Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to stop them trying to steel it and causing damage to your car, the only thing you can do is make it less of a attraction, but the problem is there are not like the thieves of years back were all they wanted was a joy ride, its a business now and until something is done to make the business unattractive this will not stop.

I had mine fitted last month, it’s all working fine, but I agree they are a waste of time, but it was free. I am not sure you can do anything to stop the attempted theft of any car, so damage will always be done

Warranty Void?? - Ghost2 immobiliser, S5 tracker & R700 LTE
wendle replied to zoo's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
I have had a Ghost fitted for the past 7 years, My Lexus dealership are aware of this and have never told me that it would be a issue with any warranty claim, the Tracker is fitted by Lexus themselves so they then can't refuse any warranty claim you may have because of what they have fitted. -
-
I rang the tracker company and they sent me a email while I was on the phone which gave me the registration number, I think the token number was a bar code which was on the information that the dealership gave me

I have just had a Tracker fitted to my car by Lexus, I dont know which one it is but i can use the app to find my car, it brings the location up on Google maps. i can also look at previous trips the car has made
-
I had mine fitted a few days ago, only because it was free, i personal don't se the point of them, when there are products out there which will stop 95% of thieves stealing the car in the first place, my Ghost stoped them taking mine, ok if and when they can bypass the Ghost then a tracker my then be worth it, until of course they can also bypass the tracker.

I have had a ghost fitted on my car for 7 years and Lexus have never mentioned that it would invalidate the warranty -

Put the ghost into transport mode which disables the ghost completely, then see what happens -
What ever you put on the car your going tom have to take off and this would concern me a little, its not there now but i used to go to Ultimate Finish at brans hatch, they had some classic cars under covers, they were made of silk.

Agree with above, curbing wheels is a worry, local smart repair is possible but not 100% perfect, a full proper repair is expencive and takes around 5 days. Parking is the main issue with the big wide doors, try to pick a space were you can easily open the door. I have had mine coming up to 7 years now, admittedly with low use, millage, but no real problems other than the re calls, fuel pump, fuel flap. great car and it will be a sad day when i have to let it go. ( the car not being practicable for my retirement use )

Lexus canbus theft solution for the LC is here... maybe...
wendle replied to eightk's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
Total agree, the bottom line is that if they attempt to steel your car you will still have the damage and repair cost, it doest matter what type of security you have, you could remove the engine, unless the thieves know they can't steel your car they are going to attempt to, and at the moment most Lexus models can be stolen and the thieves know this, yes a ghost will stop them from driving it away, yes a tracker means you can find your car once it has been stolen, but as i said the damage and cost to the owner is the same, and in fact is you have a tracker and they do take your car the possibility of more damage being done to you car is much higher. i have a ghost fitted on mine which stoped them from taking the car, it would be better for me to leave the keys on a hook out side my house with a note saying " please use the keys provided to attempt to steel this car, when you have finished please replace the keys on the hook, thank you", this may seem a ridicules thing to do , but they won't get the car due to the Ghost and no damage will be done, that will save me £4000 damage and in my case £1200 excess on my insurance. -
Servicing cost question
wendle replied to fbrj's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Remember most Lexus dealerships will give a 10% / 15% discount on servicing if your a Lexus owners club member. MOT, £25 at ATS with Groupon plus £2 of if you use a cash back site ( £23 ), I have taken both my cars there for the past 4 years, very honest MOT, even my 19 year old Nissan has passed every year. -
£890 last year with £1200 excess, same company wanted £1550 this year comparison site got this year £666 with £600 excess ( Admiral )

Ghost 2 immobiliser, not yet!
wendle replied to WhiteHart's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
This is there official site......https://www.autowatch.co.uk.....tel 01732886777 When i had mine fitted there had not yet programmed the Ghost to work on a LC, because they couldn't get there hands on one for long enough to play with, Lexus wouldn't free one up for them, they normally have a new model car for a day or so to program the system to work. I was having a Dash can fitted by a independent auto electrician, and he and I agreed that the team from Autowatch could use my car and see if they could get the Ghost to work, they had the car for 6 hours. the ghost has now been on the car and worked faultlessly ever since. I would contact them, i am sure they have a list of installers, its important the system is installed correctly so it is verbally impossible to find. -
OK Thats bad, did the previous owner or do you live by the sea?

surly anything metal will go rusty, my discs go rusty 30 mins after i have cleaned the car

I personally dont understand the purpose of a tracker other than being able to retrieve your car once it has already been stolen, the same damage to your car has already been done, surely fitting a better security device would be a better idea so the car can't be stolen in the first place, i understand the damage will still be there but at least you dont have to go and retrieve your car that may have been miss treated and less lightly of any further damage done to the car as it has not been driven away to some secluded place were they can spend some time doing further damage.
-
I personally think that Lexus service coast are quite reasonable compared to other manufactures, I also think that potential buyers of high end cars will be looking for a full Lexus service history i know i would. When my car was 3 years old i looked at extending the warranty, they wanted £1800 a year as the 2 for 1 offer was not available on the LC, even if it was this was still £900 a year, so the free warranty when having the car serviced at Lexus so for me is a no brainer.

£520 up to 5 years old then £180 from the 6th year But i am sure the Labour government will have plans to up this
-
I think the overall output is more with the ML system my friend has a RX with the standard system and at normal volume i couldn't tell the difference, possibly a little less base. its only when you crank it up the ML comes into its own. My LC will probable be up for sale April/ May next year.

The wheels are placed in a vibrating drum full of ball bearings and polishing liquid for 3 days, this completely removes all the black paint and polishes the whole wheel to a chrome Finnish, its then masked up and the black paint applied, then a final lacquer, i was told they would need the wheel for 10 days and this was for 1 wheel.

I would like to think that if anything major went wrong at only 18K miles Lexus would fix it for free, unless it is a wearing part of course but then warrantees wouldn't cover that anyway.
