  1. The only problem with leaving it in sports mode to walm it up in half the time is that it will only then take you half the time to get to your destination.lol i live in the south east, kent
  2. i think you no all the answers, you own a Lexus, i really don't think you would notice the weight difference under normal driving conditions unless of course your one of the 1% of Lexus owners who track there cars. you have a choice you can own a luxury chesterfield field sofa or go to dfs.
  3. OK dont quote me on this but the last time i was at the dealership there was talk off 3.8 ltr hybrid.................around 85k 5ltr V8 ( as in RC-F ).... around 100k 5ltr V 8 twin turbo.........around 130k

  5. i have had the car 10 months now, and allthough i do love it, its really not me, i have never had a powerful car, it has never really interested me so i tend to drive it around like an old granny.lol. my last Lexus was a GS450h f sport which is more me, more of a luxury sedan, it looked quite plain but was a bit of a sheep in wolf's clothing and if need be went pretty quick. the RC-F has quite a harsh ride compared to every other car i have had , but i did no that before i brought it and have kind of got use to it, there are only real two things i would change, firstly the heated and cooled seats are not anywhere as good as in the GS, but the seats are very comfortably, secondly it takes ages for the oil and transmission temperature to reach normal and have the use of the 7200 rev's, ( not that i use 7200 rev's) in this cool weather it takes a good 10/15 mins driving before its really ready to fly, i think the oil and transmission coolers in the front should have had flaps protecting them that could automatically open if the temperature got to hot. so it sounds like i have got the wrong car , may be, but as i said i love it and have no desire to change it.
  6. i haven't had any issues with the transmission although i tend just to leave it in auto, i dont use manual mode much, as for m.p.g i tend to do a lot of short trips 5/7 miles and get around 18mpg, on a 25 mile trip consisting of 40% duel carriageway 60% town driving it went up to 21 mpg, on a 120 mile round trip mostly motorway 70 / 80 mph i got it up to 31 m.p.g
  7. Lexus woodford looks like they are getting a 2009 in shortly, a bit more than the 2008 your looking at but very low millage
  8. All Lexus F Sport/F wheels are sent away. Have you ever used the wheel insurance? Only twice, that was on a GS 450h, as they can be repaired they sent a guy round to my house to fix it, no problem or hassle, he did a very good job of matching the colour, you couldn't see the repair, the second time i slid in the snow and took a chunk out of the wheel and blew the tyre, i took that one to the dealership, i cant remember if they had the wheel repaired or replaced it with a new one, i also got a new tyre under the insurance. i must admit over the years i have probably paid out more then i have claimed for, but i didn't want to take any chances with the wheels and tyres on this car. i think it depends on the type of parking you do, 95% of my parking is down a drive or car parking space, very rarely do i have to park next to the curb. Is it similiar to Audi wheel and tyre insurance where they change the tyre if tread is too low? Or just if damaged? they change the tyre if it is damaged due to hitting the curb or pot hole or if you get a puncher that can't be repaired due to the position of the puncher.

  10. perhaps consider wheel and tyre insurance, i have taken it out on every new Lexus i have owned, i don't think its bad value at around £400 for 3 years. even more so on the RC-F as it has machined wheels that need to be sent away for repair.
  11. Hi Steve, not on the road, but down my drive :-)
  12. Tom fist one was a MK2 The last two were both MK3's
  13. Hi Tom I owned Three GS 300’s and didn’t come across any miss firing problems with any of them, the first one was 4 years old when I got it, I had it for 2 years with a total of 52k miles on the clock, the second one was 1 year old and I kept that one for 3 years, total 26k miles, the third one was new, kept that for 3 years only 12k miles on the clock
  14. I thought I had lost a key to my RCF, I was told by the parts department it would be £60 for the key and £120 to re program it, although when I spoke to my sales guy he said don’t worry about the re programing he would sort that out, so it probably depends on your relationship with the dealership on how much it would cost. As it happens I found the key.
  15. interesting read Geoff, the video would also be interesting to watch, i would like to no how they changed your oil in they didn't rase the ramp, unless they sucked it out, but i don't think a reputable garage would do that. mines going in in the next 2 months for its first year 10k service with only 3.5k on the clock so they probably won't even open the bonnet.
  16. if you book in your car for first thing in the morning as they open i would think around 2 hours
  17. Hi James and welcome to the club, good choice and iam sure you wont be needing your maintenance skills.
  18. mmmmmm
  19. NO not according to the latest 5th gear fuel test. well not unless you intend to through it round a track
  20. looks like BMW may have needed £12k worth of extras to keep up with the Rc-F

  22. Hi Harry i haven't go a IS myself so not sure what the black protective strip looks like, you may have to ask the dealer, i would think if its just stuck on it can be removed.
  23. Hi Harry You could try ( that is if you already haven’t ) Adjusting tyre pressures to the right pressure then pressing the TPMS re set button. Steaming up seems to be a problem with most cars, try leaving the A/C on with the switch in outside air circulating mode.
  24. thats interesting i went to the dealership today and they told me you wouldn't get much change from £80k for the GS-F, will see next month when they arrive at the dealerships. Ill be honest, your dealer needs sacking if he doesnt know the price of the GS-F yet - its been out for almost 2 weeks! Its £69995 only options being paint, ML, sunroof and orange calipers. However, I would like to point out that he needs sacking for his obscure psychological tactics and not for not knowing the price - common crap amongst Audi and BMW dealers is to tell you an over inflated price before launch to make the customer feel that the price is better than expected and therefore a good deal. What a good salesman would do is A - either find out the price or say B - itll be released at launch. Yes sorry I should have been clearer with the costing by the dealership. This was a personalised costing which was to include Sun roof, ML, paint, coloured callipers, tyre and wheel ins, gap ins, car mats, boot liner, and new car protection by my local detailer. So it was only a ball park figure by the dealership Looking for a change already? No Stu, just iterrested to see what the price came out at, i only need 2 doors so i am happy with mine it does what i want it to do, as i am not interested in the GS-F i haven't kept up with it so didn't no the price for the UK had been released, i will have a go in one when mine goes in for a service next year,
