  1. Welcome Philip, enjoy your new vehicle 🙂
  2. In that case the engine would turn over, just not start. Messi stated there was just a clicking noise, and I assume no engine cranking?
  3. It doesn't sound like the battery, do you have a voltmeter to check the voltage of the battery? Try turning your headlights on for 30 seconds, are they very dim? Seems to be an issue with the starter motor, but certainly rule out the battery first.
  4. As these third party systems don't fully integrate into the Lexus system there are some quirks, and they can be buggy/temperamental. I believe you need to make sure you have the Lexus system set to AUX so that the audio comes through - cycle through using the media button. If you plan on using this device you may want to find out exactly what you have installed and investigate if new firmware is available for the unit.
  5. Dealer upgrade only, unless you go to a third party supplier.
  6. Welcome Kevin. The ES300h only came to the UK market in 2018 so I don't think people here are going to give you any specific advise, only general. You may want to post on our sister forums: https://au.lexusownersclub.com/forums/ https://us.lexusownersclub.com
  7. The radiator should have 5023 or 5024 markings on the top in the centre. It is then further determined whether you have a cap on top of the radiator or a screw in plug. Given the age of your vehicle I'd guess at a 5024 without a cap, in which case it may be difficult to find one other than a genuine Lexus part as most aftermarket ones are pre-facelift US designed ones.
  8. Private owners are able to transfer the warranty to a new owner, trade are not. Yes you can take out a warranty from a dealer after you purchase, the only thing is if the vehicle is out of warranty cover then an inspection may need to be conducted to ensure there are no pre-existing faults before the new policy can be taken out. Some dealers may charge for this, others will waive the fee if they are carrying out a servicing, or if it has full Lexus service history they may just do a quick check without charging. Worth speaking to your local dealer to confirm (service department not sales 😉 )
  9. If it is as described (not doubting you but these things happen quickly) then either a driveshaft or prop shaft failure would cause loss of drive and the potential to damage the exhaust. Prop shaft would be very unlikely and is somewhat contained so I'd say more likely a driveshaft has parted ways at the diff end.
  10. Get a Brodit phone holder for your iPhone and just use the phone for Navigation/music etc. You can still have the audio coming through the vehicle's system via bluetooth, just don't use the in-built infotainment system.
  11. There really isn't anything common fault wise with the IS300h. So just look out for the normal things (tyres, brakes, bodywork etc.) and one that has been cared for, i.e. has not been run on the cheap, so look for Lexus history history and quality brand tyres. If you purchase privately then a vehicle that has a Lexus extended warranty (that is transferable to yourself) is an obvious advantage. Purchasing from a Lexus dealer certainly minimises risk but you are going to pay probably £2k+ above a private sales.
  12. Yes back then so many Toyota/Lexus wheels were being replaced under the manufacturer's warranty that they started to refurb the old ones.
  13. Toyota/Lexus don't have paint codes for their wheels. The OEMs paint them and have their own codes - sadly these are seemingly impossible to obtain.
  14. We don't, only parasols. But if you need to walk near a sprinkler then they do offer some water protection too. 😉
  15. Yes the primary cat is on the exhaust header/downpipe in the engine bay, the same as it is for the Prius, CT200h, RX400h, RX450h etc. but it is the secondary cat that gets stolen which is under the vehicle on ALL Lexus hybrid vehicles. The IS300h just isn't targeted as the cat isn't as valuable as older vehicles.
  16. No, £250 is fitted. The retail for the part is £209 according to LPD, who sell it for £198.55 https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/parts/lexus-ct/lexus-ct-2010-onwards/lexus-ct-engine-service-kits/lexus-ct-phase-1-catalytic-converter-lock/
  17. I think I'm up to 24 of them in my house.
  18. I actually found an earlier dated comment from Lexus on the same thread: on page 8 of the comments: https://mag.lexus.co.uk/catalytic-converter-theft/comment-page-8/#comments
  19. From the Lexus blog, this was the first entry where price was mentioned/confirmed: It seems some dealers weren't informed, conveniently forgot, or just applied standard margins/labour rates when they probably should be reduced rates to help owners mitigate cat theft risk.
  20. As Herbie has described above. Come to a stop normally then press the brake pedal down harder to enable the system. You then have 2 seconds between releasing the brake and pressing the throttle before the vehicle (may) roll backwards. It seems the newer hybrid vehicles have less forward force than older ones and therefore have a tendency to roll back more. They all will though, even auto boxes, if the slope is too steep. Newer vehicles such as the series IV RX, IS300h etc. have an automatic hill start system. The vehicle detects if it is on a sufficient incline to need hill start and engages it automatically. Unfortunately on the series III 450h you have to manually press down on the brake pedal to enable the system.
  21. No. A generator produces electricity as a conductor cuts through a magnetic field (magnetic induction), therefore you must have movement.
  22. I believe the immobiliser control unit is separate to the engine ECU on the 400h so an ECU with the same part code should plug straight in. I will say that it is extremely rare for an ECU problem so I'd rule out other possibilities first.
