  1. Something that isn't obvious to all - the hybrid health check only provides a warranty to the hybrid battery. If you have a fault with any other part of the hybrid system (CVT, electric motors, inverter) you aren't covered, all would result in repair bills £1k or above. Extremely rare of any fault to occur with these components but you need an extended warranty to cover you for the entire hybrid system.
  2. Areas where the public have access but that isn't technically a public road still have road laws applied. The main example here is a supermarket road system/car park which is private property. Your own private property that isn't secured but where the public shouldn't be I'd say is a grey area and would probably need a court to decide if the police wanted to press charges, but I'd make the argument that SORN is allowed on a driveway without it being secured, no tax or insurance is then needed, so road laws shouldn't apply either.
  3. WHAT YOU ARE COVERED FOR Engine components Clutch Gearbox and manual transmission Automatic transmission Four wheel drive transmission Cooling system Casings Fuel system Diesel injection systems Electronic ignition Electrics Oil leaks Air conditioning Rear axle Propshaft Suspension Braking system Turbocharger Steering
  4. You can take out a warranty until the vehicle is 10 years old. Exclusions are: Serviceable items Drive belt adjustment Brake and clutch adjustments due to wear Glass replacements due to breakages or impact Corrosion to the exhaust Lights, bulbs and headlight adjustments Window and door lock adjustments Paintwork and bodywork Battery (HV battery on Hybrids is covered) Interior trim Road wheels https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/warranty/extended-warranty/#hero The above warranty is operated by Toyota GB - you would need to check with Toyota/Lexus in your country for their T&Cs.
  5. The infotainment system is very different to the US. We have no concierge service or remote connectivity (no in-built Internet connectivity).
  6. This is not the case. The hybrid model has 60 Kg more weight up front due to the inventor and cooling system, motors etc. and 80 Kg more at the rear due to the battery pack over an AWD 350. The springs/shocks have different part codes.
  7. Boot is smaller on the 300h/450h but still bigger than your IS250. Nothing wrong with the GS250 but just be aware that they didn't sell many so are difficult to find. Depreciation is high (good if you are being used and will keep for a long time). Fuel consumption is high. Road tax is high.
  8. I think the 'correct' pressure is 2.4 for normal under 100 mph running. Personally I normally run just a tiny bit over the standard pressure, so 2.5. 3.1 seems way too high and you are likely to prematurely wear the middle part of your tyres. Front and rear pressures are the same on the ES300h.
  9. I don't see the point in spending above the vehicle's market value on a repair. Yes the vehicle could go another 100k miles without an issue, but it could equally be written off the next day, through no fault of your own, and you receive somewhere from £2000 to £2400 as settlement from your insurance. Obviously spending £300 every 5 years to avoid a £3k transmission bill is the sensible option, although a transmission failure can occur for various reasons, not just due to the fluid condition.
  10. You don't say what age of GS you are thinking of. Seats are a little bigger than IS which may be all you need. If you get a top of the range GS then the drivers seat should have cushion length adjustment.
  11. Only vehicles with memory functions have mirror ECUs located within the doors which store the position of each mirror. The door ECUs are the same both sides. There are part code changes throughout the life of the vehicle which may explain the colour differences or just what colour plastic Denso were using using on that manufacturing run. The mirrors themselves are different too. The memory ones have position sensors in them and two sets of wires - one with just two connections which is for folding and goes directly to the folding switch and the other, which controls mirror movement, goes to the ECU. Mirrors without memory have a single cable which directly connects to the mirror controls. Your vehicle has had its O/S mirror replaced at some point with an incorrect, cheaper, non-memory one.
  12. The quick customer video is there just to show some of their findings and follows a standard format - it isn't a recording of their entire inspection. The visual inspection sheet that the techs need to fill out have three measurements for each tyre of example but it would become a tedious video if we had to watch all three reading to be taken.
  13. Absolutely fine if you have written permission from Toyota (TMC) to freely distribute their copyrighted material.
  14. That's a little disappointing, I thought Lexus GB stopped adding parts at point of entry years ago - you pay twice, once for the wheels that come from the factory and then again for the replacements. Hopefully Lexus GB subsidise the new wheels somewhat as they will use the standard wheels for warranty replacements.
  15. What are you spraying on it? Did you start to do this after you had the problem or before?
  16. The problem is that Toyota don't manufacturer wheels and therefore don't have a colour code they publish for them - the colour code is known only by OEM. You would need to take it to a refurb shop that can correctly colour match.
  17. The ML 13 speaker system was exclusive to the Premier during that period. The F Sport has the standard 6 speaker system as standard, with the option to upgrade to Sat Navigation + 10 speaker audio system.
  18. I believe the part code is 48510-80359. https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/parts/lexus-is/lexus-is-phase-ii-2006-2013/lexus-is-2-steering-suspension/lexus-is-phase-2-diesel-o-s-f-shock-absorber/ You need to be careful with online databases - suspension parts are country/region specific. The left and right shocks are different.
  19. Three main things to look for on a 400h above and beyond the normal things to look for on a used vehicle: Water in the boot area or inside the rear light clusters - water can enter via the rear lights or via body seams around the tailgate that were glued together opening up. Carefully check the boot of the boot. Corrosion on the underside of the vehicle as the rust proofing wasn't a good as it should have been. Rear disc rotors corroded - indicates seized callipers which is common on a hybrid as the mechanical brakes don't get used as often as a conventional vehicle.
  20. Doesn't the Vline cabling pass the video from the infotainment system through Vline unit and on to the screen? Therefore just disconnecting the unit without connecting the infotainment system and screen back directly together again will result in no video being displayed.
  21. No, it has a warning light which will flash when coolant temperature is too high and will change to being permanently on when critical.
