Apologies, I didn't mean offence. It was a genuine question given that members had taken the time and effort to provide all the information required to understand if a vehicle can use E10 or not. Having received poor information from dealers and head office on a number of occasions, they certain aren't my source of finding a definitive answer.

Unfortunately it isn't a cover - the fusible link is a complete unit with the fuse wire built in. As they are used for high current protection, the spade connectors aren't enough on their own and therefore they are sometimes bolted too. From what I can find on that specific unit, the 60+ Amp elements have holes in them which I assume are for bolts. Therefore you probably have to unbolt the fusebox itself so you can turn it over and unbolt the connections to the fusible link module before it will pull out. It is probably easier just to check the voltage is getting to the input of the motor/ecu rather than at the fuse itself.

isn't it more luxurious to effortlessly squeeze the throttle and accelerate at a moderate rpm to overtime something, rather than have to drop down 4 cogs and rev the NA engine to the redline? 😉 -
Highest Mileage in the UK

It's good, but the IS300h only launched in 2013 so less time to get there. Jason has 180k on his IS300h. Recently put in a new hybrid battery. Hopefully he was unlucky and this isn't the norm. Several GS450h batteries have had problems way lower than that mileage. All other hybrids are more reliable than the series III GS450h so hopefully that IS300h follows them and not the GS. -
The initial release series IV GS, in UK Spec, doesn't provide the ability for auto locking when driving off or moving out of Park. Seems some 'intelligent' person took a decision that a person cannot make a personal decision of what is of greater risk to them - to protect against unauthorised opening of the door or making it easier for emergency services to open a door. It is a weird decision given that most, if not all, the other Lexus models at that time permitted this. Only with the facelift models, 2015 onwards, was this feature added back to the GS.

You misunderstood me. The 8 speaker system improvement is because it has a Pioneer head unit, not the Fujitsu-Ten unit the 6 speaker system has. It also has the external amp. The Pioneer headunit only has line out as the external amp drives all the speakers.

The same. The only change between the 8 and 10 speaker system is the two front dashboard speakers become dual cone and therefore each one counts as two. The front and rear door speakers remain the same. Given that the only speaker difference between the 6 and 8 systems is the addition of the centre dashboard speaker and the rear sub, I think it is the pioneer headunit and all the speakers being being driven by an external amp that contribute more to the improved sound quality. An active sub is probably the best place to start - just not sure how easy it will be to get a feed to it as the 6 speaker headunit doesn't have a sub out, and I'm not sure it has a line out either.

What are you expecting them to say that isn't already documented? The Government's database available on web obtains its information from the manufacturers. All Lexus models are compatible with E10 fuel that were manufactured from Jan 1998 with three exceptions. IS250 2.5 litre V6 with engine 4GR-FSE made between August 2005 and September 2007. GS300 3.0 litre V6 with engine 3GR-FSE made between January 2005 and September 2007. LS460 4.6 litre V8 with engine 1UR-FSE made between August 2006 and September 2007. If you know your vehicle was manufactured October 2007 onwards then you can use E10 fuel. If before then you must not use E10 and stick with E5, either 95 RON whilst it remains available in your area or 98/99 RON. Flat Battery

Paul, this is going to be a difficult thing for you to judge based on people's responses. You don't know the state of charge of their battery before it was left. Given the current situation people just aren't using their vehicles enough to ever fully charge the battery - and therefore sit in various degrees of discharge, which gets worse over a number of weeks - then if it is left a bit longer than normal the battery may be too flat to unlock the vehicle. In the normal situation where people are using their vehicles on an almost daily basis, no one had problems leaving their vehicle for two week when flying away somewhere on holiday. At present, if most people left their vehicles for two weeks they would experience a flat battery. -
You should be getting 50+ mpg in which ever mode you use at that speed. If you aren't accelerating the mode makes little to no difference.

So there is definitely something wrong. I would expect to see the 14 v to be maintained when the engine is revved and when the lights turned on you may get a drop to 13.4 v for a fraction of a second but it should go straight back up to 14 v. There is two possibilities. Either the cabling from the alternator to the battery, or earth connections to battery body and engine, has resistance in it due to a corroded or dirty connection or the alternator isn't performing as it should. Not sure how easy it is to do but ideally you want to measure the voltage directly off the alternator and -ve terminal of the battery when the engine is running and lights/rear demister is on - if you see 14 v then the fault is with the cabling, if it drops to 13.4 v then the alternator cannot supply enough power (I assume due to a fault rather than it being the incorrect one for the vehicle).

True but it isn't a fair comparison. To convert the 4GR-FSE into something suitable for a hybrid vehicle (a 4GE-FXE if you will) it would be detuned to around 180 hp, as it is done with the 2GR-FSE and 2GR-FXE, so the difference is very small. It's moot really though. Both the GR and AR engine designs are now old and out of development. The A25A series take over as the 2.5l engines now being developed with similar power levels, 210 bhp for NA and 180 bhp for hybrid. -

The smaller hybrids are about economy and emissions. Why you would use an engine that is inherently heavier and less economical, and doesn't actual produce any more power. -
This is not true. The front and rear door speakers are the same on the 6 and 8* speaker systems - part codes are the same. Fronts are 18 cm, 4 ohm, 20 W. Rears are 16 cm, 4 ohm, 20 W. Only the ML systems have different speakers. *8 speaker system on vehicles 2013 to 2016. This changed to a 10 speaker system for MY2017 onwards.

Is this the system with black screens embedded in the rear headrests and the DVD player under the drivers seat, or the newer silver units which are fixed behind the headrests and have the DVD drive within the screen unit? Either way, worth folding the rear seats, slide them back and forth etc. to make sure it hasn't just fallen down a gap. Not sure you can still get the remotes from Lexus. Easiest way may be to purchase a universal learning remote and find another owner with a remote to program it from. -

It is deceptive because of the angular styling. Actually the current NX is 4cm longer than the Rav4, although the Rav is 3cm longer in wheelbase and 1cm wider. I'd expect the next NX to have the Rav's larger wheelbase but the front and rear overhangs will no doubt be different. The trend is certainly to make vehicles larger (each RX has become larger than the previous). -
It doesn't. There is a resonance issue on the IS300h when the engine is running at around 1,300 rpm. I was able to produce it in my 300h, but I only ever got it at around 50 mph under slight engine load (going up a slight incline where I had to just press the throttle a tiny bit more to maintain speed). Any change in speed or throttle would stop it so I never bothered to get the 'fix' installed - which doesn't completely cure it anyway. Not sure what Lexus would charge to install it on a vehicle out of warranty - there was a TSB but only for owners that noticed and complained of the issue would get it fixed under warranty. I imagine a redesign of some components fixed this on later models, I've not heard of anyone complain of this on a 2016+ vehicle. Most people that have complained of this where in Europe, not sure if road surfaces or being left hand drive made the issue more apparent.

The new one will be built on a completely different platform with a complete new drivetrain. The only thing that it has with the old model are body panels that are shaped the same.
