If you want genuine Lexus parts then lexuspartsdirect.co.uk is probably the best place. Autodoc.co.uk have Brembo discs that are much cheaper, but the finish on the non-friction surface isn't as good so you may want to paint them before putting them on the vehicle. If you don't track and want less dust / squeal then for pads use EBC Redstuff, for light track then Yellowstuff. No special equipment needed, any mechanic can perform the job.

Both the RX and GS hybrids at that age were Otto engines, only the Prius was Atkinson. I imagine that emissions/economy weren't the highest priority on these vehicles as they were sold on their performance more than anything else and possibly didn't warrant the extra engine R&D needed when they weren't sure on how well they would sell. The GS450h series III vs IV - the are quite similar in power as Chris has stated, the engine is slightly down but the hybrid performance is up so the total system power is the same, as are the performance times. On the RX side the series III 450h is slower than the series II 400h despite a larger engine, but that is a result of the series III being a larger vehicle.

There's a difference in slamming on the brakes as hard as possible or coming off the throttle early and letting your speed bleed off.

The series III GS450h uses the 2GR-FSE engine, which runs the conventional Otto cycle. The series IV GS450h (2012 onwards) uses the 2GR-FXE engine, which runs the Atkinson cycle with a higher compression ratio. It is more energy efficient and where it lacks power the electric motors compensate so is ideally suited for Hybrid vehicles. All the 2GR engines are very similar.

I'd never had an issue with it not working, I just don't find it very useful so rarely use it.

44k for a set of pads on a high performance car is very good. Obviously it varies massively based on how you drive. Personally I like to use the accelerator but rarely do heavy braking so I see little wear on the rotors or pads.

They already have. Some of Tesla's vehicle today use iron-phosphate cathodes and are cobalt free. Johnson Matthey have Nickel cathodes which drastically reduce cobalt.

Format wars don't help anyone, especially when we are talking about huge investments needed to make either as convenient as ICE currently is. Better to fully back one than to dilute the benefit by partially backing two. Use hydrogen for where it is most applicable: ships, construction machinery, large trucks or long distance public transport.

Try autodoc.co.uk. They have blueprint parts which are generally well respected. Parts will come from Germany and may take over a week to arrive. An alternative is rockauto.com. They have lots of options, but the AISIN kit is probably the best option as all the parts are OEM manufactures and probably the same quality as the genuine badged Lexus parts. If you choose FedEx you can pay for all duties up front so you don't get an admin fee by a UK courier to cover tax recovery administration. Probably worth doing the water pump at the same time as it is labour intensive to change on its own.

I think a little more help to a new member wouldn't hurt here John? Rob has asked for good quality rather than 'the best' quality parts. Please show respect that he would know parts are available from Lexus. Many owners look for alternatives on older vehicles to reduce running costs.

2010 onwards had a revised audio system with USB input, and the nav changed to hard drive based rather than DVD.

Unfortunately it is only the MY2020 and onwards that the NX was fitted with Lexus Link and therefore logs every journey the vehicle makes. Without this, a dash cam or tracker it is essentially impossible to prove the extra mileage occurred, other than a photo of the odometer when you dropped off the vehicle. I find the attitude of the manager disappointing. I'd understand it if this was a small independent backstreet garage where I'm sure they get the occasional person trying it on, but an expensive vehicle being serviced at a franchised dealer - I'd expect them to take your word on the matter. Personally I'd make sure no one you know ever uses them again. I'd suggest complaining to Lexus GB, but I have a strong suspicion that they will just side with the dealer, which they seem to do 99% of the time 😞

They are normally noisier than mild steel because the metal is thinner, otherwise the cost gets too much.
