  1. hi Tim,

u can order a barrel only from the dealer around £70 - 80 i think or a new lock set for about £140 changing all the locks is easy apart from the drivers door which takes some time.

to remove the barrel is simple as u would have read. let me know if u need some advice.

    Hi Rob

I managed to sort it, well its worked at the moment.........

I used the gentle hammer taps and the WD40 and its free and working ok, if it does become a pain again I'll see about replacing it for a new one but with Christmas n all at the moment I hope it will last

Thanks for you posts Rob, its with that knowledge that I knew there was another way other than off to the main dealer to pay through the nose.... LOL

    Cheers

  2. no worries. think theres some threads already on here but im useless with computers! try a search tho for sure.

Hi I've been all over checking this out, of to the US IS site and ended back here LOL and I found another of Rob's posts about using WD40 and a gentle tap.

So I think I'll give this a go tomorrow and see how I get on.

If not I'll pull the barrel out and see if I can do anything with that.

I am also looking for a sport grill are there any in the classifieds section??.

I can see a full membership coming on soon......

I used to have a sport pack on my IS that I broke and I watched them drag it away off my drive :crybaby:

I really could do with a few parts to make the new one feel like mine.

  3. i used lexus but it has been said on here that there are specialists about that can help out.

i had both keys also but no codes. ya may be ok hopefully. i waited 2 days for delivery of barrel. checked my key in the barrel when i picked it up but didnt work thats how i knew the locks had been changed at some point and couldnt trace where. lexus said they couldnt make a barrel to a key so hence new lock set. barrel was about 35ish and lock kit 180ish. kit includes 3 new keys.

Thanks for your advice I best start looking for a locks company if all else fails I'll goto Lexus but I will try the cheaper option first

    Thanks

  4. had same problem a while back- defo new ignition barrel- quite common apparently. hope ya have original keys. my locks had been changed with no records kept- had to buy complete lock kit rather than just a barrel. on the bright side tho was a doddle to fit as you'll see.

I think I have orig key's both have boot lock on them. If that means anything and the numbers too

who do I approach for a new barrel. A Lexus main dealer ?

  5. Hi and good evening

Well I got my new IS in the end after loosing our sapphire blue one joining the M40

We got a 99 Astral Black, Black leather n suede interior and Nav Pack with 75K

My partner Jacki and I have had it about 5 weeks but every day since its either been raining or I've been at work so its still due some TLC. Well today Jacki went to take out the car, and tried to start it but the ignition barrel will not turn its as if the key's are incorrect or the steering lock was jammed on ??

Well I spent this evening from 3pm this afternoon trying numerous ways of teasing it into turning, with combinations of jigaling the steering wheel and the key in the barrel and jacking up the car at the front to take the weight off maybe assisting its release but nothing the key will not turn in the barrel !!! I have ensured its fully in, and tried to my witts end

Have any of you good LOC members out there any ideas ??? Please

    Regards

    TimM

  6. This must be catching, mine had a ding early Sunday morning,

new bonnet + a bumper respray.. oh bugger !

Even the smallest crunch and bump is gutting......

I know these would'nt have helped you, as its front end, but for doors n sides :-

"We prev had a nice shopper in tesco's push our rear passenger door in to a cost of 800 notes or so"

I brought some things called "door defendres" not sure about the spelling but from Canada,

and they worked a treat on the sides of your car....... they were on magnetic strips and foam bars, they stopped any bumps n bangs which worked well till I totaled the whole car.... SOB SOB :duh:

  7. if you dont mind i asking...

how much did they pay out?

Well I would'nt mind telling you............... and I will if they ever look at the bloomin thing I would have :tsktsk:

I was told its been written off and just waiting for the engineers report/ price...........

Today I was told that it had not been looked at they got it confused, "the enginers gone on holliday and he missed yours but he looked at the rest and a bloke by the name of Andy will looking at yours tomorrow" :tsktsk:

Cheers "NIG" so back to square one !!! .... (PS ..." NIG" is the insurance company)

I will keep you posted as to what comes out hopfully sooner rather than later.................... :whistling:

  9. Did/could you of possibly by accident switched off the T/C?

I thought i remembered a recall of the early IS's for something but cant think what is was for.

I remembered seeing the TC light on the dash after the crash, I think it was flashing

    and it was still active

    excuse the plate showing

but i dont think the car nor plate is fit for thieves to use in "petrol runs" or ram raids as it no longer goes very well LOL

  11. Sorry to hear that pal, glad to hear you were ok, i have spoken with my m8 who works for lexus and nos of no known recalls etc

I know a nice Y plate sport for sale if you need a new one ;)

    cool thanks for checking

We've spotted a gorge IS on flea bay for 5,1 with 40K in black so are checking it out

I'll have to wait for the engineers report

I've spoke to a few who have lost vehicles in odd circumstances and a few mention oill or diesel on the road etc but I still (for now) think it could be mechanical but I hope too find out soon

do you know how I can to attach jpegs--

    ----Please

  12. Sorry to hear that mate. Was you at motorway speeds? Is it written off?

Hi yer It wasn't pritty it was only 60 Mph but it spinned around backwards and I hit the arm co and ripped off the front drivers wheel and followed by the drivers rear quarter cluster wing boot

I am waiting for it to be written off as we speak

no air bags nor tightened belt as it was all whilst sliding as soon as traction was lost it just slid

If I could figure out how to attach Pics I would post a few but I keep ending up with "add URL" ?? blank box

Any ideas how I attach some jpegs??

  14. As this is my first post and I have been a member a few years its reallly a cry for help

Sat AM I was off up to Derby to visit family

as I left the 25 onto the M40 north the car flipped out, I caught it for a split second and then it pulled to the left again. I dont think its was a blow out but you can never be sure, theres a bit more to this but I am just out feeling for clues to any possible causesl...........

what I am trying to find out is are there any recalls on the IS200 steering rack or track rod ends etc or is there any reported problems with the speed sensitve power steering ie staying to senitve and on all the while??

any help would be much apreciated

PS it was a 99 SE auto on a V
