Do you know who makes the oil that comes in the Toyota bottles? I know all OEM oil is made by one of the big oil firms - but I'm a believer in quality being better when done under the supervision of a manufacturer in general.  I thought that the EU market supplied Toyota oil would be a different partnership from whoever makes it for the US and other markets 'Toyota' bottle oils

Possibly it is a different OEM, or just a different local refinery of the same OEM, either way it should be to the same Toyota standard.

Toyota heavily use Exxon Mobil, certainly in the US market, but the oil would be different to a bottle of Mobil 1 - different additives would be used.

Regards EV speeds, I was the person above who said that the NX 350h would see over 60mph on EV and I certainly stand by that having had a couple on loan. However, that's not pressing the EV button but letting the car do what it wants, mainly when not accelerating and at constant speed / coasting it will definitely enter EV mode for periods of time then

Yes, there is a big difference between EV drive mode and the vehicle just being in EV mode.

When my car was 3 years old i looked at extending the warranty, they wanted £1800 a year as the 2 for 1 offer was not available on the LC, even if it was this was still £900 a year, so the free warranty when having the car serviced at Lexus so for me is a no brainer.

The paid for extended warranty covered more items though - e.g. shocks (although they wouldn't replace at a misting stage, only if it got to the point of being an MOT failure).

  4. The engine in the CT had a revision in 2014/15 to stop carbon build up on the piston rings which could ultimately lead to oil consumption and engine damage. I'd therefore state for your vehicle that the standard 10k/12 month service interval is fine, provided you use quality oil, but no harm in changing more frequently (other than environmental).

Toyota/Lexus use the same oil in the US, it is just that the market there expects more frequent oil changes (or more precisely, there isn't the same pressure to extend the services intervals as there is in Europe).

Yes it actually seems like base audio in this one, not even premium. Harder to tell in facelift, because they all got track pad thing.

I think the facelift RC only had the standard fit stereo.

The facelift ditched the base audio - they all get premium 10 speaker Pioneer audio system with track pad and premium nav.

Or the upgraded 17 speaker ML system with the Takumi grade/pack.

  6. Welcome Alex. I've moved your message from the new members forum to the relevant IS one so that it will get more eyeballs from ISC owners.

Commonly the micro switches fail which are a cheap fix if you can repair yourself but other issues can occur and can be expensive to fix. Personally I'd stay away, certainly as you have been warned!

Take a look here as an example of previous posts on the subject:

As you say, slightly odd as I have the screen on to monitor the use of AWD, and its concerning how often the car relies on it. Assume that cant be great for fuel consumption too

It uses AWD for stability, performance and economy. The fact that it is using both motors rather than the engine means it is more efficient.

I'd recommend you ask your dealer to take out another 450h+ for a quick test drive so you can understand if it is a problem with just your vehicle. Certainly no one else has posted a similar experience to yourself on these forums.

I assume it should be the same with the 500H ?

It will be fine. The rear motor is more powerful than your current RX so it has better distribution of power if needed.

It would be worth test driving the 500h, it will drive differently to what you a use to given that is has an auto transmission rather than a CVT.

I can't help but think that if the thieves targeted RXs on dealership 4 courts, of which I counted at least 10 last week on one of my local ones, maybe Lexus would move faster with all their profits going down the drain and their insurance rocketing.  Not suggesting anything here, just a hope that on the off chance thieves might consider the same thing.

Some dealers have been targeted, but most have bollards in place at night to stop vehicles being stolen.

Even so, those vehicles are owned by the franchisee not Toyota GB so I'm not sure it would have much immediate impact.

  10. If there is a leak then the fault codes are fully understandable and expected. If the system cannot get to the desired pressure within a set time (because there is a leak) then it will produce an error and the fluid level will drop.

Fix the leak, clear the errors and everything should be good.

The press release says that the UX can be fitted with the enhanced security feature, and further on that they anticipate being able to advise the Lexus Centre network with full details before the end of April 2024.

As it is now July, it seems reasonable to ask our dealers.

Lexus UK removed the April 2024 date from their press release. They still don't have the solution communicated to their dealers so whilst you can speak to your dealer they won't be able to assist you. You will need to speak to Lexus CR (not that they will be able to help either, other than stating the solution isn't available yet) - or just post on their website where they continue to state they will update 'soon'.

Is the 2017/11 the date of the actual facelift i.e. that had different headlights? In which case maybe 2017/03 is the LSS+ update?

    I'm confusing myself now.

The facelift was 2018/10. The 2017 upgrade was LSS+ and a few other things, along with changes to the CAN buses. Until the facelift I'm not sure all models are affected (i.e. the ones with single projector headlights may not be).
