  1. mine is going in for its 60k mile , 6 year service in September, they will probable offer me a new engine as a add on, ill probably decline. lol will be interesting to see how much the 6 year old service will be, they don't seem to take any consideration on the millage the car has covered, which will be less than 12k
  2. At my last service, September 2021, they told my i needed new tyres, 8500 miles, when i questioned them about it they told me that i had ware on the inside edge on all 4 tyres and had around 2mm left, although the rest of the tyres on all 4 wheels had around 4/5 mm, Odd as two days before it had passed its MOT with no advisories. When i looked its just the very inside edge similar to the outside edge which i doubt has much more than 3mm on them when new. i put this down to driving over square speed humps of which i have loads in my area. i will have to see what happens on the MOT this September.
  3. that's what is offered here in the UK, but i don't know about other parts of the world the UK basic warranty period is 3 years or 60k miles, its only over the past year than Lexus UK have offered this added warranty.
  4. No real problems i can report. there has been a fuel pump re call, which i am sure the car your looking at has already been done if needed. also sticking fuel cap, squealing brakes, they did change mine under warranty but sometimes still make a noise, i clean mine regally with iron remover and that seems to help. Iam sure your going to have it serviced through a Lexus dealership so your be covered under warranty for 10 years or 100000 miles All 4 tyres are wearing on the inside edge on mine so something you may want to have a quick look at, i have put it down to traveling over the square speed bumps of which there are hundreds in my area. Good luck, iam sure your love it.
  5. yes research is key, how's the NX going Malcolm, its on my retirement list in around 18 months time the LC will be completely in practicable for my retirement needs, , any issues or regrets? ,
  6. you can generally get all types of insurance cheeper through a third party than the main dealers (Gap, tyre, wheel, small dents and scratches ) but my advice would to be read and compare the small print,
  7. there isn't, the cars are stolen to order from abroad, within 2 hours of your car missing it has probably already left the country There are professional thieves who rob houses but you don't leave your front door open
  8. stolen to order by professional thieves which is why i feel a staring lock would not be adequate.
  9. Agree party in what you have said cars are stolen for various reasons, from the guys who have just come out of a pub and don’t want to walk home to the cars stolen by professionals to order. so I think it would depend on who you are trying to protect you car from. Iam not saying a professional gang can’t get round the most advanced system available, but if they can remove a CAT from a car in seconds then a steering lock is not going to be a problem
  10. i have the Ghost fitted, touch wood i haven't had any issues over the past 3 years so i can't comment on the customer support side of things, only that the guy who fitted it spent a long time telling and showing me how it all worked, he also rang me a week later to make sure i was happy with everything.
  11. Protective film is not fitted by Lexus as standard, your probably looking at around 5k if the compete car is done properly. There its such thing as Anti chip paint, in fact Lexus has one of the softest paints going, you will get stone chips They do have self healing paint , if you have a light scratch and poor warm water on it, or leave the car out in the sun it car reduce or in some instances completely remove them.
  12. Ghost immobilisers are not easy to find, they are as big as a stick of chewing gum, they are normally fitted inside any part of the the wiring loom, not just under the bonnet, they carefully unwrap the tape surrounding the main loom, wire in the Ghost, slide the unit into the loom and re rap it, if its done right it is as near as impossible to find.
  13. I have the same problem with the LC, front and back I find this tool very handy,
  14. when i made enquires about having the 21" wheel repaired there was only a couple of places in the country that could do them, at the time ( 2 years ago ) it was £175 for a smart repair that was not noticeable from 1meter away, or a full refurb at £750. in both cases the wheel had to be sent to them, the turn around time was 5/6 days for the smart repair and 9/10 days for the complete refurb.
  15. Lol, a bit different with Drum breaks. discs are out in the elements so get covered in water anyway,
  16. I didn't notice any difference when they changed mine, although i may not be the best person to compare with as i am not a harsh breaker. by the way they still squeal even after replacement, possibly not so much, i use iron remover and jet wash them each week and that seems to help
  17. sorry i would have come , but on Holiday
  18. I think your dealership representative got confused with Sat Nav updates, and software up dates, your now have to pay for sat nav map updates, but not for software updates.
  19. Years ago It used to be a £1000 extra, but these days it just seem to go on the model and you can’t seem to add it as an extra personally I reckon they will offer a couple of free services or something like that rather than cash
  20. Anything is possible, I bet it will cost a bit though, new head unit, speakers and amp, because of the cost I recon they will say it’s not possible and offer you some sort of compensation
  21. what happens when you bring up your tyre pressure on the display, does it show any of the tyres low?
  22. Thanks Ken, I haven’t got one yet, but it’s on my retirement list, I may look at the RZ, but I am not totally confident in the charging info structure yet even though I would only need over 200 miles 4/5 times a year
  23. Thanks Ken, that's interesting to know, was this just normal driving around, i was thinking to possibly use on a motorway when traveling at 70mph, however it may not make any difference to your result not knowing exactly how the charging system works
  24. Lexus did put out a email to all Hybrid owners during lockdown/Covid, suggesting you put the ignition on, wait until the Green "READY" light comes on and leave it a hour and to do this once a week if the car is not used.
