Stone Chips: What's the options?
wendle replied to Bluethunder's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Depending on were about's it is on the bumper you may be able to get a smart repair done £150 ish. as for the bonnet there is not a lot you can do other than a full respray, most, if not all smart repair companies won't undertake a smart repair on a bonnet or any other large area, and a ceramic coating won't hide the stone chip, in fact ceramic coating is not designed to stop stone chips, other than Paint protection film, nothing will stop a stone traveling at 100mph from a car or lorry in front of you chipping your paint. -
I use Shell V power, no particular reason, i know its more expensive but then i only fill my car up 8 times a year

Security System Advice for Nx300h
wendle replied to RajWJFWJK's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
The problem with a tracker is that your car has already been stolen, yes your probably get it back , but in what state I have a Ghost ll fitted on mine which means the car shouldn't be stolen in the first place. -
1..normally between 10 - 15% depending if your dealership has signed up( check the gold membership page to see ) 2....that should be the total cost, but they may ask you if you want any extras done, which would be up to you to decide ( for example, brake fluid change ) 3.... they charge extra for a map update but should include a software update that may fix you issue. 4...yes plus what others have mentioned your get a free years warranty, which will give you piece of mind

Hybrid fans running constantly, is this correct?
wendle replied to Brian R's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
Interesting that when you turned the climate concierge off, the noise stopped, my question would be, why was the concierge system allowing the heating / cooling fans to run ALL the time, not sure what settings you had, but once the temperature you have set is reached the concierge system should turn off and only come back on if the temperature in the car goes around 5 degrees higher or lower than the temperature you have set, did you have it set on Auto. -
Yes Taxed and insured, i put myself as a named driver and used the car every now and then, if she hadn't had a car when she came home it would have meant a lot of taxi rides, or me running her around everywhere, and as i said she has now got 3 years no clams bonus so in a couple of years time when she buys a better car her insurance won't be sky high.

My Daughter had the same problem, her car sat here for 3 years, she only used it a few time a year when she came home, clocked up 500 miles in 3 years, at least she clocked up 3 years no claim bonus as well

Fuel filler cap sticking - emergency release
wendle replied to EddieCD's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
If the fuel flap sticks take it to Lexus and they will replace it, even if the car is out of warranty. -
yes i wouldn't say no, although i am not keen on the Tattoos

When you open the passenger door you have a piece of trim next to the glove box, i think it just snaps off, behind it is a fuse box, if you connect it into that box using the correct connections you do have to leave the fuse box cover off, you can't see it when you put the trim back. i didn't fit it so i can't help of which fuse it is connected to Hear you go , have a look here

It looks like there service costs have gone up, i am sure a full service for my LC last year was £595 and now its £655. it will also encourage customers with older cars to keep having them serviced at a Lexus dealership rather than a independent garage, you read so much on this forum about people asking for a Lexus specialists garage recommendations for getting work done on there cars rather than paying the dealership prices. I remember a few years ago talking to Quinton Willson who I believe at the time owned a car warranty company, he's may still do so, I asked him what % of clams he had on Lexus cars, his reply was around 5%.

60k / 6 year service queries please
wendle replied to paulrnx's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Sorry but i can answer most of your questions, only have a opinion. 1. so far i haven't owned a Lexus over 5 years old, yet, so don't know much about the essential service, only that my brother in law has used it on his 12 year old IS 250 for the past 7 years. 2. I would ask the same question, my car will have done around 14k miles by the time it gets to its 6 year service. I think it would depend on how long you intend to keep the car, most potential Lexus buyers would look for a full Lexus service, but if your going to keep it for a long time then i would go for a independent garage and ask them to replace what you consider to need replacing, my run around car has its oil & filter changed every 18 months, and a full service every 4 years, it only does 1.5k miles a year. -
Sounds like something may not be quite right, when i play music from a USB and the volume is turned up to 35 you can see the interior mirror vibrating, have you sat in the back to determine that the sub is working ok?
-
I had mine wrapped to prevent the scratching. It does give a different appearance which some people may or may not like.
-
I really think it depends on what you are looking for. there are not many around, so if your looking for a particular colour and interior you may have a long wait, if this is the colour combination and model you want its got low millage, and a reasonable price, see if it comes with a years warranty, if so then there won't be any difference from buying one from a Lexus dealership.

I didn't find any change in brake feel when they changed mine , but don't get your hopes up, mine are back squealing again.
-
I assume so I didn’t have to pay anything, I just told them that it was a free in the US, I didn’t know if that made any difference, if your a good customer I think they will replace them free if you Moan enough
-
I had my pads replaced by the dealership because of excessive break squeal, the replacement pads have a extra slot in them apparantly, but after 1500 mile the squeal is back

Wheel brushes, these are really good, but not cheap https://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/wheel-woolies/original-wheel-woolies-3-piece-b-kit.asp x

I don't know about the others on this site but personally that silicon drying blade is giving my the gitters, sorry but i would never use one of these, even the slightest bit of muck under the blade will scratch the paintwork, a drying towel is much better as it will lift the muck away from the surface. other than that you are ready to go.

I haven't cleaned the car yet since its been coated, i was advised to leave it a few days to make sure the coating has completely hardened, so will have a go on Wednesday. I use Gtechniq W6 Iron fall out remover on the wheels, spray it on, leave for max 10 mins, don't let it completely dry, stinks like hell, so use it in a well ventilated place, jet wash off, done, normally no scrubbing needed, come up as new, saying that they told me that with this coating soapy water would be just as good but would require some brush work, they did say that the W6 would not harm the coating

Sorry i missed read your post concerning the age of your car, although will still depend on how the car has been washed and looked after on how much preparation work will be needed. Its interesting that they give a cost for different protection levels but don't mention any price difference for the size of the car, i can't see then charging the same price for a Fiat 500 compared to a Land Rover, so that may need some clarification. Cristal Serum Ultra has a 9 year protection. that would have been £900 for my car, but of course it depends on how long you intend to keep the car, i also had two coats of Exov4 on top ( £200 extra with coating done at the same time or £250 at any other time , it has 18 months protection ) this was my preference, Exov4 has good hydrophobic properties ( you can see it in action on you tube ) especially if you use filtered water for your final rinse, with a open hose there will be very little water left on the car so would only need very little use of a drying towel or air blower, and as we all know the less contact with the paint work the better. they don't mention about the wheels so if you want them done there may be a possible extra charge , I had the wheels removed and the inside and outside were coated.
