  1. If they have to confirm to that element of MiFID II regulations then yes but I'm not sure if retail motor insurance falls within its reach or not.
  2. You can get some strange error codes if the 12v battery was low, which could be the case when a car is sitting on a forecourt. I assume the engine check light wasn't on so they are not current errors? I'd take out the warranty. The series III GS hybrid isn't the most reliable of Lexus vehicles - still very reliable but below normal Lexus standards.
  3. But they don't state how long they will be kept for. If it was in their interest it could be just a week.
  4. I did a speed awareness course a number of years ago and at the time there was only one insurance group that asked if you had been on a course and penalised you for it. You have to answer truthfully to any question you are asked - but most insurance companies don't ask. The instructor at the time made us aware of this and said just don't use that group of companies (Admiral group) - if anything they should give you a discount as your knowledge and awareness would be much better than someone who hadn't had a refresher since they passed their test.
  5. Refused insurance means a claim rejected, the company cancelled the policy mid-term or they refused to offer you a renewal on an existing policy. Not providing a quote for a new policy doesn't count - if it did we would all have a problem as there are always a couple of companies that don't provide a quote at the bottom of the price comparison websites 😉
  6. not sure what you are referring to but the Toyota eCVT is simple and virtually bullet proof.
  7. This is a hard electrical fault which the ECU cannot misinterpret - almost certainly the coil pack at fault. You could swap the coil packs to see if the fault moves to the new cylinder, or check the electrical connector for corrosion before getting a new coil pack. The pending errors are a result of the primary fault and nothing to worry about.
  8. Press and hold the recirculate button for 5 seconds, that should give you the sensitivity setting - I think you can adjust between 1 and 5.
  9. Most seem to be advertised at £400+ so seems a good price, especially if you can get it cheaper as the seller is open to offers.
  10. It should definitely work. 200h has used it on his IS to reset the very thing you are looking to do:
  11. The IS200 Sport model sold in the UK came with a torsen LSD. You can find these at breakers and on Ebay in the UK. Shipping is going to be expensive though. e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-LEXUS-IS200-SPORT-LSD-DIFF-DIFFERENTIAL-LIMITED-SLIP-FITS-ALL-IS200-99-05/143599312235?hash=item216f2f9d6b:g:AA0AAOSwdppea2DD
  12. Yes, if you click on the picture it will display a larger version where the number is clearly visible. My concern was they had just used a generic picture rather than the actual GS one. Once you have received then please can you confirm they are the correct ones.
  13. On the LS430 there is a sensitivity setting to alter when it kicks in, but there will always be an amount that enters before it switches to recirculate.
  14. The OEM and quality replacement filters have carbon within to reduce odours so you should ideally replace them periodically rather than just blow them out.
  15. The Lexus part code you don't want is 16620-31060. Googling that comes up with pictures showing the bearing which may help but not sure how reliable this is. e.g. https://www.ebay.com/itm/PULLEY-TENSIONER-KIT-Febest-0187-GWS191/254411910981?epid=214938063&hash=item3b3c21af45:g:wFAAAOSwsnVdwYsL
  16. Whatever is cheapest and can get stock to the factory at the time.
  17. You get a month of the paid features free when you purchase the official adapter and first use it.
  18. Welcome Mo. 1 - No, doesn't damage the vehicle. 2 - some things to look out for are listed here: 3 - Beyond normal servicing (which is minor / major / minor / major etc. every 10k miles/1 year), the things to check are spark plugs every 60k miles and timing belt every 100k miles).
  19. Performing preventative maintenance by replacing the radiator is done to prevent the internal transmission oil cooler from failing which results in water entering the transmission and causing damaged. Nothing to suggest the condenser suffers early failure, and as the AC system is isolated from anything else a failure would do nothing other than stopping the AC system from working - so not a catastrophic failure. You also need to be qualified to work with the AC system gases and can be prosecuted if you fail to stop gases leaking into the atmosphere so not a DIY job.
  20. It has all the hallmarks of a low voltage aux battery. What if you put the vehicle into Ready mode and then insert the USB key? If this isn't a battery issue then as the USB connector is directly connected to the AV system, which is on a separate bus to the vehicle's CAN bus, in theory it should not be possible to cause an issue on the hybrid system. Obviously there are devices that connect to multiple buses and act as gateways/firewalls and flaws in the system could allow unexpected things. Luckily the IS isn't directly Internet connected, this sort of flaw is gold to hackers and the potential start of an exploit.
  21. Rust on the underside affects the early models due to poor quality undersealing, I'm not aware of any change on later models so they will be at the point where corrosion sets in too. Check the boot well and rear light clusters for water ingress.
  22. They did have a Covid offer where a week pass was 1/10 of the normal price. Not sure if they is still on.
  23. Don't use anything other than Toyota T-IV.
  24. It will update the firmware if a newer one is available. Your GS may have been running the same version as on the map update.
