  1. It isn't the same engine. The IS uses the 2AR-FSE engine with direct injection and a 13:1 compression ratio. The NX uses the 2AR-FXE which lacks direct injection and has a compression ration of 12.5:1. The UX engine is a completely different generation of engine.
  2. The IS, GS and RC have the same engine, and the NX engine is similar but lacks direct injection which is the main reason its power is down. Both the UX and ES use a newer generation of Toyota Dynamic Force engine which are more efficient and next generation hybrid systems.
  3. Seems about the same. They will cover the infotainment system but won't cover seat mechanisms, sunroof assembly and bizarrely claim that wiring and connections are wear/perishable items (well I guess they are on a VAG vehicle)!
  4. It sounds like the existing fluid is in a poor state, or the wrong type, so I'd continue with another drain and refill (actually probably worth doing it a couple of times).
  5. If you live in a built up area where your vehicle might be a target then you might want to avoid a hybrid vehicle older than 2015. In theory any car could be a target but it is the old hybrids that currently are.
  6. hybrids are targeted because the petrol engine isn't always in use and therefore the cat should be in better condition for the age of the vehicle, plus the cats used 15 years ago contained more valuable metals. Back then it was only Toyota, Honda and Lexus making hybrids.
  7. Hybrids are typically the targets, so the RX400h. In theory the RX300/350 could be targeted as easily but I've not heard of it happening.
  8. RHS of the boot. You need to remove some of the trim to get to it.
  9. hmmm. Well the Corsa starts at just under £17k and the EV version starts at just under £23.5k at the moment so not sure there is double the cost. It will be up to the car industry to push development to get the vehicles more affordable, otherwise new players will come in and take their market share.
  10. EVs are more efficient than ICE vehicles, by a substantial amount, and the ability to recycle the batteries is improving all the time. But it isn't just about sustainability; ICE vehicles polluting streets rather than the ability to control/contain pollution at centralised locations is another major factor.
  11. The ES and UX have the most modern engines, both have filters near the bottom of the engine - sticking out horizontally like the IS250 so at least you don't get oil down your arm when taking them off. Interestingly Toyota have moved back to the full metal can filters rather than the replaceable paper element type they have been using for the last 15 or so years. Personally I don't see the point in having the filer fitted high up, you need to drain the oil from underneath so you may as well remove the filter whilst you are there at the same time.
  12. It's a European scheme. Available in France: https://www.lexus.fr/ownership/warranty/lexus-relax/
  13. Given the US cars have a different system then I'd like to hope that any attempt would just fail. If not you risk completely bricking your infotainment system so I'd recommend you don't try.
  14. Typically you can take out similar polices cheaper if you shop around. As will all insurance, you need to decide if they are worth the money for you. Also check the small print - many of these policies have an excess to pay on each claim, or limit the number of times you can use them in a year.
  15. Another flush/drain & refill, otherwise it would be a transmission strip down. Definitely check the fluid level first, and inspect other things such as engine/transmission mounts. Then do another fluid drain/refill and go from there.
  16. Not sure it is fluid level, but the correct procedure is this: IS250 transmission fluid.pdf Did you use Toyota WS fluid? Sounds like clutch contamination possibly in the torque converter, although that should be in lock-up on the motorway
  17. The RX has three; two in the engine bay (one for each bank of the V6 engine) and one under the vehicle. (*1 in the diagram) The NX has two; one in the engine bay and one under the vehicle, although the one under is near the engine bay and not as easy to get to as the RX. (*2 in the NX diagram)
  18. Herbie, page 632 of the following US manual shows a single interior fuse box on the driver's side. I assume it will be mirrored and therefore be on the driver's side for the RHD vehicles. https://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM0E042U/pdf/OM0E042U.pdf I believe there is a 7.5A Dome fuse in there.
  19. Correct, just a Lexus rebadged non-integrated third-party system fitted by the dealer. It wasn't until the series III RX that parking sensors were factory fitted, and integrated into the vehicle so the warning appear on the dashboard etc. If you have one with a reversing camera then I don't think you need the rear ones. Would be handy more on the front as it's not always easy to tell where the bumper ends but you soon get use to it over time.
  20. You must have been on the US site by mistake LOL - it talks about Lexus Enform, 5k service schedule etc. Here is the UK launch brochure Lexus_GSF_e-brochure March 2016.pdf and the UK price list which shows the options:
  21. I believe it's a pain as you need to remove the interior boot lid cover, remove both lights, then you can unscrew and unclip the trim that covers the across where the light/release button/camera. Then the light itself just unclips by levering one end and pushing in the clip.
