  1. The new WLTP mpg figure for the RX450h is 35.3, quite a jump down from 51. This new test system is much more real world, and beatable if you drive carefully. What do you get in your 400h?
  2. Vehicles produced before 2003 are stamped into the bulkhead with a aluminium chassis plate riveted to the bulkhead Vehicles from 2003 have a chassis number stamped into the bulkhead but the chassis plate is now a white label at the bottom of the B pillar on the passenger side. The chassis number for the UK IS200 comprise of 17 letters and numbers and start JT.. I think the number may also be visible at the bottom of the windscreen. No idea about the bootlid code, if there is one that shouldn't be needed - just the VIN.
  3. There was a £3k difference in price between the SE and Luxury when launched but the SE is still very well spec'd. The main things you miss from the Luxury are: 20" wheels, roof rails, Premium Nav with 12" screen, no-touch tailgate opening, wireless phone charger. Maybe there has been enough change in the lineup over the last 4 years that it is now worth putting a list together.
  4. Tein and HKS are both excellent - but they both have different models to suit different use cases.
  5. Unless you can see the cable through the grill and can pull it with some pliers you may have to come up from underneath or break the grill.
  6. The US F Sport components used to just be the European standard ones as their standard is softer than in Europe - that may not be the case anymore though. I'd go with coilovers, the 10 mm difference on the F Sport is hardly noticeable. Just be careful with coilovers as many are harder than stock even on the softest setting.
  7. There is no Sport. When first launched there where 3 grades; GS 450h, GS 450h SE and GS 450h SE-L. In 2010 the base GS 450h was dropped. Specs did change from year to year but at a high level: Base - Fabric interior - leather interior/electric seats (option) SE adds to base - rear side airbags, bootlid spoiler, Multimedia ML Nav system and reversing camera, full leather interior, memory seats, rear sunshade, sunroof (option). SE-L adds to SE - ACC/PCS, sunroof (as standard), wooden steering wheel (option). At some point (possibly 2010) the ACC/PCS was removed as standard from the SE-L and became a costed option.
  8. Yes, only the petrol variants had lowered suspension - they have different springs/shocks compared to the other petrol grades. For the diesels they all share the same components across the grades.
  9. 10 mm. From Lexus GB's press info:
  10. Unfortunately it looks like that part is unique to the Lexus IS. No other Toyota vehicle is using that part.
  11. Torque steer definitely worse on the 400h compared to the 450h, but still there on the newer models. You have 200+ bhp going to the front wheels if you put your foot down.
  12. Possibly the wrong ones or not OEM quality.
  13. the info is for a LHD, parts location attached. How much swaps over I don't know - most of it should. PARLOC.PDF
  14. and some people change their oil every 3,000 miles but you would waste your money and harm the environment. Improvement have been made over the last 3 decades. The schedule is a compromise between making the total cost of ownership of the vehicle cheaper than the competition but also selling servicing parts however if there was a problem with SLLC then we would know about it as every Toyota has used it for the last 15 years.
  15. That shouldn't have been allowed under the current Lexus used warranty on offer. Was the renewal from Lexus or your dealer? An older product allowed cars up to 14 years old but the current one is only up to 12 years old.
  16. Up until now CarPlay hasn't been an option so most people would have gone with some form of in-built nav. I'd go with CarPlay, I don't believe any in-built system from any manufacturer can compete. If you don't like Apple Maps you can use Google Map or Waze etc using CarPlay.
  17. The V6 wasn't going to cut it with new emissions laws. Lexus couldn't compete by using that. It seems that the engine works for some and not others as people here have achieved averages of high 30s with an IS200t but others like you get low 20s.
  18. Welcome Greg, looks good 🙂 The front bumper on the sport is really the same as others, it is just the grille that is different (mesh). Your one is standard non-sport. Having said that the Sport was a UK grade put together by Lexus GB rather than the factory in Japan, not sure what was available in Europe through Lexus Europe. The UK Sport doesn't have side skirts. They look like that are from the Aero package body styling option, or aftermarket.
  19. No the generator is in the transmission. For a CT, you can tow it provided the front wheels are off the ground.
  20. After 100k miles the schedule is just repeated - there is nothing that is periodically changed, just as and when needed such as suspension mounts, ball joints etc that all should be inspected every major service (20k miles). Standard schedule is: Spark plugs every 60k miles Brake fluid every 2 years Engine coolant at 100k miles (and then every 60k miles?) Inverter coolant 100k miles Timing belt every 100k miles Air filter every 40k miles/4 years The main thing to do is verify if the timing belt was changed at 100k. They can last longer but 180k is pushing it and it will damage the engine if it fails. A Lexus dealer will normally put a sticker on the engine timing belt cover when it is changed.
  21. Just let the transmission do the downshifts, and you don't want to just be at 1,500 rpm - you said yourself that it seems better in Sport when the revs are higher. Economy isn't just about the rpm of the engine, throttle angle and engine load by being in a gear that will allow easy acceleration also help.
