  1. Try resetting it to clear the error and see if it comes back again. I suspect it will unfortunately. The error suggests it is trying to move the shutters but it doesn't detect they open or close within the time expected. It isn't a wiring issue to the actuator as that would give a different code. It could still be something external to the actuator stopping it open/close properly. You probably won't be able to tell unless you remove it all from the vehicle. Yes you should get 30 days free access. Looks like you have to select the 12-month option and cancel it before your trial expires so you don't get charged.

  3. That's easy - they aren't. No GS Fs sold in the UK had diamond cut alloys - it wasn't an option. Diamond cut is easy to identify - it is shiny non-painted machined surface.   5. 30 mins will give you enough charge for it to be okay tomorrow but it wouldn't have charged it fully - that would take something around 3+ hours to achieve. The best thing is to charge the battery fully using a charger. Then aim to charge it for at least an hour every week (either via a charger or just using the vehicle) to put back in what is lost whilst the vehicle is sitting there unused. For the vehicle to charge the battery, you don't actually have to drive it. You can leave it in Park, in 'Ready' mode and let the hybrid system charge the battery. The petrol engine will turn itself on and off during that time but the 12v battery is always being charged.
  6. It is probably a bit of work to do this. The 'easiest' way would be to intercept the video feed coming from the Nav computer in the boot, that way you don't have to run wires all the way to the headunit/screen. That signal is an RGB+sync, I think at 60 Hz. Several people have replaced the whole nav and audio system with an Android based computer, many of which have reversing camera inputs.
  7. I believe bluetooth is only available on the RX300 from 2005 (when the 400h launched) if you have the sat nav option. As Herbie states, it is only for telephony, not music streaming.
  8. Manufacturers test to government standards - if people have an issue with those tests not being related to the real world then complaints should be made towards government. Obviously some manufacturers (VW) go to an extreme to make their figures better. Monitoring fuel consumption is a good way to early identify issues with your vehicle.

  10. Correct. If your battery is in good health then you vehicle will easily survive 3 weeks unattended. However those 3 weeks are allowing the battery to suffer slightly and so the next time you might only get to 2 weeks and 6 days. Keep repeating that spiralling decline until it cannot hold a charge over the weekend. There is hardly any load on the battery and hence Toyota only fit one that is quite small to save money and weight. Fine for the day to day but no so good when being left for weeks at a time where the power draw is the same as any other vehicle - so it won't last as long. The situation we are in at the moment is a problem for all vehicles, not just hybrids. Vehicles aren't being used as much and often the amount of charge being put into the battery in a week (be that from an alternator or a hybrid charging system) doesn't actually compensate for the power lost through keeping the alarm/central locking etc. operating and the natural discharge of the battery and so after a month or two people are unable to start their vehicles - and the batteries, being left in a semi-discharged state, start to lose their ability to hold a charge. The winners of this are the battery manufactures who have never sold so many replacements.

  12. Did you managed to wrap the lead around the core multiple times? The more the better. Get some aluminium foil and completely cover the unit in it. If the radio is then ok it suggests that the device is emitting interference that is only going to be resolved by relocating it, or using a different dash cam.
  13. Either you are keeping the key within range of the vehicle (or maybe another one with a similar system) or there is a fault. That is not normal.

  16. There are two warranties that Lexus offer: First is the Lexus extended warranty, which is similar to the initial 3 year warranty you get from new, and covers virtually everything. This can be taken out until a vehicle is 10 years old. On the RX that is a two year warranty and so you could be covered until nearly 12 years old if timed correctly. The other warranty via the hybrid health check is just for the hybrid battery, which can be taken out until the vehicle is 15 years old as I explained above. After 15 years Lexus don't offer a warranty option. There are third party ones but they typically have limitations and maximum claim amounts which probably make them virtually worthless to cover a hybrid battery. The options therefore are to pay for a repair or replacement if the battery has an issue. There are some third party repairers that specialise in hybrid batteries so you don't have to go to Lexus (e.g. https://www.hybridbatterysolutions.co.uk), or you obtain a used battery from an RX450h that has been written off. The RX400h launched in 2005. I've only heard of a handful of problems with the batteries on them - and most a result of water damage rather than a failure on the battery pack itself. They are very reliable, but obviously someone has to be the unlucky person to experience a problem. The RX450h has a different design, I'm yet to heard of a problem with one of those battery packs but having launched in 2009 they are younger so we don't know about their 15 to 20 year reliability. Based on all the evidence from Toyota/Lexus hybrids you will be unlucky to have a problem before 200,000 miles. A repair is likely to cost around £1,000 and a third party replacement £2,000. From Lexus it would be £3,000+. A used one from salvage, probably £1,000+ once you have paid for fitting and you obviously don't know how long that would last.
  17. I believe the part code for the cable is 69710-53010. It is unique to the IS. I'd hope Lexus dealers can still get the part. Very likely to be the cable but worth making sure it isn't the handle or lock that hasn't failed before ordering.

  19. The advise is good to stop potential theft of your vehicle. It does nothing to help the 12v aux battery, the vehicle will still send out pulses to try and find keys - it doesn't know whether they are there or not. If you wanted to save power you have to turn off the system through the vehicle's menus.
  20. My understanding is that the vehicle has to be less than 15 years old when it is tested and issued with a 10k miles/12 month warranty. So in theory you could get it tested the day before it was registered, 14 years and 364 days ago, and get 12 months cover. After the warranty expires, any required repair on the hybrid battery would be at the owners expense, and you would be very much advised that you don't go to a Lexus dealer for that due to the costs involved.
  21. No, none of those do. The easiest way to tell is to look at the outside part of the light, the LED ones have two circular lenses whereas the Halogens ones just have a single larger one. Also HID and LED headlights must have washers which are clearly missing from the example on the right.
  22. LED front headlights were standard on the premier. They were not available on any other grade, even as an option, including F-Sport. 2014-2017. All grades have LED DRL lights, and LED rear lights. Only in 2018 when Bi-LED headlights were introduced were they available as an option on the F-Sport, with the Premier Pack.
