  1. Hi I called Lexus Leeds today and they said its £115. That felt quite reasonable. I asked them part number and they said its 44426...(sorry forgot the rest, I have it written down at work). Is there a way to see if this is the right part I am looking for. @sorcerer does your software show this? It is supposed to be the main pipe from reservoir to pump. Cheers
  2. Seems like it's the expensive bit. Garage said its £300 odd from the dealership. They are looking for replacement parts from Japanese specialist breakers.
  3. Quick update. Garage say its a bust power steering pipe/hose. They will give me part number today. They are pretty sure the pump has survived though, saying that it wasn't getting oil so should not be damaged.
  4. Thanks @sorcerer The number you provided matches with the Toyota Harrier. Seems like I can buy a compatible one from Hong Kong for £100 or Toyota one for around £500. Haven't heard back from garage yet.
  5. Question: Does anyone know part number for the pump? I just want to search online to see what option for new, oem, used etc are there. I am guess the RX 1999-2003 pump will not fit the 2004 RX.
  6. Hi all Yesterday I started the car and there was this constant whine. As I moved and turned the wheel it got very loud. I parked up the car as I didn't wantto drive it like that. Checked engine oil and transmission oil and both looked at level. Coolant was good a well. Called recovery of local garage and they took it away, said it sounds like the power steering pump is gone. Car is at 104K miles. Is it something that should go so early? I seem to see posts from US where their power steering pump is going at 200k miles. I am a bit confused. Hope its just the belt or the pulley. Will find out today.
  7. I have this and I think sound quality is much better than the cassette adapters I have tried. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01K4R8RLM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  8. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Grom-Audio-Aux-in-Auxiliary-Adapter-Kit-AUX1-for-LEXUS-IS-RX-ES-GS-GX-LS-TOY1-/172164434013?hash=item2815ccc85d:g:68cAAOSw0QFXC9mX This seems a bit cheaper if you only need Aux-In
  9. thanks all. I think I was worrying about nothing. @ChrisKaye I tried it in S mode today and you are right, there is hardly any jerk at all
  10. Hi all Car (Rx300 gen2) jerks a little when it's moving from around 30mph to 40mph. Also transmission seems more jerky ,i.e, not as smooth, as my x-IS250. Had the transmission oil changed few days back with Toyota Type IV and garage guy noticed a leak in the transmission. He was not sure where it was coming from but said its so small a leak I should not be worried about it. There are certainly no oil leaks on the road where I park. And I have been keeping an eye on the oil and it does not seem to be loosing any oil. So questions are Is it normal to have a slightly jerky transmission even after fresh oil, and, should I be worried about the tiny oil leak on the transmission?
  11. @PCM Got the Timing Belt/WaterPump/Coolant done. Also got the tuchup paint so will be touching up the rust patches. There are a couple more patches I found over the weekend. Lexus said transmission oil does not need changing. Not sure to believe them or not. I don't have a Shell near me, closest I can get to premium fuel is a Jet petrol pump. I am not sure if its worth the extra if its not Shell or BP. Air con service is required but probably get it done come spring time.
  12. Congrats! You need to change your Lexus Model in the forum settings now :)
  13. Hi, So I have had the car now for about 3 weeks. Slowly making a list of things to do. Car is RX300 at 103K Timing Belt + Water Pump Change (Booked with Lexus, surprisingly cheapest and cheaper than 3 quotations from local Indys) Fix ticking sound coming from dash. It is most probably the air-circulation motor on the driver side. (any one know the part number?) Transmission Fluid , couple of flushes. Its dark red, so may as well do it ASAP. Will get Toyota Type-IV from Lexus, flush at local garage. One rear Wheel arch has a bit of rust that seems to have been covered up by touch up paint. (don't know if I should leave it or get it sorted). I plan to have the car for at least two years. It is parked out side on the road. Will need new tyres for front very soonish. Service, Oil/Filter, airfilter, pollen filter Rear breaks are squeaking, may be seized calipers or breakpads coming to end. Anything else that should be on my radar at 100K? Thanks
  14. Hi ALL Found it. The VIN number was in passenger door not drivers door . Also found paint code 8R8
  15. Thanks for the link. Mirror ordered. Any hints on the colour code and vin plate question?
  16. Hi again. I am looking for the colour code for touch up paint. Most sites mention to look in drivers door or under the hood for a big sticker / metal plate. Can't seem to find it in either place. In the IS250/220d it was in the door plus a metal stamped plate riveted to the boy behind the engine. In the door panel there is a small black sticker with whats seems as a VIN number on it and three digit code 110 under the VIN. Under the hood it is the same sticker on the passenger side. Is the 110 colour code? if not where can I find the colour code from? The service book says Turquoise. thanks
  17. Hi all Thanks for your replies. I got a quote from Lexus today, as you said £295 for belt + £350 if they find water pump leaking. Also I had a play with the sat nav. I have to agree its quite useless. The maps are from 2004-05. Good thing is I was not expecting much from it :) About the sound. Well I had a drive today with the windows open. This is a screeching sound from rear wheel on very low speeds. With windows closed the sound proofing does a good job at hiding the sounds. Could be a sticking caliper or warped rotter. About the mirror, I think I am going to try one of the breakers on eBay. This doesn't seem too urgent as its not very annoying. Sorry forgot to say car is 54 Reg. Asked a local Toyota specialist they quoted £600 for the Belt and pump. I will see if any other indi comes closer to £350.
  18. Hi All After owning an IS220d then IS250 SE , then... Honda Jazz... I have just bought a RX300 SE at 100K miles. Looks like the timing- belt will cost £300 to change at Lexus. I may also give Lexus essential servicing a try. The car colour is shiny, sky blue. It was sold as perlesent turquise, but I don't know if that is the real Lexus name for this. It has NAV and hands free. Bought it from a tiny little dealership in outskirts of Bradford so I don't think there will be too much point in me talking it back to dealer for small things. I have a few questions, 1. Driver side mirror is very dark, even in day time. Almost like a brownish tint. The one on passenger side is fine. I think this might be a broken self dimming mirror. As I am not too bothered about self dimming can I just replace the mirror with some standard non-dimming one? Where to best look for it? 2. Is there any update disks for the navigation? The nav looks pretty dated but doesn't bother me much but if its easy enough to do I may update it 3. There is a tiny bit of a creak when turning at slow speeds, like when reverse parking in a bay. Should I be concerned? I think I am being picky here cause that sound is 100 times less that what the Jazz has been making for last year or so.
  19. Read this http://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-second-generation/542134-airbag-light-on-with-resolution-tsb.html
  20. the air bag connect near the drivers knee (close to the odb connector) comes loose and is known problem. just push it in and it will be fine. Here is a diagram for its location http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wwcM8VE1kBA/UJmEowxPxkI/AAAAAAAAD1w/rrF6ehkibuA/s1600/J20.png
  21. Make sure you have plugged in the EGR connector. I forgot to push it in tight. Car came up with warning lights. plugged in ODB code reader and it reported code for egr not present. So went back and found the connector loose.
  22. white smoke from IS220d is usually unburnt diesel being thrown out. When the car detects that DPF filter is clogging up, it send a lot of diesel to burn the soot of. Some times this works but if the DPF is really clogged up, or pipes leading to your differential pressure sensor are clogged up then its just plain unburnt diesel being thrown out which comes out as white smoke. When I had my IS220d i cleaned the EGR valve, used BG244, gave car some heated running at high reves, and pressure opened the differential pressure sensor. But still I got white smoke and an average of 33mpg.
  23. The smart key design is good. It is also very sensitive. I was still amazed from how far I could lock and unlock the car. Problem is third party electrical equipment. If properly designed and approved according to law, the signals should not interfere this badly. However some cheap kit, badly designed or manufactured without proper radio approvals can cause these problems as they are breaking the radio rules but being in constant transmit mode. Some video senders (baby monitors) are really bad for this. Also malfunctioning equipment like broken wireless door switches can cause such problems. happened to me about 4 years ago. Turned out there was some building work going on in a school near our house. As soon as the builders left the car keys started working again.
  24. either fob battery is dead or there is radio interference in your area, possibly a wireless door bell or something like that is interfering with it. Your keys should work if you take your car to some other area.
