£ 123 at Lexuspartsdirect. They come pre-sprayed so make sure you order the correct colour. Apparently the IS uses the same part - not that it really helps you unless you are looking for a second hand one from a breakers. I cannot find anyone selling a 3rd party replacement (autodoc, rockauto etc)

Tyre Recommendations
ColinBarber replied to robpace's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Maybe not the most common of sizes but still way more than the 20" ones being discussed here. I think that size was used on the NX, RAV4 and other manufacturers too. -
Tyre Recommendations

It's a nice idea but I'm not sure the tiny market the RX creates in Europe would be enough to justify bringing a non-standard size tyre to market. -
Cat theft on New 2022 NX
ColinBarber replied to JeffL's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Certainly exposed but doesn't hang down so not quite as easy to get to as some vehicles. Given that the cats on latest generation of vehicles don't contain the same quantity of precious metals as older ones it shouldn't be a target. -
Cat theft on New 2022 NX
ColinBarber replied to JeffL's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I believe the secondary cat is a bit exposed on the RAV4, much like all Toyota/Lexus vehicles. Whether it is a cat or is actually now a GPF would need further investigation. -
IS250 No power but able to start by bypassing. Please help!
ColinBarber replied to ak250's topic in Engine & Transmission
Normally the main 150 Amp or 60 Amp fuses blow because the battery is connected up the wrong way round. If you know you have done that then temporarily bypassing it to check for other faults isn't ideal but might save you having to make two trips to the dealer to get spare parts. But for this to go whilst running then there clearly is a major problem and one that should be investigated rather than bypassing that fuse - there is a risk of fire or wiring damage if the fuse isn't there to protect the vehicle/battery. -
Spot the problem with this RX 400h SE-L
ColinBarber replied to John1971's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Generalising here but the issue is the 400h is a £ 50k vehicle in today's money, and has spare parts and official dealer labour charges to match. When such a vehicle is 15 years old and only worth £ 5k, the majority of 2nd/3rd/4th owners aren't prepared to spend the sort of money required to go beyond just basic repairs. You need to be lucky to find a one or two owner vehicle that has been well looked after - there are a few still out there. But even then you will probably still find corrosion on the underside of a Series II RX. -
Spot the problem with this RX 400h SE-L
ColinBarber replied to John1971's topic in Lexus General Discussions
It's not ideal. On the 400h there is an additional radiator in front of the main engine radiator for the hybrid system that cools the inverter. Whilst there is a lot of over engineered capacity and the UK isn't the warmest country in the world, it could stress the system without the proper airflow and/or use more power because the fans come on more often. Best to avoid this vehicle. -
Is the 12v battery low on charge? Possibly due to interior lights/radio etc. being on whilst working on the vehicle. If the battery charge is good then the best thing would be to disconnect the mirror to eliminate that as a source of the problem. If it's not that then possibly a fuse has blown or it's an unlucky coincidence.

Spot the problem with this RX 400h SE-L
ColinBarber replied to John1971's topic in Lexus General Discussions
It has an RX300/350 front bumper. 400h has round fog lights - that's the easiest way to tell a 400h over a petrol variant from a distance. -
I assume that pic is of the transmission extension rather than of the main rear transmission seal https://lexus.7zap.com/en/eu/lexus+is/242210/gxe10r-aefvkw/2/3303/330954b/#33103R Can't your dealer supply? If not then it looks like autodoc have a replacement for 90311-38032 https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/9031138032

"Bouncing" front wheels on RX450h
ColinBarber replied to Harry the spider's topic in Brakes & Suspension
Michelin Cross Climate 2 would be a good option if available in your size. It's mainly summer tyres that crab when the temperature gets into single digits and they lose their grip. -
Cold weather; I suspect the engine was on most of the time to heat the cabin. You also need to adjust your driving slightly to get the best from a hybrid - accelerate to cruising speed, back off to allow the engine to cut out and then apply throttle to maintain speed without causing the engine to come back on again.
-
In Ready state, whether the engine is running or not, you should expect to see 14.4 v as the battery will be charging. You may not see the full 14.4 v at the battery if it is low on charge though but certainly 13+ v.

Lexus Servicing costs
ColinBarber replied to 61babes's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Plugs are changed at 60k miles only, you don't need to have them changed at 6 years to adhere to the service schedule. Ask your dealer to carry out a 60k service, minus the plugs - which is essentially a 20k mile service. Most dealers seem to put up a fight about this but will give in and admit it is fine - a number of RC F / GS F owners have been in the same position and got the correct outcome in the end. -
Toyota make no mention of one for the Corolla in the UK. It's possible other countries in Europe are fitted with one but not in the UK as it isn't deemed cold enough. Similar to the IS300h when they have active shutters across the front of the radiator, but not in the UK. The UK Lexus UX doesn't have one.

The issue is whilst we call a 6-cell lead acid battery a 12 v battery, each cell is actually 2.1 v so the total battery voltage is 12.6 v. When you measured 11.7 v was there any load, such as side lights on to get a true reading? When you apply a load to the battery, such as turning on the ignition, then that 11.7 v could drop to 10 v and cause the errors you are seeing.

Try one of the following: When "SYSTEM INITIALIZING" is displayed, correct the steering angle neutral point using either of the following methods. METHOD 1 Turn the steering wheel to the right and left fully. METHOD 2 Drive the vehicle at more than 20 km/h (12 mph) for more than 5 minutes on a straight road and with as little traffic congestion as possible. HINT: While driving at a constant vehicle speed, the ECU recognizes the point where the steering angle changes the least and memorizes it as the steering angle neutral point. Stop the vehicle and check whether the neutral point is stored or not. If it is not stored, drive the vehicle some more (the neutral point is stored by driving the vehicle straight).

There is a small risk of a voltage spike if you jump from another vehicle whist its engine is running. For a hybrid, that doesn't need a large energy source to get it going, it is best not to have the vehicle you are jumping from running so all you get is the 12.8 v from the battery - not a 15+ v spike from the alternator.

Replacement key
ColinBarber replied to asingood's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
It depends if the one key is a master - does it unlock the glovebox? If yes then you have a master key and someone who knows what they are doing should be able to program a new key for you - doesn't have to be a dealer. Ideally you want them to deregister all the old missing keys too. -
It doesn't have any type of electrically powered heater, be it PTC, standard resistive, IR, heat pump or any other form. The hybrid battery is too small to accomodate it, and the Toyota hybrid system was never designed for it. The older Prius vehicles in some markets had a large thermos where the coolant is transferred to and stored when the vehicle is turned off. It keeps it warm for 12+ hours but that wasn't available in the UK nor ported over to any Lexus models. These days the coolant is heated by the exhaust system as well as the conventional way to get both the engine and cabin up to temperature as quickly as possible - The gen 4 Prius, UX and ES get up to temperature, and allow EV running, noticeably faster than older hybrids, but you still see a noticeable drop in economy when the weather is cold.

Thanks, I knew it was didn't have it on release and was added at one of the updates, but seems not the main one 👍
