Selling hybrids due to cat-theft risk?

Marking won't stop an individual taking a cat, or make the police come to the crime scene. It allows the police to prove that cats found in raids/customs checks have been stolen rather than legitimately taken from scraped vehicles. If the dealers no longer want to take the risk in trading then the thieves will no longer have demand for their stolen items and will therefore stop. -
I believe it is down to each dealership - if you book online then you get different options depending on which dealer you select: e.g. Reading: Bristol: Chester: I know of one member here who didn't pay the extra and was down several hundred pounds because they got a cracked windscreen just minutes after driving the vehicle away 😞

Sounds like it has got a bit lazy, or the mechanism is a little dirty which creates too much resistance. Several squirts of WD-40 whilst fully moving the mirror to the extremes of its travel in all directions may help a bit. -

30 mm is the maximum amount of free play you should have, there is no minimum. -

There is no set definition but most people associate AWD with split power between front and rear wheels, which can be altered automatically by the vehicle as needed, and suitable for road use. 4WD, when engaged, typically locks front and rear drive shafts together so power is equally distributed front/rear (and possibly locking differentials as well so all wheels are always driven) for maximum grip but only really suitable for off-road as you need wheels to slip to overcome different radius when going round corners. Therefore RAV4, RX, NX, UX, LS etc. have AWD A Landcruiser is 4WD. -
The secondary cat isn't monitored before/after. You either have sensors before/after the primary cats and the secondary is unmonitored (more common on modern Lexus vehicles), or the upstream sensor(s) are before primary cat(s) and downstream sensor is after the secondary cat(s). Here is an example of two primary cats and a single secondary cat with only one downstream sensor - this is the 2000 RX300. and the more modern configuration (primary cat monitor before/after (No. 3 and 4) with the secondary cat at the bottom left unmonitored - this is the IS300h Primary and secondary cats have been standard on Lexus models for 20+ years - only now with GPFs being fitted is the secondary one sometimes eliminated.

The incorrect wheel geometry that you had could have worn the tyres in an uneven way and therefore are now contributing to the slight pull. Might be worth rotating the tyres front to back (or swap the fronts over if your tyres aren't directional (unlikely)). -

The IS300h is the same as this NX300h - primary cat is in the engine bay, secondary cat is on the exhaust underneath the vehicle. -

The NX300h didn't get a GPF until mid 2019 (manufactured not registered). Until then the secondary cat is on the front section of the exhaust and what was stolen in this case. I'm not 100% sure the European models after 2019 have a GPF either - in theory they don't need it for Euro-6d regulations as it is only a requirement for Direct Injection engines, which the NX300h is not - so it may only be China, and some other regions that have the GPF - but maybe they are fitted to Euro models too - some further investigate required there. -

Never had an issue tightening a locking wheel nut to the correct torque on any of my Toyota/Lexus vehicles. 103 Nm isn't that bad. It's when a tyre fitting company with inaccurate wrenches puts it > 130 Nm that you can have a problem. -

I was certainly happy with the Reds on mine. No noise, little dust and for normal road use I didn't really notice any difference from the OEM pads. -
Yeah, it was true for Toyota engines before the introduction of VVT, and true for the OP of that thread as they had a series I GS. The problem is that Toyota aren't explicit whether the engine is interference, whereas in the past they have been explicit for non-interference, and depending on the VVT positioning the engine could be non-interference but you would have to be lucky. For the specific engine you have, the GS300 repair manual (for year 2000) has this warning on the timing belt removal procedure so it is an interference design:

There seems to be quite a few inaccuracies in the quote you found. Firstly I assuming they are talking about the 2GR-FKS rather than the 2GR-FXS as they refer to the GS350. This engine was introduced to the GS in the 2016 facelift. It adopts Toyota VVT-iW technology - the W standard for Wide and allows the intake timing to be further altered from standard VVT-i which does allow the engine to move into an Atkinson mode when under partial load and operates in Otto mode for the rest of the time. This is performed by solenoid and oil pressure as normal. The engine does not use VVT-iE which uses an electric motor to control intake timing - this is used on the LS and the F engine in the GS F, RC F and LC500. This allows wide operation, as VVT-iW, but with advantage that intake timing can be changed when the engine is at idle, when oil pressure isn't strong enough to use the hydraulic method. This engine was not adopted in the GS450h, it kept the 2GR-FXE even with the facelift. The 2GR-FXS is the hybrid adapted version of the 2GR-FKS - it is used in the series IV RX450h, not in the GS450h.
