  1. It's really there to cut down on noise and to help protect the electrics from people who pressure wash their engine bay 😬
  2. The test is there to purely to extend the warranty on the hybrid battery for 12 months, so that is how often it is intended to be done. There is no predictive maintenance done. It was really designed to reassure owners/potential owners that the hybrid battery isn't something to worry about as scare stories in the press about new batteries costing thousands of pounds could have affected used car values. If you have a problem with your hybrid system you will know about it by warning lights - a hybrid health check isn't going to stop that happening. Also be aware that the warranty only covers the hybrid battery. Not the inverter, transmission, hybrid cooling system, electric motors etc.
  3. Ideally the voltage needs to be measured under a load to get a true understanding of its usefulness. 3.02v does seem low for a 'new' battery though.
  4. Did you check under the seats for any snakes? 🐍
  5. I'd like to know who makes these decisions. Seems to be some random person as it is different on every model. There are newer and older Lexus vehicles where you have the option to lock when you move into drive and/or when speed reaches a certain speed. If you have an option to unlock, it would make sense that there is a option to lock in the first place but your manual (for your year) will tell you.
  6. Closer to 5 litres rather than 6 as he put in 6 quarts and nearly all of the last quart overflowed. But that is for an AA80E transmission which is larger and hold more fluid than the A960E.
  7. ATF has an easier life that manual transmission oil but still degrades and internal filters don't entirely keep it clean. If you operate a vehicle under a severe service schedule (towing/high load or prolonged very high speeds) then the fluid should be changed every 6 years/60k miles according to the official Toyota/Lexus service schedule. I think it is worth changing even for vehicles not running on the severe schedule. The main problem is just dropping the pan and replacing that fluid only changes 1 litre - less than 1/7 of the total amount. If you measure the amount of fluid you remove and put back in the same amount you don't have to go through the fill/level procedure 🙂
  8. I assume it was the cat under the vehicle that was stolen? If so I'd run without. The two main cats are in the engine bay which when fully up to temperature will mean your engine would pass emissions, however hybrids aren't even tested for emissions during an MOT. If you do decide to get a replacement, worth getting a price for a genuine product. Toyota GB are meant to be selling cats at cost for owners who have had them stolen.
  9. £83 from lexuspartsdirect.co.uk but you also need gasket and o-ring.
  10. The ISF received suspension changes in MY11, MY12 and MY13.
  11. If you have the phone attached via USB to the vehicle then the infotainment system is detecting an iPhone/iPod is connected and playing your local music on the phone - and it always starts on the same song. Just pause the music/change the play list etc. if needed, or change the media device to radio etc. If you want the Apple Maps voice/sounds to come from the vehicle then you have to have the input source to iPhone, or bluetooth.
  12. Looks ok from what is difficult to tell just from photos. It seems to have had quite a lot of rework in the past, I wonder if chasing the same fault or something different. I think the fact that you can make the fault occur by touching the wiring is probably the best place to continue the diagnosis. I'd remove a section of the black wiring shroud back to where you were moving the wiring so you can move each individual wire to identify which one has a problem. It could well be a break in a wire if the harness has been moved a lot in the past, or it could lead to a problem at the connector/pin - especially if the wiring is a little tight when fully assembled and there has been any strain.
  13. A CT is more economical that a GS! I would see over 500+ miles on my old IS300h when filling up. The calculation is mainly based on your economy over the last calculation period, which is a period of time/distance much smaller period than the full tank. Therefore if you have averaged 60+ mpg over the last 50 miles say, the full tank average would be well into the 500s.
  14. You should put back in the same amount that was taken out. Most will stay in the system so adding the full system amount back in will mean you are over.
  15. The CT has a WLTP figure of 53 to 55 mpg so you aren't doing bad.
  16. Toyota/Lexus parts direct are going to be around the cheapest for a genuine item in the UK at £2.98 each.
  17. you will find the accessory user guides and install guides here: https://www.lexus-tech.eu/Menu/Owner
  18. can you remove the unit, push the bolt through the hole so the head is against the body then offer it up and initially tighten up by hand, or with a socket already on the bolt?
  19. Tell them they need to change it to 2 minor and 1 major. However I would potentially go to another dealer, the charge is over just paying for the services ad-hoc - normally you don't get a discount but never heard of a dealer trying to charge more. All services come with a hybrid health check, they wouldn't necessarily mention it.
