  1. Welcome to the LOC Jack, that's a rare car you've got there! When you get to a certain age the higher the car the easier it is to get out, so mine go up rather than down! Hopefully someone will come along with your answer.
  2. On the very rare occasions that an early LS400 comes up for sale with such low mileage the sellers seem to ask anything from 8-10k as they are usually pristine examples. You may have a long wait if you don't want to spend lots!
  3. Oh yes? And remind me of the speed you got up to in yours! Although an online confession could be unwise!
  4. Thanks for the info Neil, much appreciated. Thanks also for my first SC experience, obviously I'm smitten now! That's a fine and unique steed you have there.
  5. Ah yes, my brother had a Carlton, a great car really, his had big miles on it as well but also got unlimitedly beaten by the rust. A shame we didn't work harder on producing decent cars in the UK, remember the Omega? A lovely car which I coveted but never owned.
  6. All is not lost, Kylie has a new song coming out and it'll save me electricity because every time I hear it the radio will go off!
  7. Just as well parts are still being copied then! I think if bought will caution, ie, not necessarily unknown online sellers, many aftermarket parts are fine.
  8. I'm glad it's not just me who spends/looses money on cars! And as you say, we've been very lucky so far here in Sussex re the virus!
  9. I would guess by the original post being in April he's sorted now, although you'd never know as we've not heard a thing!
  10. I see Lexus Parts Direct are doing a set of front discs and pads for £153. A good price I think for genuine parts! I was looking at Rockauto and although the parts are cheap (Bosch discs) the shipping due to the weight means it's not viable this time. Has anyone used Mintex discs successfully? They're £70 and ceramic pads from Rock with shipping are £20.
  11. I don't think loosing just an expansion tank of coolant would be enough to run it to hot, I'd be checking the thermostat first. Also check to feel if the top and bottom hoses are hot.
  12. Wayyy back in time I bought a 69 Chevy that had been parked up for two years, after we got it started I drove it round the streets and on every corner there was a gentle knocking sound. It took an age to eventually discover one rear wing was full of water, and somehow, and that's always been the mystery, there was a bakelite ashtray floating on the surface hitting the side!
  13. I have to say after 6 weeks or so I'm really pleased with the result, the ride really feels like my LS400 did which was great. Cornering is fine and so is high speed.

    LS460 Search

You're very welcome. I think even today the technology in my 17 year old car is way higher than many new ones I come across. Good luck with your search!
