  1. Make sure the engine is cold and vehicle level. Undo the filler/level plug on the side of the transmission (you want to make sure you can get new oil in there before draining the old oil) Undo the drain plug on the bottom Once all oil has come out, fit new gasket/washer and tighten drain plug. Fill via the filler on the side (you will need some way to force the new oil in (pump etc). When oil comes out, it is full. Fit new gasket/washer to filler plug and tighten. I think there is a plug on the top of the transmission that you could use to put in the new oil - makes it easier as you can just pour in via a funnel, however that's another gasket/washer you need - you still need the filler removed on the side to know when your level is correct. This is the spec of the oil you need:
  2. There's really not much you can do. If you know where it is coming from you could try and block it with some sheet metal / foil, but that's not really practical. If it is persistent (and not of your own doing) then reporting to Ofcom is all you can do - if something is interfering that isn't near the vehicle then it is almost certainly operating above permitted power levels and therefore Ofcom have the powers to get it shut down/prosecute.
  3. LPD may be cheaper than you local dealer, but still expensive https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/parts/lexus-nx/lexus-nx-2014-present/lexus-nx-accessories/lexus-nx-phase-1-rubber-floormats/ There are third party mats available, you need to be careful about quality and fit for the cheaper ones you find on ebay.
  4. I remember when I purchased my first used Lexus, which was back in 2001/2002. Back then all their cars went through a very detailed independent inspection (I think the AA), which would mean every stone chip or issue had to be resolved, all tyres needed at least 4mm of thread and it would always be serviced so you didn't have to worry about it for the next 9k miles/1 year. Sadly those standards are long gone, now approved used Lexus doesn't really mean anything other than it has service history and comes with the, admittedly great, Lexus extended warranty. Body work marks won't be resolved unless negotiated at time of sale, provided the tyres are legal they won't be changed, a service will only be done if it is less than 3 months before the next one is due.
  5. Glad it's sorted. That wouldn't have been a cheap fix out of warranty - I imagine that was like it from the factory, or got worse during the 3 year manufacturer warranty but the previous owner didn't notice or put up with it as a characteristic of the vehicle. Not surprised they changed the fuel pump as there is a TSB which describes your symptoms: Slight noise and vibration while driving at low speed due to high pressure pump
  6. Ouch. Has that failed from the inside out, or has someone left a spanner in the engine bay?
  7. I think it depends what Grom product you are considering. I had an old Grom adapter in my 400h - worked pretty well, needed the occasional reboot. But that was an aux input. A full VLine Carplay unit is something else and seem problematic.
  8. I think it's similar to the situation with windows where someone at some point in time has sat on their remote and opened their windows/boot without knowing, so now Lexus disable the feature by default or everyone. I don't have a problem with that if they made the setting available to the owner through the menu system, but for some reason they continue to make it a dealer only customisation.
  9. Yes that's what seems to be the default now. The tailgate won't open unless the vehicle is unlocked first. If can be changed so that it will open if the vehicle is locked - which is how it as always worked on older Lexus vehicle (2003 - 2015?).
  10. The series III GS450h (2006-2011) owners have reported issues with hybrid batteries and transmission oil pumps. Not in huge numbers but more troublesome than any other Toyota/Lexus hybrid. No such issues reported with the series IV GS450 (2012-2019) - possibly just because of the age of the vehicles, but probably because of improvements made. Personally if you can afford a series IV then I'd go with that. A much better chassis and more modern interior too. On the series IV the F Sport has 4 wheel steer and variable gear steering - as these vehicles age they are just extra things that could go wrong. The Luxury grade is well spec'd. 1339148033LexusGSRangeEquipmentSpec.pdf
  11. sound like interference is stopping the fobs working if the batteries are ok. Move the vehicle to see if they work elsewhere.
  12. Looked into this a bit further. Seems Lexus now default to a setting that only allows the Power Back Door to open via the wireless key fob if the vehicle is unlocked. There is a setting to allow it to unlock the vehicle and open the PBD when pressing the key fob (either holding down for 0.8s or double press can be selected) but that is a dealer only configuration setting (or someone with techstream - Carista doesn't know about this setting).
  13. Weird. Try this, I've exported to a PDF (sorry it's a bit large). Lexus Lives: Ross Campbell, paintwork appreciator - Lexus UK Magazine 2.pdf
  14. Yes that was removed for EVs from last year.
  15. Aesthetics only. Weight saving compared to having those areas filled in with aluminium. Unfortunately due to the design/mounting holes you need them - doesn't look good if they are removed.
  16. I assume you meant 50 mW? 220 ohm / 1 W resistor will do the job. The Toyota battery is currently behaving like a capacity, with some charge on the plates - you need to put some load on it to make it drop down to a normal 12.7 v.
  17. Three. One primary cat in each of the two exhaust manifolds and a secondary cat under the vehicle.
  18. You should be fine leaving it for two weeks. After 5 days the smart entry system slows down which reduces power consumption.
  19. In the UK DAB was a £360 option on all grades from launch. The first model to have it as standard was the Premier (when it replaced the SE-L Premier) in Oct 2012 as it became part of the Premium Nav. If Nav was added to the other grades they therefore also got DAB rather than having to purchase a separate option to get it. With the facelift in early 2014 it became standard across the grades.
  20. F Sport possibly attracts a younger owner who is more likely to change their car more frequently? You normally expect to see 3 year old vehicle come up for sale as the 36 month leases expire. Now that is only the 2018 models - so vehicles up for sale could become even rarer.
  21. For a Lexus extended warranty - there is no recognised specialist. It is an authorised Lexus service dealership or warranty void.
  22. Yes, if the wheels are designed for flat (non-tapered) ones.
