  1. Really interested to see how you get on with this. I've also had two LS400's and I don't think the air system feels any better!
  2. I currently have a Vauxhall Vectra estate that I use for work (I need a big estate car) but it's getting a bit long in the tooth. Having got used to Lexus luxury, I thought I might combine luxury with practicality, and the E class estate is really the only one big enough. Has anyone had experience of them? I'll be looking for a 2006-8 but it will mean the Lexus has to go, as running two cars isn't ideal. Thanks.
  3. What a good price for tyres. I've just paid £213 to have two Falkens fitted!
  4. Very nice, and should I decide to stay with Lexus it's what I'll be aiming to buy sometime.
  5. I think Colin is correct, although finding one for sale without the premium pack seems impossible, I've yet to see one.
  6. Sorry to hear your tale of woe. Car problems seem to be like London buses, all or nothing. Hopefully the rest of the years motoring will be like the 105 bus I used to get home, they hardly ever came!
  7. I had this conversation with the guy who replaced a rear height sensor a couple of weeks ago. He said he'd looked into it in the past and the cost is far too prohibitive. It's not just the parts but the long labour hours. It would probably workout less in the end having the air shocks replaced. The height sensors can be taken apart and cleaned, mine cost £315+VAT for the part, but fitting is quick and fairly easy.
  8. If it's any consolation I have to get from Sussex to Covent Garden by 8.30 tomorrow morning, and then over to Hackney. That all mounts up to being in the Blackwall Tunnel during evening rush hour on a Friday!!
  9. Good advice young man, the equipment is only as good as the operater. All this has made me order new Falkens for fitting this afternoon. Be interesting to see if the road noise reduces.
  10. Falkens do have a good reputation, and that's what I'll be replacing mine with, as opposed to the ones I have now which I think are made of the same stuff as cheap footballs! Plus the road noise is awful.
  11. I'm having the same problem with the outer edge. Looking at US forums, many suggest low tyre pressure, but others say general wear on steering components. Interestingly, many on that forum say that 10K for the front tyres on such a heavy car is acceptable. The quality of the tyre will make a huge difference, budgets do wear very quickly, and that's what mine has, but because they were on the car when I bought it I couldn't justify replacing them as they were fairly new. The fact that you've had two sets wear in the same place does maybe suggest wear on the steering/suspension somewhere. Have a look at this, it may help http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls430/550584-excessive-tire-wear.html
  12. Looking forward to the photos, and as I'm in the next county, maybe getting to see it!
  13. Hi Jim, welcome to the LOC!
  14. Good news on your part! Most LS430's go through life without the transmission/water problem, and most likely it won't happen to me. It's just that if it is straightforward and inexpensive I think I'll get it done anyway. I may wait until the MOT is due and get it done at the same time.
  15. I can't say I've noticed it with mine, but I will try it today with the window down (if it ever stops raining!)
  16. As of today I haven't! I've had so much conflicting info that I'm not sure what to do. However, I did ask the guy who did some work for me and he said it really is easy to put an aftermarket cooler on. He owns a GS300 and did the same to his as he tows a lot. He said a simple £65 cooler will do, and fitting it is easy. As I've just paid for a new rear height sensor it will have to wait for a while. Bearing in mind the mechanic is Lexus trained and seems to know his stuff, I think it's probably the way to go, there's loads of space to fit one and it means the risk of water damage is gone, so it will be a job to be done soon, unless I need a height sensor on the other side......
  17. Mines an earlier one but seems to work fine, very useful sometimes. I have noticed however that I need to get the keys out of my pocket to get in the house which is a bit of a drag. What side is the off switch, just in case it plays up?
  18. Sounds pretty good to me, especially less than £1,000 of fuel for 900 years of motoring! As you say, the price of fuel now makes a big difference.
  19. Hi Moe, welcome to the LOC. Nice car! I've ordered Lexus parts through my local Toyota dealer, and as they're the same company the price is still the same. Unless anyone can offer any different advice you may have no other choice.
  20. Hi Stu, welcome to the LOC! :)
  21. Hi Roy, Welcome to the LOC. Where in Sussex are you?
