  1. All vehicles with the MM option have DVD. · Multimedia package (option) – Mark Levinson 14 speaker system with 5.1 channel digital surround sound, 7” LCD screen, DVD based satellite navigation, six disc DVD autochanger including DVD video playback, Bluetooth connectivity, voice control, and Park Assist reversing camera.
  2. Multiple people have suffered the pump issue. Easily fixed for a few £££ if you have the knowledge/experience/tools to DIY or wouldn't be that expensive to get a mechanic to do it for you once you should him this thread: It's a great example of what you can do yourself for a £10 compared to £3,000+ if you asked a Lexus dealer to fix it for you.
  3. and the variable ratio steering - that uses an electric motor which has been ultra reliable to this point, but is clearly a more complex and expensive system to fix if a problem does arise compared to a conventional system. Buying a 15 years old complex car needs to be done on the understanding that if things go wrong it could be expensive and parts difficult to get hold of outside the ultra expensive main dealer network. If you are mechanically minded or have a good mechanic you can rely on then you can greatly reduce the financial risk. Personally I'd have the 450h over the 300 any day of the week but it isn't the right choice for everyone.
  4. The fact that multiple people on these forums have had issues. Granted it isn't a high number, but it is a number that is higher than all other Lexus hybrids combined, and it sold the least. Plus the issue with the gearbox fluid pump bearings.
  5. The early GS450h vehicles have a significantly smaller boot compared to the GS300, something to be aware of if that is important to you.
  6. Try manually setting the air direction to face, fan on max, close off all the front vents (centre and both sides) and open the rear two vents - you should get something, if not then something is blocking the rear vent or it has been disconnected somehow.
  7. I believe it is only the Series IV RX where the F-Sport gains Active Sound Control (ASC) - artificial petrol engine noise through cabin speakers. It can always be turned off if the owner wishes.
  8. Most of that looks like dirt rather than corrosion. Worth giving it a good clean first so you can really see what you are dealing with, then you should be able to use a rust treatment to stabilise and prevent any more corrosion.
  9. The hybrid UXs with 18" wheels have run flats, the 17" ones are normal with tyre repair kit. I don't really understand the logic here, do owners of the more expensive models appreciate more under tray storage space? I guess it is just a cost thing, there is more profit in the grades/packs that include 18" wheels even with more expensive run flats. Given the UXe has a larger boot compared to the UX maybe the space taken up by the repair kit is a non-issue.
  10. I had a Supra MKIV TT. It was equivalent in build quality to the Lexus GS300 at the time, and actually more expensive. The two shared many components. When I sold it I test drove a couple of series I GS300s and was disappointed that they weren't any more refined, and actually had more rattles and creaks than the Supra. I ended up with a GS series II which was more refined but a bit soulless.
  11. It's to do with the air intake valve. Have you done anything with intake system?
  12. It is weird though, Michelin has been known for decades as being more expensive but lasting longer than most. However just taking about a manufacturer as a whole isn't a good way to make a decision - it is like saying all LG TVs are great and all Sony ones are poor. They make different ranges of products that prioritise certain things over others, and all manufactures have products just arem't where they should have been - but that doesn't mean their entire range is poor. Bridgestone make some pretty poor budget tyres (and Lexus seem to fit most of them to their vehicles at the factory 😞), but that doesn't mean the SO3 Pole Position wasn't a great tyre in its category back when it was launched.
  13. None of it is necessary. You don't need central locking, or a stereo, or a rear demister, or Air Con, or power steering etc. etc. But once you have had these things it is hard to go back and do without.
  14. Hi Phil. Not one I've heard of before, and that is potentially a problem because it is only of use whilst they remain in business. I guess it depends on what you are trying achieve. It won't do anything to stop your vehicle being stolen, you just might be able to find it's location, but that is dependant on if it has a mobile reception to send its location, and the speed at which you are aware and can inform the police, and their response to the crime. Personally I'd be more willing to invest in an additional immobiliser to stop it being taken in the first place, such as a Ghost II. More expensive than your option but you would ideally need to have the Rewire installed which would add to the cost, otherwise you have to remember to remove and charge it every month.
  15. It is a great safety feature, no need to take your eyes off the road. You cannot tell your speed on a hybrid, the engine could be doing 0 rpm, 2000 rpm or 4000 rpm at 70 mph on a current generation Toyota hybrid. I imagine it could become a compulsory item at some point in the future.
  16. Welcome Adi What phone do you have and have you tried to connect it via USB to the vehicle? It should show up as a device on the media list but you will probably have to launch the app and select what to play from the phone rather than via the vehicle infotainment system. Otherwise use Bluetooth for connectivity.
  17. Normally 5 mph increments indicates you have Adaptive Cruise Control. If you have this then I think you can change the mode to standard cruise control by pressing and holding the on/off button for 1.5 seconds - you will then have 1 mph increments, but obviously it isn't going to automatically slow down with traffic. This works for many Lexus vehicles, not sure about the 2010 RX. Otherwise you would have to increase the speed yourself via the throttle, pull the level towards you to cancel and then press down to set at the new speed - but the next time you move the level up/down it will round up/down to the nearest 5 mph again.
  18. As Linas has stated, Lexus don't give names to their standard wheels. The front ones have a part code 42611-WY050 which will give you something else to search for but most sellers won't know this code so unfortunately I'm not sure you will find many matches.
  19. All the best Colin, enjoy the ST.
  20. It will help but it should still be ok for three weeks with it enabled, and that system goes into various power save modes after a few days of being left alone.
  21. Yeah correct. I didn't say Toyota for this reason and just limited it to Lexus because of the Supra. I've not looked into the detail of it but the key fob on the Supra looks the same as a BMW fob so they could of just used the complete BMW engine ECU with built in immobiliser and attached security system - which means a new in-house Toyota vehicle still may not get sleeping keys. It is a pain to turn off the smart unlocking system because of the need to put the fob next to the start button - I disabled it on my vehicle at start of Covid to reduce battery discharge and every time I got into it I had already put the key in my pocket - I guess if you were doing it every day you would soon remember.
  22. It isn't normal but just sounds like you never full charge up the battery so discharges too much before you use it again and cannot start, and if you get cycling like that it will get worse and worse until you need a new one. A fully charged battery should last 3 weeks without the vehicle being used.
  23. Those are rear wheels and as standard would have 255/40R18 tyres. The front wheels are 8" rather than 8.5" wide, with ET45 offset and have 225/40R18 tyres.
  24. They are GS300 wheels (series II 1998-2004). Specifically from late 2000 with the facelift.
