  1. It should be 5 place drop for double yellows and 3 places for single. Apparently max ignored double waved yellows. Not sure why they still haven't made a decision - should be clear cut and announced a few minutes after qualifying ended.
  2. In theory he should be too far back with a 5 place grid penalty for ignoring double waved yellows, but I'll be surprised if he receives the standard penalty for this offence.
  3. Firstly I suspect the petrol engine will run up every now and then for most people unless they go out of their way to make sure it runs in EV only mode. However you will receive a dashboard warning message if the petrol engine hasn't been used for a long time: and they make a point of warning the owner in the manual: For plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, fuel may remain in the tank for a long time and undergo changes in quality depending on the how the vehicle is used. Refuel at least 20 L (5.3 gal., 4.4 Imp.gal.) of fuel every 12 months (refuel a total of at least 20 L [5.3 gal., 4.4 Imp.gal.] over a 12- month period), as this may affect components of the fuel system or the gasoline engine. With regards to the GPF - another message will also appear when necessary on the dash: I'm not sure why there is so much negativity here - Toyota has displayed enough engineering skills over the years, with a reputation for reliability, for them to be given the benefit of doubt that they have considered such things.
  4. Worth asking your dealership for you to test another RX, either their showroom vehicle or a demonstrator to see if your one is abnormal. I'd expect to be able to hear the diverter closing position if you listen carefully when stationary but not when there is road noise. Possibly the gasket that seals the diverter is missing/dislodged.
  5. But when a vehicle has a GPF installed the engine management system behaves differently to ensure burn off can occur.
  6. It's an unfair comparison as the equivalent of the ES is the Toyota Avalon - but it is unavailable in the UK.
  7. I didn't hear him mention a participant particulate filter at all? Not sure they even have them on US models (certainly the F vehicles don't as they kept the 470+ bhp when the European versions decrease to 450+ bhp because of the added filter) - they have only been fitting them in the last few years to European models to meet Euro 6d regulations so how they perform and long term issues are unknown at the moment.
  8. Agreed. Unless you are going to do a long distance then only fill between 1/4 to 1/2 full. There is then the benefit of not carrying around so much weight.
  9. Agreed, if you notice a difference then you have gone way past a change interval. The standard change interval is preventative maintenance.
  10. Using the 450h+ mainly on battery power would mean the GPF not getting clogged anywhere near as much in the first place. I would imagine that once it gets to a certain level the system will force the petrol engine to run and get up to temperature - it does this to a certain extent with the current hybrids (UX, NX etc).
  11. Obviously the negative to this is they need to keep their dealers happy so have a normal service interval schedule for the vehicle to generate them some revenue.
  12. are you sure he didn't mean change the 12v battery? No one changes the hybrid battery without serious diagnostics first. Definitely get the 12v battery checked out first as it is probably in poor condition.
  13. iOS 15 seems to have an auto connect bug - many people complaining across different manufacturer forums, not just Lexus.

  15. They shouldn't have touched the air filter then, but I guess they could have inspected it. Does the noise occur when the vehicle is running on electric only, i.e. the petrol engine isn't running?
  16. What was done on the service? Possible the air filter isn't fitted properly.
  17. Just seems to be the way Toyota has designed the system and they don't seem to want to change the design. Other hybrids and EVs periodically charge the 12v battery from their traction battery when the vehicle is parked until the traction battery gets to a low state of charge itself.
  18. no other Toyotas use the same part code, not sure if something else would fit.
  19. Diodes or capacitors would be my guess. Either a PSU rail or CPU reset circuitry not working as it should - I doubt the microcontroller has failed.
  20. I can tell you that the information you are looking for won't be there. Lexus treat the unit as a non-repairable assembly that is swapped out - you will find removal/installation instruction but certainly no service information for the product itself - only Pioneer would have that and they won't provide it as it is OEM, and even if not they would be unlikely to unless you are an authorised repair centre.
