  1. Some just cap them off and have front AC which seems to work, and it's certainly the cheapest option. I don't know if it's an easy DIY but I know to do it "properly" it's a fuel tank out job.
  2. If your tank is corroded to that extent I'd really worry about a repair, you should be able to get one from a breakers easily enough. If you haven't had them done it'll be worth considering your rear AC pipes at the same time, a common failure which means removal of the fuel tank to do it properly.
  3. It didn't start life as part of VW.
  4. This was by far the worst car I ever owned, the Variant coming close. Any idea?
  5. One more before I turn in.
  6. Not sure what a type 3 is, I knew it as a VW Variant, one of the worst cars I've ever owned!
  7. Correct, Reliant Robin And another..
  8. Well now, as everyone else is doing it!
  9. It's just my opinion but it seems to make sense to go for something that is less likely to cost you in the long term, and air suspension has other components that fail, not just struts. I've had three vehicles with air so far and three without, all Lexus, and I still struggle to understand why people rave about it so much.
  10. Lovely car, I'm envious!
  11. If anyone offered to refurb an air strut for £80 I'd have to put my doubtful/sceptic hat on and think more than twice!
  12. The plate retention is easy, it takes about 5 mins online, it'll cost you £80. It'll instantly revert to the original number and will still be taxed, they don't send a new MOT anymore so it'll still be current under the new reg number. A new VC5 takes 4-5 working days to arrive. I only know all this as I did mine last week when I sold my Celsior. The insurance I'm not sure about, although a named driver on yours could work. Have you tried online for a quote?
  13. Lovely car by the way!
  14. An LS430 at 2k will get you a duffer, unless you'd bought one of my last three! An LS400, even with high mileage, as long as the cambelt has been replaced would be your best bet. No air suspension to let you down. O2 sensors are not too bad cost wise if you source them properly, Check VSC will be thrown up with O2 issues.
  15. I would consider giving the bushes a good dose of WD-40 or similar, just to be sure it's the ARB's And have you tried Rockauto in the US for parts?
