  1. This is the one I got for my MK4 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-LS400-4-0-VVTi-V8-UCF20-1998-onwards-STARTER-MOTOR-SOLENOID-REPAIR-KIT-/251257586415?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a801e82ef Sorry, just realised it's the starter you want and not the kit!!
  2. The problem is I don't have access to my garage and I'm totally tied up with a house renovation. I also cannot find a definitive guide to what is involved. I need step by step instructions generally. I will call Lexus Sheffield but I may also have a chat with my local small garage to see if he is comfortable with it. While this work is done, is it a good time to change the spark plugs as well? It'll certainly make getting to the plugs easier, although there's nothing really difficult about changing the plugs on the MK4. Just be sure any mechanic is confident, they'll be lots of holes to drop small bits in when the manifold comes off!
  3. When mine went it just clicked, then occasionally started, but I have heard of them spinning as well. As said, the kits are cheap, and the ones off ebay are good quality for about £13. I think the suggestion that low mileage means lots of short journeys and lots of start ups is a good possibility. Mine cost £350 for labour.
  4. I know I've said it before, but we only read about the "issues" with the LS430, hardly ever do we read about their good points. Get an LS430 with good history, and one that feels right when you view and test it, and you could have a great car that is ridiculously good value for little money. Not everyone will have transmission and suspension issues. Try one out, you'll be smitten! I took mine from Sussex to Heathrow this week to pick a friend up, even that was a pleasure on the M25 because the cabin is such a nice place to be. And they're cheaper to insure than the 400. My insurance company said it's because they're a safer car!
  5. I would suggest you phone a Lexus main dealer to confirm, just to be sure, they're usually very helpful. Unfortunately you would get many more replies if you were posting something about the "invincible" LS400! Hope you get it sorted soon Phil
  6. Thanks for that. I bought the Transcend DrivePro 200 at £75. It's rated highly by many motoring organisations and comes with a 16gb sd card. It also has wifi for connecting to an iphone or Android device and has brilliant picture quality. Early days yet but so far so good!
  7. Hi all, can anyone offer advice on this? I bought a dash cam this week and although the camera is discreet the wires aren't. I was thinking of hard wiring it and the source closest is the rear view mirror. Would it be possible do you think to tap into that? It obviously has a power source there because of the little green light. Thanks. PS I know it says dash can but it won't let me edit, that's what happens when you use a mobile with a small keypad!
  8. Hi Bob, welcome to the LOC, and yet another one from Sussex! Where abouts are you?
