  1. Get well soon Pete. It had me with a fever for 9 days and with 3 days in hospital but I feel very lucky compared to you.
  2. Service is every 12 month or 10k miles, whichever comes first. For the plugs it is 60k miles, not a duration so you can defer that part of the 60k service to whenever 60k miles comes up. @Thackeray the 100k miles service is expensive because the engine and hybrid inverter coolant is first changed at 100k miles, and then every 50k miles thereafter.
  3. Maybe a little more, but as you say the coolant isn't required so you should just ask for another 80k service, or an essentials full service. Once you are past 10 years old I'd say stamps in the book make a car easier to sell rather than being more valuable.
  4. Very nice 🙂 They didn't extend the warranty by the same duration though, so if I renew the warranty I'll get new recovery and therefore I'll never get to use that extra 3 months.
  5. Maybe Ctek aren't as good a people say if they don't warn about this. I have a Noco charger with a recond/repair mode - it states: Using 12V Repair. [From Standby Press and Hold 3 Seconds With Clamps Connected to the Battery] 12V Repair is an advanced battery recovery mode for repairing and storing, old, idle, damaged, stratified or sulfated batteries. Not all batteries can be recovered. Batteries tend to become damaged if kept at a low charge and/or never given the opportunity to receive a full charge. The most common battery problems are battery sulfation and stratification. Both battery sulfation and stratification will artificially raise the open circuit voltage of the battery, causing the battery to appear fully charged, while providing low capacity. Use 12V Repair in attempt to reverse these problems. For optimal results, take the 12-volt battery through a full charge cycle, bringing the battery to full charge, before using this mode. 12V Repair can take up to four (4) hours to complete the recovery process and will return to Standby when completed. CAUTION. USE THIS MODE WITH CARE. THIS MODE IS FOR 12-VOLT LEAD-ACID BATTERIES ONLY. THIS MODE USES A HIGH CHARGING VOLTAGE AND MAY CAUSE SOME WATER LOSS IN WET (FLOODED) CELL BATTERIES. BE ADVISED, SOME BATTERIES AND ELECTRONICS MAY BE SENSITIVE TO HIGH CHARGING VOLTAGES. TO MINIMIZE RISKS TO ELECTRONICS, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE USING THIS MODE. Given the bullet proof nature of Toyota electronics it may well cope with 16v being pulsed into it, but I'd say it isn't worth the risk - but you shouldn't be using the repair mode in normal circumstances anyway.
  6. yeah you don't want to purchase from Lexus. https://www.philips.co.uk/c-m-au/car-lights/car-selector-tool#/select-vehicle?brand=33&model=941&series=1182 This is possibly the correct one but please double check first: https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/philips-vision-d4s-xenon-bulb-4600k-single-boxed-mercury-free-48177223P
  7. Yes, to be a Thatcham approved cat 1 device, which all UK Lexus models have had installed since 1998, if not before, it has to have the following: Alarm with full perimetric and volumetric detection, battery backed-up siren. Immobiliser isolating a minimum of 2 operating system, passively armed. Anti-scan, anti-grab resistance of key codes.
  8. I'll just say that multiple coil packs don't all fail at once and you shouldn't blindly accept an error code as definite - it is a starting point for diagnosing the issue. This is the cylinder layout of your engine
  9. The IS300h engine has a timing chain, not a belt. There isn't a clutch. The mechanical brakes aren't used that much if you are gentle on the brakes and allow the electric regenerative braking to do most of the work.
  10. The two are separate. You have to actively arm the alarm by locking the doors with the remote/keyless entry system. The immobiliser is set automatically by the ignition being turned off and the key being removed from the interior. The immobiliser is built into the engine ECU. As has already been stated, not setting the alarm when you have one factory fitted, and the insurance group set based on that fact that it is there, is asking for trouble if the vehicle is stolen and it can be proven that the alarm wasn't armed. The alarm doesn't drain the battery that much to warrant not setting it.
  11. A flashing engine management light is normally because of a major issue (e.g. misfire), and not an issue with the ABS or VSC system (which would throw the VSC light on).
  12. In this situation the hybrid battery would be charged by the petrol engine and is never really used, so it would remain almost permanently charged - certainly wouldn't cause any damage. It isn't an ideal situation, you aren't really getting the benefits of a hybrid system, but not an issue. On the next generation of hybrid system (Prius IV, Lexus UX etc.) the petrol engine will cut out in less than 1 mile from starting (unless you want cabin heating) so the system is much more efficient on shorter journeys.
  13. take a look here - looks like the rear suspension body mounting cushion, stopper and bolt. https://7zap.com/en/catalog/cars/Lexus/brand/10/0/LEXUS LS/LEXUS LS430/Lexus/UHlqb2tYK2dJa2hreEdJSlE0T29Rbnh6d2V4TFJic3BuMGZFeEZjWkMxcFlBekFXN3Z1d3dQbmJ4WEIvemFIcDBMR3hnYjZlTTYyb1B4alZIT2RpK2c9PQ==/6bbffde8b5b8077d2d0a5796da6eea3c:6cfefdbaaee65ff9bc7aa9c34820c5db/manufacturer/3->5102/5102---510943f
  14. Yes. It's certainly not at the point where you need to consider changing it.
  15. You need the error code to know which cylinder has the problem - then you can look at the plug / coil pack (move from one cylinder to another to see if the fault moves with them). If the misfire is random cylinder error then it could be a fuel injector rather than ignition. You could try disconnecting the battery to reset the ECU and giving it a run - seems a coincidence that this happened at the same time as changing the battery.
  16. This is the reason. The final connection should be made to a ground point away from the battery so any spark produced won't ignite hydrogen gas produced by the battery.
  17. It's because the 12v aux battery isn't used for starting the engine, so to save weight and cost a small battery is used. That however gets discharged at a quicker rate than a larger one and therefore you can't leave it standing as long. If the battery is in good health then 3 weeks isn't a problem, 4 is pushing the limits.
  18. A fully charged AGM should have a terminal voltage of around 12.7 to 12.8 v. Left overnight you shouldn't really see it drop, 0.1 v lower at most.
  19. they tend to last longer in that they can tolerate a higher level of discharge without being damaged and losing capacity. The smallish capacity that Lexus fit to hybrid models means they get discharged quite heavily when left for 2+ weeks (e.g. going on holiday) and that smallish capacity gets even smaller on the flooded battery.
  20. have you used this code reader before on the RX? Is it capable of reading from Toyota/Lexus vehicles of that age?
  21. Global in this case just means I moderate across all the forums on this site. You would need to purchase the warranty in France, the UK one is underwritten by a UK company so wouldn't cover you in France, beyond the 90 day European travel allowance. Whether Lexus France would provide a warranty on a UK vehicle I don't know, you would have to contact them. The alternative would be to take out roadside assistance directly and find a 3rd party warranty provider in France. You could contact Lexus GB to see if they know if this is possible - you can't be the first person to do this.
  22. If using recond mode you should disconnect the battery from the vehicle - you risk damaging the vehicle electronics as the charger will pulse output a voltage higher than standard.
  23. Then it was well passed it's best and needed replacing.
  24. Standard interval in the UK is 10k miles. There is a higher one for higher mileage owners which is 12.5k miles. All Toyota/Lexus vehicles are 10k in Europe, less in the US. They don't do variable service internals + expensive oil like the German manufacturers, they maintain reliability over wanting to please fleet owners.
  25. and check the TPS sensor is set correctly. Personally I would have said no to the Bosch plugs and used the correct Denso ones but hopefully they will be okay. m_fi_0037.pdf
