  1. The automatic steering wheel adjustment on my Mk4 has decided to have a mind of its own all of a sudden. When you put the key in the ignition the wheel moves down a little but not to the position of the memory (seats etc all move to set memory position). The steering wheel moves up and down on the button but will not move in and out.

    Questions :

    1. is the "in and out" movement on a seperate fuse.

    2. I have seen a fix on the forum for the "up and Down" movement but not the "in and out"

    3. I can`t hear any motor working for the "in and Out" which suggests a problem.

Anyone else encountered this before ???

  2. Thanks for your thoughts and input.

It looks like a new Battery might be the order of the day and hopefully that will solve the problem. It looks like the car might be shuting down any electrical system so save power. Is the dash nc speedo, tacho etc together with the speeed sensitive steering, air con and electric windows all on the same circuit ?? The seats, radio etc still continued to work, and all came back to life when I restarted the car.

  3. Here is the story.

Had my car ( LS 400 (mk4)) in storage for a couple of months always worked like a dream. Came to start and Battery completly flat had to reboot the imobiliser by waiting six mins with the ignition on (thanks for the help from Neil at Bolton Lexus). Drive the car 50 miles and started fine next morning running like a dream. Driving along the motorway at a steady 70mph when all the dials go off including the A/C and the electric windows and the assisted steering, radio and seats work fine, stop car and restart and everythibg works fine again. Has anyone any idea on whats going on or is it the sign of impending doom

  4. I have just bought my first LS400 and am very impressed with the car, which only seems to have one fault. Not every time but perhaps once every couple of days the alarm will go off and it seems the only way to stop it is to lock the car with the key rather than the remote !! any ideas ??

If the battery goes completly flat are you still able to open the doors with the key.

    Many thanks

Welcome and congrats on making the choice.

    Couple of points.

    1) Have you utilised the search facility, it really is a massive resource.

2)Is it a late MKIII or early MKIV?

3)What sort of remote do you have?
