  1. It was completely dark when I set off but it all came back to life a mile before home so it seems it changed when the internal temperature rose. I tried adjusting the cluster in all directions but it made no difference.
  2. I'm happy with spanners but electrical stuff baffles me so I wonder if anyone can literally shed some light on this. I went out this evening in the dark, the dials, display screen and steering wheel switches lit up, but all the other buttons including the gear shift were dark. On the way back (about 5 miles) they appeared again, any ideas? Also, as you can see in the photos, the centre display went back to its night colour which it didn't at first.
  3. I emailed Rock once asking about parts not shown on their site, they said if you can't find them listed they don't have them and can't be ordered. If its the rear take Malcs advice and don't worry about it until the next mot, especially as you do such a small annual mileage, unless you start to hear knocking over bumps of course!
  4. I recently replaced my upper control arms, they come complete with the ball joint. The Lexus price was an eye watering £1,100 for the pair! I decided again to go with Rockauto, I didn't choose their cheapest parts, but even the ones I decided on with shipping and prepaid VAT the total was £93 for the pair. The quality appears to be pretty good, a very nice alloy casting of the main wishbone. I found fitting them very easy, I think the LS400 may be slightly different, and as I only cover about 4k miles a year I'm happy with my choice. As a DIY job I reckon I can do each side in about 40mins, so even if I had to replace them again I'm still quids in! I see Rock have them for the 400 for the same price.
  5. I think there's a lot to be said for just being "aware" of an advisory. Are you talking about the lower ball joints? If so, Rockauto has them for £20 each and with shipping etc a pair will be about £85 all in. The part looks the same as the LS430 and they are very easy to fit.
  6. I know just how you feel, it's gut wrenching. Did you buy from a dealer, and how long ago? If a dealer sold it to you the law clearly is on your side being "not fit for purpose" and if they won't address the issue satisfactorily they must refund your money.
  7. You'd better get moving then, you've got a lot of catching up to do!
  8. Impressive! If my calculation is right that's about 373,000 miles! I've got 300,000 miles to go to catch you up. Any problems over those miles/kilometres?
  9. That is the main problem as I will be staying down a narrow country lane, I'm guessing the LS460 is the same width as the Celsior/LS430. There should be a lot less traffic in December though. Btw, my Volvo came with Michelin tyres but they caused it to tramline really badly, as soon as I got the Avon's it was fine.
  10. Glad you enjoyed the journey, I'm looking forward to driving mine to Lands End in less than two weeks. Everyone will have their own views on tyres but for some years I've gone with Avon's which give excellent wet grip. I've got them on my Celsior and my Volvo and I think they're great tyres.
