-ion. They do use Li-ion in the plug-in Prius though where the extra capacity vs weight/size makes it a better choice.
  13. US have lower speed limits and less aggressive driving style (in general terms). The series I RX for example had a transmission oil cooler fitted as standard in Europe, not in the US. Lexus' reason was higher driving speeds so it isn't just service intervals that are changed between countries.
  14. No. In the same way that if a computer had a 500GB HDD and you fitted a 1TB one instead. You have extra capacity should you need it, otherwise it behaves the same, and if you use that extra capacity it takes longer to back it up (charge it up).
  15. Intervals are different in US and even Europe compared to the UK. Mainly down to higher speeds, fast acceleration, and more stop/start in UK/Europe but some of it is just marketing - what is the norm in each country and what the competition offer. US may have longer intervals on a timing belt but have an oil change every 5-6k miles which is the norm there.
  16. The 12v battery is charged by the hybrid system, not the ICE, but obviously if the hybrid battery gets low the ICE will start up. Having a bigger battery in itself won't mean it needs greater charging - only if you use that extra capacity, and in the times you need that extra capacity (e.g. three weeks on holiday) I'm sure a little, almost undetectable, drop in mpg is way less of an inconvenience than not being able to start your vehicle.
  17. Discarded from the engine bay in that if your battery doesn't fit in it then what else are you going to do? People may still keep it in their garage. It is a 2mm piece of plastic. Doesn't protect against the cold, possibly more of a heat shield than protection against the cold but probably more of a physical insulator than anything else.
  18. yes, it is standard fit. However if a different sized battery has been fitted it would have been discarded. Not sure it really is important.
  19. There is a little metal spring on the hinge that pops the door open. Provided it wasn't iced up it may have snapped. I believe the part code is 77360-21010. Do a google image search for a picture.
  20. The GS series IV doesn't have a floating calliper design and therefore doesn't have sliding pins. Normally the wear indicator acts in the way described but given the circumstances it probably is grit/dirt stuck in there.
