The rules relaxed around 18 months ago to allow anyone (rather than just gold members) to sell their vehicle. But it needs to be done on the Lexus cars for sale forum and using the specified template. There is also a wanted forum too but normally wanted posted within the individual model forums are allowed. No idea why the thread above was removed.

You often see part code changes on various parts throughout the life of a vehicle. Some are design changes to improve performance or make assembly easier, others to save costs, or even to change supplier. It is unlikely that the change in 2011 is to stop this particular issue occurring as even the earliest models wouldn't have been old enough to have suffered the issue for it to be known about (corrosion or joint failure via long term vibration/heat cycling stress are really the only reasons for these sort of failures).

DAB came with the ML Multimedia upgrade on 2010 models (factory built August 2009 onwards).

just an excuse to bump up the list price of cars and advertised as 'progress'. IMO the advantages don't outweigh the disadvantages. Advantages eliminate blind spot reduce drag an amount of customisation Disadvantages loss of depth perception as you are just looking at a 2D image - difficult to judge distance and speed focus distance is near, therefore eyes need time to focus from looking out windscreen to the image displayed on the screen camera and LCD screen refresh rate lower than human eye - reaction times increased screen can be washed out by direct sunlight cost of initial purchase cost of repair - higher insurance premiums the first three reasons are why mirrors are used on multi-million pound fighter jets and not cameras/screens.

It is a common one that dealers use. Obviously Toyota/Lexus recommend Toyota 0-20W for the CT, which I believe is produced by Mobil but to Toyota's specifications.

Hi John Autotrader is the best place - most private sellers and dealers will advertise there. eBay is another option but IMO not as good. There aren't many GS vehicles for sale as they didn't sell many in the first place, especially the petrol only versions. Most will be for sale at dealers as selling privately is difficult, it can take some time to find a buyer as it isn't a popular vehicle. You are unlikely to get more than £1,000 off the price of a vehicle priced at £10,000 unless you find things wrong with it which gives you some leverage. It can be nice to find an honest private seller but you have legal rights if you purchase from a business so I'd recommend the latter. RCF - 2 year service
ColinBarber replied to doog442's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
It's a shared workshop facility - the vehicle doesn't go next door to be worked on cheaply and not all the mechanics are Lexus vehicle trained. But the service cost is based on the brand of coffee, the quality of the wood in the showroom and the perceived disposable income of the Lexus owner - not the workshop facilities or a team of only master mechanics. Finding a Toyota dealer that will do the work is the problem. Toyota GB don't allow it, can strip them of the franchise if found out and technically their Techstream license shouldn't give them access to all the Lexus diagnostics, TSB info, firmware files etc. The dealers that have both T and L franchises (e.g. Inchcape Guildford) would always insist on you going into the building with the L badge on it. -
Fault Code Reading

You cannot get engine codes. Only infotainment and possible climate control. -

Lexus use a radar interior motion detector so shouldn't be susceptible to that type of interference.

did you just get pads or discs too? This can certainly happen with OEM brakes as well as third party ones. You need to bed your new brakes in which will help - light braking for 100 miles then increase braking load and then do five 50-10 mph heavy stops one after the other. Groaning is often a problem with auto transmissions as you are fighting against the constant forward motion - not an issue with a manual transmission.

Lexus UK dropping models this September
ColinBarber replied to Habu's topic in Lexus General Discussions
I don't disagree there should be more engine choice, but you don't get any additional choice with the IS in the model range, it would still be a 2.5l 4 cylinder hybrid. -
Advice please - to buy or wait
ColinBarber replied to corpjones's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Most dealers will give you a trade in price but allow you to sell privately before handover. Agree to purchase the vehicle, arrange a date in a few days time to collect the new car and in the meantime advertise on Autotrader slightly average private sale prices but above your trade in price. If a car is priced well you normally get calls within hours of a vehicle going up on the website. -
It is normally contamination, covering up the catalyst material to stop it working. Oil from a worn engine, coolant from a minor head gasket leak etc. Unburnt fuel from the engine igniting in the cat and overheating/melting the honeycomb structured catalyst will also reduce efficiency due to a reduction in surface area.

As above, difficult to put a distance on the timing chain - there isn't a scheduled interval that Toyota provides. In theory the chain in a hybrid should last longer as the engine isn't always on compared to a conventional vehicle. I guess the correct answer is when the tensioner has fully extended so it can no longer take up any slack - no idea how easy it is to inspect the tensioner on that particular engine. Shocks - manufacturers state around 50k miles but in reality should be okay to 100k before there would be a noticeable difference between those worn shocks and new ones - most people never change then until they get an MOT failure. Springs normally last longer, they don't have seals that wear out for example - you would probably never replace unless one is heavily corroded, snaps, or a corner of the vehicle has sagged. I don't think the UK CTs were ever described has having VDIM - it was a term/system that had stopped being used by the time the CT was launched - they all have the same stability and traction control across all grades.
