  1. Yes I believe so, either with ignition or when 'Ready' - cannot remember which.
  2. This site states 14 replaces both 12 and 13. Which I would assume to mean 13 is compatible with 12 but no way to be 100% sure https://www.megazip.net/zapchasti-dlya-avtomobilej/toyota/harrier-38271/mcu36-54660/mcu36w-awagk-909398/electronic-modulated-suspension-17715564#
  3. It doesn't matter. The long term trims are stored in the ECU even when the ignition is turned off. This is one reason why an ECU reset / disconnect battery is a good idea if you switch to a different fuel grade, so the long term learning is reset.
  4. Typically faults to the O2 sensor heaters, slow reacting O2 sensor, Cat below efficiency threshold, and possibly even misfire errors if it is intermittent. Other issues with O2 sensors or MAF sensors may affect fuel economy but the driver may not notice. Hard sensor faults will typically put the vehicle into limp mode so you definitely will notice an issue.
  5. The dance happens when the ignition is turned on. I don't think the headlights need to be turned on. Turn on the lights and then turn on the ignition to see it happening (or leave on auto and test at night). The system will check the height sensors (both front and rear) and move the lights. If something doesn't work correctly you will get a warning light. There will also be a fault code stored in the ECU - that will help determine what the issue is.
  6. Yes that is correct. Actually I think even the standard unit on the facelift can play MP3. The are WMA and MP3 markings near the disc slot on the headunit if it does support those formats.
  7. If you have some ODBII software you should be able to get sensor readings. Make sure temperature sensors are displaying something that looks correct - e.g. if it is 7 degrees outside then if your sensor is stating -20 then there is an issue - likewise for the coolant temp which you should see rise as the engine warms up. If you can see the long term fuel trims they should ideally be in the middle around 0% (goes from -100% to +100%), and more importantly the left and right banks should be similar.
  8. Rear diff - The European schedule states every 4 years. UK may be different, should be stated in your service book. Oil grade is 75W-85 GL-5.
  9. I think MP3 support came in with the facelift, part way through 2006 when the RX350 can out and is only on the ML system.
  10. Sensors may not work correctly without triggering an error. A decent mechanic should be able to check this along with the fuel trims.
  11. The knowledgebase article I linked to is for a GS430 - the same engine as the LS430 and uses the same part.
  12. I don't think they come with both full manuals these days. Download them from https://www.lexus.co.uk/my-lexus/
  13. That is the air temperature sensor. The wires are down inside the tube - those are what need cleaning.
  14. Ideally you will need to check yourself once dealers get their UXs. I believe the new engine/transmission and build techniques of the UX will make it quieter than the NX which is an older design.
  15. Plugs won't cause that amount of a drop in economy without you also noticing poor running or a misfire error code occurring. Clean the MAF Check your brakes aren't binding Possibly poorly performing O2 sensors, not enough to trigger a warning but will cause over fuelling. Need an OBDII reader to check your short and longterm fuel trims - other sensors should also be checked, e.g. coolant temp sensor.
  16. It is actually surprisingly low. People will normally go way over that figure if they aren't using a torque wrench and just use a brace. 103 Nm = 76 ft lb in old money.
  17. Do the lights perform their dance when you first start the vehicle? You will get AFS warning if that self test doesn't complete properly so maybe one of the motors and/or position sensors isn't working correctly.
  18. That isn't true. If you still have an in date MOT and it didn't fail because of a dangerous issue you can drive it away.
  19. you can get wiring diagrams and repair manuals from Lexus - around £3 per hour to access them https://www.lexus-tech.eu
  20. There are dozens of reason why the light may be on. Fuel cap is just one, and rarely the issue but if it isn't put on tight then the pressure isn't correct in the tank and you get an error - which will clear after the issue is resolved and you go through three ignition/engine start/stop cycles. The European series II GS pre-facelift (1998-2000) isn't fully ODBII compliant and many readers won't work. 10/2000-2005 facelift models I believe are ok.
  21. No idea, the same part was used on the series II throughout its life (1998-2004). Must just be the incorrect one in the packet? I think the exhaust one is longer, maybe you had two the same? Correct part code is 11213-46030
  22. Not heard of this issue before, I wouldn't say it is common. Maybe not related but I would recommend you drain/fill the transmission pan every couple of years to help keep the transmission fluid in good condition - the series I transmission, whilst not weak, can suffer issues. Only use Toyota T-IV fluid.
