GSF or gs450h?
ColinBarber replied to jason61c's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
It may be the light but the colour of the wheels doesn't look right - a bit too grey and flat. -
I would like to think a dealer is charging for the labour time used, not how long the install procedure takes - they don't have to sit there and watch it non-stop for 1.5 hours, they should be doing other things and periodically checking.

I guess it must be that but it is normally quite loud and is very obvious on the HUDs on my GS and wife's Prius - maybe without a HUD it isn't so easy to see. Drive at a parked car and swerve out the way at the last second (with nothing else around), that will trigger it 😉 My wife's car is quite sensitive when I turn right into a side road if I start moving as the car I'm waiting to pass is level or just passed - it triggers the Rear crossing Traffic Alert which beeps and displays a small warning symbol on the dash - but your description doesn't sound like that scenario, and your UX would need the RCTA feature.

Yes the RX350 is rare in the UK due to most people opting for the 400h. As an example, in 2008 there were 3,023 400h sold and 177 RX350s. I'm not sure where you have seen lots of people having hybrid system issues with the RX on these forums but it is extremely rare - I can only thing of a couple of batteries failures reported in the last 10 years. The GS450h on the other hand does suffer some reliability issues with the batteries. If you have a problem then you can find companies that will fix the issue, you can get a used battery from a scrap yard or purchase a third part battery (around £2k) - if someone is silly enough to go to Lexus for a battery issue on a 10 year old car then yes it could cost them £4k, the same as if you had a transmission issue with a RX350 and went to a Lexus dealer. For vehicles up to 15 years old you can have a Lexus dealer perform a hybrid health check for £59 which will give you a 12 month/10k mile warranty on the hybrid battery (not the rest of the hybrid system). WRT the parking sensors, the RX series II didn't have factory integrated parking sensors - any that are fitted are either a Lexus branded aftermarket system fitted in the UK by the dealer or independent sensors added by the owner. Vehicles with Sat Nav will have the reversing camera. The last run 2009 400h limited edition didn't have parking sensors factory fitted so what you saw was a UK dealer option. Given the high driving position and quite short bonnet I never really found an issue with the front of my 400h but you could always get a DIY system fitted.

don't think this really helps but here is a diagram: https://7zap.com/en/catalog/cars/Lexus/brand/10/0/LEXUS GS/LEXUS GS450H/Lexus/S0hqMGtZMGpIUHJRUjZuRjVZZlp5YUhJSnIvcEdzNDFDODlIcFlZZDBQemt3UUhGM2FmMTZRV0VrWlRiYkZwTnZKMGZVZW42RzdQQ3RQOWxvZ3VFNzgvVU0ray93dkM5eUs3Zm92NFFiTWs9/6bbffde8b5b8077d2d0a5796da6eea3c:37bd1ae6330ef7add80381c0253193c9/manufacturer/2->4102/4102---412121d

GSF or gs450h?
ColinBarber replied to jason61c's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
yep, same for me. -
If you select one of the courier options, all the taxes and duties are paid up front so no delays or hidden charges (it should be clear which ones include all the charges or not). If you select US postal then once Royal Mail get involved they will collect the taxes and charge you an admin fee for the privilege.

You need valid insurance to drive a vehicle on the road in the UK. You won't get valid UK insurance unless it is registered in the UK so the only option would be to use your existing Polish insurance and I would imagine they stipulate a maximum period of insurance out of the country - maybe 28 days for example.

If you can get the European Certificate of Conformity then you don't need to put the vehicle through an IVA (although I didn't think the ES was available in Europe in 2005), then you just need to get the certificate of Mutual Recognition which is £100 - details are within the link Steve provided to the government's website. Insurance will be the biggest issue - the number of insurers that will take on an import is limited, and premiums will be more because it is LHD and therefore a higher risk (but yes you can legally drive a LHD vehicle in the UK). Servicing shouldn't be a problem, just find an independent Toyota/Lexus mechanic - service parts will be available as it isn't really different from the RX300/RX400h engine. Anything ES specific you are best to import from the US. I'm not aware of any ultra-low emissions zones around the Worcester area that would restrict/charge you for driving a 3.3l engined vehicle - not sure if it is still only London that has such as restriction. Some info here: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/content/advice/ulez-lez-caz-low-emission-zones-explained

Welcome Ian and congrats on the new vehicle.

You won't get the certificate of Mutual Recognition if you don't have BOTH MPH and KPH capability.

Turning Off Interior Alarm Sensor
ColinBarber replied to Beez's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Just lock the vehicle with the mechanical key, the alarm won't be set. Otherwise you can turn off the interior sensor using the satellite switch menu when you turn off the vehicle. -
12v battery charger with power pack recommendations?
ColinBarber replied to bfgqueen's topic in Lexus CT 200h Club
Yes, no different. If you are storing for 4+ months then I'd recommend switching the vehicle on into 'Ready' every 3 or 4 months for 30 mins so the hybrid battery can get a charge from the engine if needed. -
4th Yr service RX200T
ColinBarber replied to HBZ3's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Your service booklet should give you an indication of what is being performed at each service. There is something specific to the 200t vehicles that makes the 40k mile service expensive - maybe plugs. Lexus are transparent on their website for servicing costs - unfortunately all dealers are asked to stick to the published pricing so you won't normally get different pricing by ringing around - and Lexus servicing is expensive, more so than most other manufactures and they don't offer good value for money servicing plans which purchasing a new vehicle like Audi, Jag, BMW etc. etc. 😞 -
Buying a used GSF available now

Agreed, they won't be selling many of those items. -

Alarm keeps going off
ColinBarber replied to JeffL's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Or a failing 12v battery as the alarm could detect this as the battery is being disconnected as an attempt to disable the alarm. -
thoughts on high mileage
ColinBarber replied to Jay2k's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Yes and no 😉 At launch the Premium Nav was standard with the Premier grade and optional on the F Sport. The lower grades didn't have this as an option, just whether to have standard nav or not. When the Premium Pack came in as an option (late 2017) which included Premium Nav, again it was just offered on the F Sport and already standard on the Premier. With the current grading system, which came out in 2019 for the NX (NX, F Sport, Takumi), the Premium Pack is standard on the F Sport and Takumi and also an option on the base grade -

ColinBarber replied to Jay2k's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
The NX has always had a trackpad on the premium navigation system, as apposed to the inverted mouse found on some other models. The rotary controller is found on the non-premium nav models. -
GSF or gs450h?
ColinBarber replied to jason61c's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Yes it will do 30 mpg at 70 to 80 mph. What is your budget?
