  1. Yes they are fine. In your case the secondary diagonal treads can be completely worn and it is still perfectly legal. Only the primary vertical groves need to be 1.6mm or more, and only the middle 75% of the tyre is measured anyway.
  2. The vehicle uses a standard/simple drum brake system which is cable operated. There is an adjustment procedure but that normally isn't required once fitted correctly as there should be little to no wear on the system unless you are in the habit of driving with the parking brake engaged or apply it before the vehicle is stationary. It shouldn't be expensive to repair, but needs investigating as it could be a cable fault or something within the drum brake assembly.
  3. The Lexus LS460 launched in 2006 has it. I believe the LS has been the only model to have it fitted. It will recognise a space the vehicle will fit in if you drive along below 12 mph. Once you engage the system and put it in reverse you have to keep you foot on the brake to keep the speed below 2.5 mph. The latest version on the 2021 LS is completely autonomous (brakes, transmission, throttle as well as steering) and remembers common parking spaces to be faster and more accurate for places you regularly park in. But that is only standard on the £105k model.
  4. It is disappointing that these vibrations occur in the drivetrain, seemingly because of very low rpm of the ICE in certain scenarios. The IS300h has this issue and Lexus developed a damper that partially solved the problem, along with the ECU update to stop the engine running at the resonance rpm as much. Given these issues were known as the series IV RX was being developed you would think more care would have been taken. https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/98541-is300h-permanent-drivetrain-vibrations-1300rpms/ However given that the OP's issue has just started, in this case it seems to be something worn, rather than a design/build issue. Possibly tyres, although I'd expect the issue to also be apparent when on electric power, not just when the ICE is running. Engine mounts are a possibility but I wouldn't expect any issue with those at only 29k miles.
  5. Last year the figure was around 25,000 cases reported to the police, 15,000 of them in and around London - with all areas of the country seeing a rise. Figures between £50 and £200 per device are reportedly what the thieves make.
  6. Well I don't know how well the system works on the Mercedes but you have to go so slow on the Toyota system that it will either cancel itself because you didn't crawl along or you will just take twice as long as parking manually. The IS don't have this as an option.
  7. Lexus RX - Series IV - Equipment specifications (RX L not included) Lexus RX Series IV.pdf
  8. UK supplied vehicles produced before 2003 have the chassis number stamped into the bulkhead, with a aluminium chassis plate riveted to the bulkhead too. Vehicles from 2003 have a chassis number stamped into the bulkhead but the chassis plate is now a white label at the bottom of the B pillar on the passenger side.
  9. Same engine and transmission, but with lowered (10mm) stiffer suspension you could claim it has better handling performance.
  10. no real solution as yet but does this thread describe your symptoms?
  11. That's correct. Only the RX series II and series III plus the CT have cat locks available as there are the targeted vehicles.
  12. It's in the premium nav manual, but obscurely put just within the DVD section rather than across all visual media sections, and missing from the vehicle manual which includes the standard system instructions 😞
  13. a) ACC/PCS was an optional extra only available on the SE-L trim models - very rare. c) what is your definition of full park assist? The Toyota Prius and LS460 (4th gen LS) from around 2006 were the only Toyota/Lexus vehicles that would steer themselves into a space sold in the UK - but the system is slow and cumbersome, it is really just a gimmick.
  14. Dealer doesn't like it because the price is fixed and they make less money. Previously Lexus GB used to auction their vehicles off to the dealers, now they put their stock on the used car section of the website - seems a much better model for everyone (expect the dealers).
  15. You shouldn't experience RPM fluctuations unless the sensor was so bad that the fuel trims have gone way out. You could reset the ECU to speed things along but shouldn't be necessary. MAF cleaner should be just be normal electrical cleaner (isopropyl alcohol) and so is perfectly fine on the throttle body.
  16. Here is the launch info for the Sport: It is different to the F Sport - it doesn't have the F Sport instrument cluster, not the F Sport front/rear bumpers. Depending on the specific vehicle an F Sport could have real leather interior / heated and ventilated seats / Premium Navigation / Upgraded Stereo / AVS suspension depending options selected when purchased - the Sport is a fixed configuration limited edition. Your CT warranty is not transferable to the new vehicle. You can either transfer to the new owner of the CT (if private sale) or cancel and receive pro rata refund if you haven't made a claim.
  17. It appears to be a common failure of the tailgate motor assembly which contains the control unit. Multiple threads on the subject have started up over recent months. Here is one: The only cure so far is to replace the motor assembly - which is expensive. Hoping that some of the failed units can be investigated to see if there is a simple fix.
  18. The only thing you could try is a battery charger with an AGM (pulse) repair mode to see if it can restore some of the lost capacity (e.g. Noco Genius, CTEK, cheap no-name chargers from Amazon). In reality not sure how well these repair modes actually work. All dealers seem to be out of stock of the replacement batteries - too many people have let their batteries get discharged over Covid lockdown and demand is outstripping supply. You could use a standard flooded battery (one with a vent hole that you can connect the vehicles vent tube to as the battery is within the boot which isn't sealed from the cabin). As AGM batteries need a slightly higher charge voltage than standard flooded batteries the vehicle could slightly overcharge it, so you would want to check fluid levels every few months and top up with distilled water if needed. Using a flooded battery means it cannot withstand being discharged as well as an AGM battery and therefore you want to be more careful with keeping it charged up. The challenge will be finding a battery to fit. No one will list their flooded batteries as being compatible with the IS300h so you will need to take measurements of dimensions, terminal size/position and vent hole position to find something that will fit.
  19. No. Non-hybrids don't and older (e.g. RX400h) and some new ones (ES300h, UX250h) don't either.
  20. Neither have a schedule against them. Water pumps tend to leak or get noisy long before they cause major problems and seem quite reliable on the GS450h. Timing chains do stretch and the tensioner will only compensate so far. Anything over 100k and I'd be wanting to look at the tensioner to see how much travel - but not something you can do when just going to look at a vehicle. You would expect error codes and/or noise if the chain is stretched too far.
  21. Was any error code showing up after the engine died and you tried to restart it? Do you know which cylinders have the poor compression? The fact that it runs for 1 second suggest the ECU is shutting it down and would produce a code. Personally I'd be reluctant to spend too much money getting it working considering this vehicle cannot use E10 fuel so you will have the added expense of running on super unleaded soon.
  22. What issues did you have Kevin? I know they constantly make improvements and had quite a few changes for 2021.
