The ES? Smoother and quieter than the IS.

Had a leaky valve stem once just after getting a tyre fitted - took it back and they just pulled on the valve with some grips to make it fully seat - never had another problem with it.

The health check tests the cooling system, runs the fans at full speed to check operation but the exact efficiency isn't tested. It is important not to block the vents and each vent goes to an individual battery pack, not a common air channel, so blocking one have an effect. The fan will run fast, and eventually the system will stop hybrid operations to protect the battery. I'm sure it won't hurt to clean the fans but most dirt would get held at the front of the battery near the vent, or throughout the battery - ideally you would want to clean the whole system not just the fans. If the efficiency of the cooling system is down, you will hear the fans spinning faster and for longer. If you aren't experiencing that then you may not benefit from cleaning.

Brief Review of UX250h
ColinBarber replied to malcolmw's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
I guess it depends on what you want from a car. The UX is more modern, refined, quieter and more comfortable than a CT, and debatably a safer driving position (higher up). CT is a little more economical but really not much in it at all. -

A flush is where the new fluid is pushed through the transmission under pressure to get all the old fluid out. It is alleged that the high pressure could dislodge dirt and force it into the valve body, causing issues hence why some recommend against it - very few places in the UK would have a transmission flush device as the number of auto transmissions is low. The alternative is to let the transmission pump out the old fluid itself and add in new - this needs someone who knows what they are doing. A Lexus dealer would probably only drain and refill once. No real point in paying Lexus high labour charges for this when and good mechanical could do it. Maybe just get a pan drain once a year, that way it will keep on top of things.

Rx450h gen4 tow bar
ColinBarber replied to ron1953's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
cracking on its own isn't dangerous - that is why it isn't cause for an MOT failure, but it shows signs of old brittle rubber which is going to give a harsher ride and more noise than when new, and the cracking could get worth to the point where the carcass is visible which is a safety issue. I remember when a Lexus used vehicle had to have 5 or 6 mm thread depth to be sold - unfortunately that was 20 years ago and standard have slipped to maintain competitiveness. -
Lexus have them on their ebay store: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Lexus-ES-Rubber-Floor-Mats-Front-Rear-RHD-2018-0821033800C0-/264201025213?hash=item3d839bb6bd I'd contact Lexus Swindon - LexusPartsDirect, they will be cheaper. They only tend to put parts up on their website once someone has made an enquiry on that specific part.

sounds like the very definition of the word bodge. Why would you do that when the correct battery design is easily available. The batteries don't last long in the SC if you have a parasitic drain issue which is a common problem and often the stereo amp - no lead-acid battery will last long if it is been deep-cycled regularly.
-
The trick to getting the battery pack to last so long it to not over charge it and not let it discharge. Therefore the battery bars on the display represent about 25% to 75% and the hybrid system won't normally charge the battery above 60% so there is some headroom for regenerative braking electricity to be stored.

They are in the UK, being a limited edition and the Amarillo yellow only being available as an IS200 Sport with Aero kit (i.e. expensive). Apparently there was only one allocated per dealer so something like 55 sold. Not sure about sales in Ireland.
-
Nothing wrong with the genuine parts. If you want something cheaper then Blue Print are normally fine, they sometimes use the same OEM as Toyota. Brembo is a bit misleading, most people associated them with high quality, high performance parts but they make some standard, cheap parts too - so whilst they will be ok, they won't be any better.

Does the key turn a little way (which normally triggers the electrical locks) then you need to apply more pressure to physically move the mechanical locks? Not sure on that model if deadlocks can be opened by the outside key or not - varies with model and age. If you did deadlock the doors then that might explain the problem. If the mechanical key isn't working then really the only option is to get the bonnet open and charge up the battery so the electrical locks can be operated. Locksmith with an inflatable bag to bend out the top of the door enough to get something in to hook the bonnet release is probably the best way without breaking something. Otherwise you are smashing the side window or breaking the grille to pop the bonnet.

Are you sure they didn't disconnect the battery or reset the ECU when doing this - I cannot imagine why they would do this, unless they know the vehicle will drive differently after a reset. How was the fluid changed last time? If only the pan was drained then that would have only changed 1/3 of the total fluid within the transmission and so changing again after only 20k miles would make a difference.

Tyre pressure warning light.
ColinBarber replied to Hadrian's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
By doing that you are only going to get a warning if a pressure dropped to something like 22 psi. That is far from ideal. -
Disconnecting the 12v Battery for Extended Period
ColinBarber replied to Dean87's topic in Lexus CT 200h Club
Hi Dean There will be no issues for the vehicle. Whether your insurance company would like your vehicle left with no alarm is a different story.
