  1. I know you can't keep up with technology, what ever you buy in 3 months its out of date, but i think battery technology it at its very early stage, at the moment i am comparing it to betamax and vhs, Toyota have already produced a new solid state battery which the claim will nearly double the electric range,
  2. The NX, but only because at retirement and change of circumstances the LC would be completely un practicable.
  3. Think Your very lucky, 20 years ago you wouldn't have fitted a Mars bar in that gap.😀
  4. No problems here with carbon fibre roof, the car is not garaged, but has been ceramic coated from new. I don't think the UK gets the same strong sun UV as some other countries who are reporting problems.
  5. Looks good, which coating did they apply? I have had a couple of older white cars in the past, they never seem to look that good once cleaned, probably the new paint shows a lot better.
  6. I was surprised when i had my Ghost fitter it didn't come with any stickers, you would have thought it would have been good advertising for the company as well as a visual deterrent for you.
  7. Looks like this would be the same as completely disconnecting your battery, so i would be concerned about, Radio settings, Cars Alarm system, including glass breaking sensors, tilt sensors, Dash cam movement recording, personal programable settings, ECU learning, mirror, seat, steering wheel settings. even if you just spend 10 mins changing a car battery you lose some of this settings, but disconnecting the battery for hour's , and possibly day's, iam not sure, he mentions the car is completely dead so its not just taking the power from the starting procedure, and what about Hybrid systems, i would have to do a lot of research before considering fitting this.
  8. Plus you get a years warranty, which under the old scheme was £1200 a year for my car which wasn't included in the 2 for 1
  9. It doesn't matter how few miles you have done, it will go on the age of the car, Minor and Major services, my car is 6 years old and is booked in for its 6 year / 60k service £770 with 10,800 miles. The only thing i have noticed is that a few years age the used to add a premium for the 6 year / 60k service because of the spark plug change, i think they have just upped the cost of all the other services to compensate for this. Mention you are a member of this form and you might get a discount 10% / 15%
  10. I have just spoken to someone quite high-up at Lexus He has told me that things have improved quite a lot concerning delivery time, he said that if i was to order a NX350h or NX450h+ now it would arrive by December 23, my local dealership ( Sidcup has a 350h and 450h+ available to buy now ) Apparently Lexus have ramped up production of the NX and have spent the last few months stocking up and sorting parts.
  11. Its only really loud when it first starts up from cold, or it you take it over 3000 rev's, i find that a lot of the USA owners have found a way of keeping the exhaust valve's open all the time which will make the car sound louder all the time, the same as if you put it in sports or sport + mode. to be honest other than the slight exhaust ( V8 ) burble on tick over its pretty quiet.
  12. I had the same problem with my LC back in 2017, they need a car to play with to make it work, i let them have my LC, 4 hours later they got it to work, haven't had any problems since.
  13. I can recommend Marvin at WOW Factors in Orpington, ( you can see my car being done on there face book page, but as mentioned your be looking at around £1K.
  14. In my onion NO, the ceramic coating that the dealership use is just a standard coating that you can actually buy of the shelf and apply your self, its not that difficult to do, any high quality, long lasting coating can only be applied by a qualified detailer in the use and application of each make of product. Also remember any coating you apply has to be looked after otherwise your just waisting your money, you will need to use the correct washing / drying products and equipment, if your someone who takes your car to a car wash or even a hand carwash at your local supermarket then its not worth paying out for a ceramic coating
  15. I think all Lexus dealerships charge the same for servicing, as stated above some will give a discount, i personally think that with the introduction of the free warranty that the service cost is reasonable, even my LC at £700 for a major service, before the free warranty is was £1200 just to extend the warranty for 1 year.
  16. t would be interesting to find out if the Ghost immobiliser car stop thieves steeling your car, taking into account the way they are now steeling them now, plugging something in behind the front wheel arch.
  17. You used to be able to go in a store and buy a 3 piece suit for no more that a weeks delivery , now you have to wait at least 3/4 months, unfortunately the same now applies to cars, we are not used to having to plan a long way ahead for cars, i don't see things changing for some time, in September i am going to put in a order for a NX, I don't want it till April 2025, I have been assured that once ordered if change my mind, or my circumstances change i don't have to take the car and my deposit will be returned.
  18. I agree with Ron, i don't understand why anyone would spend out hundreds of pounds on a device which will help you find your car once it has already been stolen. Most immobiliser companies offer you a certificate which you can get a discount with some insurers, in fact i am sure i have seen a dropdown box on a online Insurance quote under " which immobiliser have you got fitted " and the Ghost one was listed, however in my experience the insurance companies that offer a discount are more expensive in the first place
  19. I have had a Ghost fitted from new, 2017, i haven't had any problems, if it will stop the latest way's cars are now stolen i don't know, something you would have to look into.
  20. Sorry to read about this....But, and this is not aimed at you personally , but everyone who owns a car It really annoys me when thieves are getting away with other peoples cars, people are quite happy to spend £5 a week on star bucks coffee but not on protecting the second more expensive thing they own. NO keys in a protective pouch, No added immobiliser, No type of added steering lock. we read every day of car's with remote key access being stolen by thieves picking up the signal from your key's as for breaking into a house, i find this very unlikely, and again if you really think this is a possibility you may as well leave the key in the ignition
  21. i enquired about rubber mats when i got mine but was told they didn't do them, I have had the car 5,1/2 years now and the original mats have not worn much and clean up very well, although i have only done 9k miles. i would say they would last a good 3 years under normal use, then just get a new set
  22. I had a MK3,GS 450h & MK4,GS450h f sport, i only do 4 miles each way to work and around 3k miles a year. i only had a problem once when the engine would not stop running, even when stationary, i took it to the dealership and they told me to do a 25mile run down the motorway, i never had any more problems. I loved the 450h, one of the best cars i have ever owned.
  23. Yes I have noticed the sudden increase, like you I only do around 2k a year, it’s in for its 6year service in September, I believe this is a spark plug change so even more expensive although I can’t find this cost on there website. I suppose the only thing is that your getting a free years warranty which I believe would have been around £700 on the RCF.
  24. Yes i also noticed that they no longer advertise the cost of the 60k service, iam sure its more, i think they also offer to change the break fluid, also at a extra cost, ill see what they say and let you know, this is the first Lexus i have kept for longer than 3 years so i will have to expect the extra cost of things like Pads, discs, tyres etc.
  25. iam not sure if i am making this up but i am sure i read somewhere its £200 on top of the service for the plugs.
