  1. It does sound like a 12v battery failure. Hopefully you can test or try a replacement to confirm. If the battery is good then you need a code reader to obtain the fault code(s) from the vehicle.
  2. You only need 20 amps for a hybrid to get it into Ready mode as the engine isn't started by the 12v supply, just the onboard computers need to be powered up. Purchase the smallest jump starter you need to cover any other use (e.g. other vehicles in your household).

  6. Assume it needs to be wet applied if you don't have instructions stating otherwise - you only have one shot if you tried to do it dry which isn't going to end well.
  7. The PPF that Toyota/Lexus use is quite thick, so very unlikely to get a stone strike actually damage the paint, and it can be applied easily at the factory but you can see the edges. Using a thinner PPF that needs to be wet applied just isn't going to be cost effective on a mass produced vehicle and offers less protection.
  8. No we aren't talking about Tesla but it is proof that legally you aren't entitled to a brand new part just because your old one failed - you asked for something to back up my statement. It's highly unlikely that it would be worth Toyota's time in refurbing a TPMS sensor but if they wanted to they could and use it to fix a warranty issue. You could engage your solicitor but you would waste your money because there is no law being broken.
  9. Must be true then 🤣 The Lexus digital key uses BLE, not UWB. Within the owners manual at the back is the certifications section. There is no mention of 6.0 GHz - 8.5 GHz frequencies needed by UWB being used (unlike the NX manual for example), so either the manual is missing conforming statements or the LBX doesn't have UWB.
  10. Why do you think you would be entitled to a new part if you had months/years of wear from it? If your iPhone needs to be replaced under warranty you will get a refurb unit if they cannot just do a simple component repair on your existing one. There is nothing in consumer law that states parts must be new. Tesla's warranty info is easier to find that Lexus': If your Battery or Drive Unit requires warranty repair, Tesla will repair the unit, or replace it with a new, reconditioned or re-manufactured part at the sole discretion of Tesla. The warranty replacement may not restore the vehicle to a "like new" condition, but when replacing a Battery, Tesla will ensure that the energy capacity of the replacement Battery is at least equal to that of the original Battery before the failure occurred while taking into consideration other factors, including the age and mileage of the vehicle. To provide you with even more assurance, this Battery and Drive Unit Limited Warranty will also cover damage to your vehicle from a Battery fire even if it is the result of driver error. But a battery that is made up of many cells and is costly means it is worthwhile repairing them to use for warranty repairs.
  11. Yes they can. They don't have to fit new parts on any warranty claim - that's the same with cars, computers, consumer goods etc. In fact for car batteries (especially EVs), manufacturers normally always fit reconditioned parts and they would typically match any degradation too. Otherwise you get people trying to game the system and purposely introduce a fault to reclaim any lost range by getting a new battery.
  12. Not sure I'd want to keep any modern Lexus beyond the 10 year Relax warranty. The GS450h F Sport for example is a ticking time bomb with regards to the rear wheel steering and a £2k repair bill when the rack fails.
  13. People are getting up to 50 mpg in the 450h+ in HV mode - much better than the 500h. The noise is the engine, not the CVT - it isn't as nice in any of the new RXs due to them being I4 rather than the V6 which you currently have - it's not bad, just not as nice.
  14. Similar to how you would put a chain back on a bicycle. Put the belt on the crank pulley and around the top of the other pulley as far as it will go and then rotate the crank pulley using a wrench (the same as when you remove it) to force the belt over the top of the pulley. Just make sure it is seated centrally on the pulley when on.
  15. No, there was a TSB if an owner complained which would be investigated under warranty. I doubt you could get it retrofitted now, even if you paid, and it didn't completely resolve the issue. There are a number of reasons for the cause of a vibration though - it would be worth getting your vehicle checked out to make sure you don't have any other issue such as a mounting or bearing with wear.
  16. The two models are quite different. The 500h is aimed as a driver's car, only available in F Sport trim, with a conventional transmission and rear wheel steering. But don't expect too much more than 30 mpg (and could be worse depending on driving style). As above, it is recommended to test drive both.

  19. Yes, sleeping keys are now being used - I assume across all models but difficult to be sure as they don't explicitly state when these changes are made on a model by model basis.
  20. Those sources are incorrect and especially for the UK/Europe region as the US has different regulations and requirements. The NX for example got UWB keys in 2023 along with a few other modifications, and the LS only got UWB this year. I believe some models still don't use this technology - the LBX is included in this omission, although you could just use the digital key on your smartphone as this uses bluetooth which is practically impossible to relay at this time. As for CAN bus, I don't believe Toyota is looking to use encryption. They are using signatures to register components to the vehicle to stop foreign devices injecting commands and impersonating the door controller for example. Vehicles that use this technology cannot be stolen using current techniques - this includes the LBX.
  21. Lexus is fully transparent with their service pricing which all dealers should follow. If the vehicle is new then you would need 2x intermediate and 1x Full. You don't typically get a discount on a service plan - just protection yourself against service cost increases and the ability to spread the payment monthly.
  22. The issue seems to be with Autotrader in the way it labels the vehicles. None of the traders actually state XKR-S on their websites, it is just the AT advert heading. The private sale one at £22.5k certainly looks a genuine XKR-S.

  24. Latest RX. It affects most Lexus vehicles built roughly in the range of Q4 2022 to Q3 2023.
  25. If it's any consolidation this isn't an RZ issue. It affects batches of nearly all the models available within the last two years - RX, NX, UX, LS, ES and RZ.
