  1. If you cannot resolve the issue, or it keeps coming back, then replace the pads with something like EBC redstuff which won't squeal and you will have less brake dust too.
  2. Essentials servicing was a discounted service for vehicles over 5 years old. It's been discontinued so the only option now is the standard service - glad you got a discount which brings it inline with what you would have paid for essentials.
  3. Ideally get it changed ASAP but at least inspect it for wear / cracking. The OEM belt is normally good for much longer than the service schedule but if it snaps it will result in engine valve/piston damage.
  4. Belt, which should be changed every 100k miles/10 years.
  5. If you cannot live with the basic 6 speaker audio system with integrated amp then for 2019 models you either need an F Sport with the Premium Plus pack which has the 8 speaker system (pioneer headunit, extra speakers are a sub in the boot and centre speaker + separate pioneer amp), a standard UX with the Tech & Sound pack - which includes the 13 speaker ML system, or a Takumi grade which has the ML system as standard. In 2020 the Premium Pro Pack became available which also includes the ML system.
  6. Historically it takes 6 to 8 months for UK pricing to be announced and orderability after the first unveiling of a new model, with the first orders arriving 10 to 12 months after that first event. A June unveiling is quite late in the year however, maybe they will accelerate spec/pricing to happen in the normal September timeframe with cars arriving in Feb/March 2022.
  7. If the battery charge was very low it will take the vehicle 3+ hours to charge it up fully - 20 miles just isn't enough. You are best to use an external battery charger to fully charge the battery then rely on the vehicle to maintain the battery charge whist driving/in 'Ready' mode. As Mark has stated above, always put your vehicle into Ready mode when using accessories and let the petrol engine cut in/out as needed.
  8. Wasn't there a TV advert years ago where parents come back from a holiday to find their teenage son all chilled out and listening to classical music and the father accuses him of driving his Lexus?
  9. It's not advisable to select N when moving; depending on the speed and the specific hybrid system generation/specification you can over speed MG1. There is also no need - pressing hard on the brakes will always engage the mechanical brakes even if the hybrid system is doing a small amount of regenerative braking. Just do a couple of hard 60-10 mph braking runs in quick succession, that will clean the discs.
  10. admins don't really want pinned topics and it should ideally go into the 'how to guides' section but I've pinned for now.
  11. Toyota moved away from belt timed engines around 2000 (for new designs) which meant practically all vehicles are chain driven from 2008 onwards. The series III MR2 (the MR-S) uses a 1.8 ZZ engine which is different from the ZR series engine used in the CT but it is also chain driven. Those chains could stretch and therefore could need a replacement but they do not have timing belts. The series I and series II MR2s (4A-GE and 3S-GE / 3S-GTE engines) use timing belts.
  12. Relax doesn't apply until your full 3 year warranty expires so no problems there.
  13. Unfortunately not. The F Sport essentially comes with the convenience pack as standard which is the powered tailgate and wireless charger but the Premier Pack is a £4k addition which gives you heated steering wheel, drivers seat memory, Mark Levinson audio, 360° camera, Head Up Display, Adaptive Variable Suspension and the Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The 10" screen is just a standard upgrade as part of the facelift model.
  14. Sunroof, pano or none. In this case it doesn't have any according to the build spec: Sun roof & moon roof Without It doesn't have the Premium Pack either.
  15. How old is your vehicle - are you still in manufacturer's warranty or is your vehicle now no longer covered until you next get a service?
  16. Hi Daniel This is disappointing to hear, especially from a Lexus dealer. Given that you have specifically asked about thread depth, you were misled. However the timeframe is an issue - you ideally needed to have rejected the car, or asked the dealer to put the issues right within the first few weeks. Now you are going to get accusations about you have worn down the tyres, or they aren't the ones they sold you etc. Speak to your dealer, if you get no joy then I'd recommend you speak to Citizens Advise - start here: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/buying-or-repairing-a-car/problems-with-a-used-car/ With regards to non-matching tyres, it is legal but not best practice. A puncture, kerb damage, tyre wear could also be reasons for a single tyre being replaced. As for other issues, I wouldn't worry - the Lexus IS is relatively bullet proof and I assume you have a 12 month Lexus extended warranty with it anyway if you purchased from a dealer?
  17. It isn't great and I'm not sure I'd put up with it without some form of upgrade but my wife is fine with it, and it's her car. I guess it comes down to expectations, tolerance and priorities. Play around with the base, mid, treble adjustments which are set per source input and also the fader. I found the high end too bright so I've upped the mid and bass a little and faded more to the rear.
  18. I'd have no issues with the mileage. To do that many miles in 3 years means they are mainly going to be easy motorway miles. The only thing to consider is the next owner - if it's close to 100k miles when you want to sell it then they won't get the Relax warranty for long and therefore it would have an effect on the valuation at time of sale. But if it will be close to 10 years old then it doesn't matter anyway.
  19. The series II NX is to be revealed Sat 12 June: https://www.lexus.eu/car-models/all-new-nx/reveal/ Here's a taste:
  20. I suspect the main driver is to stop providing warranties for vehicles over 100k miles, where claims increase, and to reduce the standard Toyota warranty from 5 to 3 years. Providing a new vehicle warranty of 5 years (and possibly they are under pressure to provide 7 years like the Korean manufactures) means owners are free to use any independent they wish for those 5 years. Now they can only do that for 3 years and then are forced to use Toyota dealers if they want to extend their warranty. It's a way to make sure people use the franchised dealers for servicing where those dealers make their money. They have also scraped the cheaper essentials servicing for vehicles over 5 years old. Service on my GS was £655 last September and it is still the same price. But the warranty helps justify this high service price.
