  1. You often find vehicles going faster than the quoted spec but people have inaccurate measuring equipment based on GPS or speedo, non flat roads, wind etc. and the big difference between 0-60 and 0-62 mph. Not sure the Lexus will be as fast as the Rav as it may carry some extra weight but it is still going to be very fast compared to what the NX has been capable of up until now. Not sure all that performance is what the majority of potential buyers will actually be looking for though.
  2. Unfortunately not, I don't believe there is a retrofit for the CT and for the models where there is one they only go back to 2018 models as the oldest but mainly 2019/2020 models. Yes, if you use a Nav application from your phone - you still have the ability to use the Lexus system and if you do you may want to keep that up to date. Would they lose money? Many of the new vehicles are coming with map updates for 3+ years now anyway and I'm not sure how many people actually update them for it to be a money maker. They will obviously lose some money but the alternative was to lose vehicle sales as people are demanding this as a must have feature for a new vehicle.
  3. Correct. You get a simplified iPhone display on your Nav screen and you control it via the touchpad or Siri voice control. The following gives you an idea but unfortunately doesn't go into any of the apps:
  4. RC F, LC500, LC500h, LC500C, LS all beat it but still very fast.
  5. For comparison here is my FWD boot with the floor removed.
  6. Awesome. Where is the space lost then I wonder?
  7. I believe that is a fact for all Lexus vehicles. Locking with the mechanical key doesn't set the alarm. The immobiliser is set though.
  8. You can probably fit the whole golf course in the back of one of those.
  9. I would say yes but that is obviously dependant on your own use case. My local dealer charges £80 for the update. It means you can have a Sat Nav worth using, be that Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze etc.
  10. You don't have to worry about golf bags, Lexus believe all their owners are golf players and wouldn't release a vehicle that you couldn't fit a bag into. It seems to be their unit of measurement:
  11. You are going to get all the Everton fans now saying we stole their tune, and it is an adaptation of a sea shanty how can Watford use it when they aren't coastal town............ COYH
  12. Reseting the system is all done via the vehicle settings menu on the dashboard.
  13. Welcome Mary 🙂 How short are your journeys? I averaged around 32 mpg in mine but my journeys where mainly 10+ miles to/from work, and around 28 mpg on motorways. 23 mpg seems a little low.
  14. I agree, the RAV4 plug in starts at £47k but the one you want is £51k. The Lexus alternative is going to be £55k which is just too much.
  15. Clean the screen and suction cup with isopropyl and make sure the area of the screen you are sticking it to is just glass and doesn't have any black dots or other markings on it.
  16. I've currently got this WD-40 one: https://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-and-fluids/lubricating-and-penetrating-oil/wd-40-specialist-fast-release-penetrant-250ml-366317.html Seems to do the job ok but not as good as the one in my father's old garage that was 20+ years old. Halfords do a 3-in-1 penetrating oil which I'll try when I run out of my current can.
  17. CEL with a K&N filter is normally due to the owner using too much oil when they clean the filter which coats the MAF sensor. If you purchase new then the filter should be pre-oiled so you shouldn't have an issue, at least not initially.
  18. It's probably safe to say that no one has ever tried - it may work with modification but they don't have the same part code so there is going to be some difference.
  19. We don't know the specific design constraints and requirements of the LS430 to know if cost cutting was a major factor as Toyota hasn't publicly released such information. Stainless steel exhausts are noisier than mild steel ones so that could have been a factor in making the LS430 more refined compared to the LS400. Also the replacement cost in the event of a rear end accident and therefore a factor was to reduce insurance premiums. The LS400 was over engineered and therefore costs could be made whilst making the vehicle just as reliable for the first 10 years of its life, especially as the length of initial ownership has decreased over time. As it turns out there were a couple of design issues with the LS430 which contribute to a less reliable vehicle but that obviously isn't know at time of design. Certainly Toyota today isn't all about cost saving; the current RX uses stainless manifolds and exhaust for weight saving and enhanced corrosion protection - they could have saved money by not doing that. People's perception and threshold to detect and tolerate rattles, squeaks and other noises varies greatly. I've been in many vehicles where the owner swears their vehicle is rattle free, and many people of these forums claim the same, yet I hear multiple ones if the car goes over a pothole or you press trim panels etc. In general over the 15 or so Toyota/Lexus vehicles I've owned the newer ones are much better than old for rattles, clicks, squeaks and other noises from the trim pieces moving, rubbing, flexing etc. My wife's UX is probably the best yet; some of the trim pieces may not be seen as ' high quality' but no real rattles or other noises yet. The only thing that lets it down are the very noisy 18" run flat tyres.
  20. The IS-F has different brakes to the GS F and RC F (which share the same brakes). Not sure what else to suggest other than a squirt of penetrating oil every day for a week and then remove using a decent impact wrench.
  21. Do you mean an IS250? The rear exhaust sections have different part codes so I assume they won't directly fit. Almost certainly a series I IS200 exhaust won't fit without heavy modification.
  22. Yes it is normal. Fast idle is used to raise engine temperatures quickly to improve overall emissions.
  23. No, only the F Sport on the series IV. Very similar, but the F Sport has a different grille design - a mesh design rather than horizontal slats. 2017 onwards have AVS, but no VGRS/rear-wheel steer - it's a very different car though with much better handling.
