  1. If you want to waste your money and pollute the environment then knock yourself out. However Toyota Super Long Life Coolant (pink coolant than is standard in every Lexus for the last 12 years) should only first be changed at 100k miles and then every 60k miles - there is a newer coolant that lasts even longer but that isn't standard yet on most Toyotas. S-LLC coolant is used for the engine cooling and the hybrid inverter. Transmission fluid doesn't have a change interval on the IS300h. Only to be inspected every 4 years. I'd personally change it every 100k miles/10 years. The rear diff oil is changed every 4 years. If you have a service plan then the intervals specified by Toyota/Lexus will be followed, the fact they are written on the breakdown is a bit misleading.
  2. certainly not, it should only be first changed at 100k miles.
  3. permanent 4 wheel drive systems want all 4 wheels to be the same so there isn't uneven load on the differentials - the wheels should also be periodically rotated to make sure they all wear evenly. Not an issue on a modern Lexus. There really isn't an issue mixing tyres across axles, more important to have the same on each axle. Although vastly different grips levels would make the front and rear handling a bit unpredictable, such as mixing winter and summer tyres - Cross Climates are summer tyres.
  4. Is this a new problem, or something that has always happened? Are you in sport mode or just normal?
  5. They probably paid around £20k for it and will spend £1k on warranty and service etc. so there will be room for some movement, or it will sit there for a month or two and the price will gradually come down.
  6. doesn't sound too bad. What would it have been in a normal vehicle stuck in traffic like that, 20mpg?
  7. Yes there are two pumps. When you operate the switch, do you hear the pump running?
  8. Are you sure it isn't just the battery on its way out? The keyless entry system doesn't use that much power - there is a way to disable it on newer vehicles but not sure about the series II IS - if you can it would be via OBD software rather than a menu option (Carista etc.).
  9. Suspension was revised three years running - 2011, 2012 and 2013. IS-F v1.pdf
  10. Final spec versions came in Jan 2013 and are very rare.
  11. Almost certainly the head gasket I'm afraid. Get the engine pressure tested (again) to confirm. A stuck thermostat could cause this issue, or trapped air in the cooling system which expands when hot and pushes out the coolant, but these are both very unlikely given known issues with this engine and loss of coolant through the expansion overflow being one of the clear signals.
  12. If you fail the fast idle test it will be repeated, which in your case passed at the second attempt. The second test is done to help get the engine and cats up to temperature. Then the standard idle test must pass for the vehicle to complete the emission test.
  13. Life's too short IMO. A tank of fuel is about 50 Kg in the IS - if you only fill up to half that's only a 25 Kg saving which probably isn't going to gain you 1% in mpg. If you have to make a slight detour to get to the petrol station then the extra trips will almost wipe out any financial savings.

  15. Plenty of Prius and other Toyota hybrids doing very high mileage with no engine failures on standard service intervals, same as Toyota standard petrol engined vehicles. I don't see any reason to change your oil at shorter intervals than 10k. The synthetic oil used more than stands up to that interval as plenty of oil analysis reports have shown - which people in the US love to get done. The fact that people in the US have consumption issues somewhat shows this isn't an interval issue as they tend to change every 6k miles.
  16. In built up areas you ideally need to get up to speed responsibly quickly, come off the accelerator so the EV light comes on and then press the accelerator just enough to maintain speed without the EV light going out again.
  17. Yes, different system used in the US. Same with all Lexus models.
  18. I'd check your battery is good and the condition of the earthing from the battery to the body and body to the engine. P1663 is a VVT engine error and P1760 is transmission - these are unrelated and therefore something common such as poor earthing is the likely cause. Also check the connectors on the ECU for corrosion/water ingress. What errors were you getting to need to replace both O2 sensors - normally only one fails at a time. Was any wiring damaged when the sensors were replaced?
  19. You will probably get mid 40s once you get use to driving a hybrid.
  20. All have a revering camera, even the S grade. Launch specifications attached, which didn't change too much until the facelift. 1411467836THE_NEW_LEXUS_NX_300h_UK_EQUIPMENT_SPECIFICATONS.pdf
  21. You shouldn't discharge lithium ion batteries and you should avoid them going flat to prolong their life.
  22. It may have been 100k miles in the past but it has been 140k miles for some years now, possibly when they changed from 1 to 2 year policies.
  23. There are less than 65 registered GS Fs in the country. Mine is often passing through the NE Hampshire/Surrey border.
